About this property
Sunsets over Quahog Bay - rustic setting, peace and quiet
Basic 1950s vintage cottage with great view of water and sunsets from living room or deck, access to water at all tides (via dock and ramp to a float - shared with our family cottage next door). Fully equipped kitchen including breakfast area, dining area, living room, and bathroom (with shower) on first floor, two separate sleeping areas upstairs. Gas grill provided, kayaks available to borrow, ocean swimming is usually comfortable in July and August. The deck or fire pit are both great for relaxation. Peaceful, rustic setting with few neighbors. If you have toddlers or young children please contact owner - we did fine with our kids, but you'll want to know more about the outside areas. We would be happy to answer questions to help you decide if this is the right place for you. MESSAGE OWNER TO DISCUSS RENTAL OPTIONS RELATED TO JULY 4TH WEEKEND - DIFFERENT CHECK IN, 5 or 7+ DAY POSSIBILITIES..

About the host
Hosted by Frances Farnsworth

Red Cottage is next door to our family cottage and was originally purchased so that we would know our nearest neighbors. Over the years we've become friends with most of renters, many of whom return year after year.
Why they chose this property
Red Cottage is enjoyed by folks who used to camp but now want a similar experience without the tent and with an inside bathroom - and by folks who want to "get away from it all". We do have WiFi and a basic smart TV, but most renters prefer to sit on the deck, read, go kayaking, walk along the shore, enjoy the trails and beaches within short driving distances, and sample seafood at myriad restaurants in the area. There's an "eat on the wharf" seafood restaurant only two miles away. We pride ourselves in trying to think of what renters might want or need. You can kayak across the bay to a breakfast/lunch restaurant and to a public island with campsites for tenting or picnicking. .
What makes this property unique
Rustic, quiet setting with access to the ocean at all tides - yet close to Route 1 for folks who want to explore farther afield. Renters appreciate the home-like qualities of Red Cottage.
