🌄 Welcome to Grey Haven
Hi, I’m Kathryn—originally from East Tennessee, and forever connected to its mountains. Though I no longer live there, the Smokies still feel like home. Grey Haven is my only rental, and it’s a place I’ve created with care and intention.
🧝♀️ The name “Grey Haven” is inspired by Tolkien’s Grey Havens—a peaceful harbor where the elves departed Middle-earth for their place of rest. To me, this cabin is just that: a quiet refuge for reflection, connection, and renewal.
☕ I love sitting on the deck with a warm cup of coffee on a cool spring morning, watching the sky shift over the mountains. The view is always changing, always beautiful. In winter, the twinkling lights of Gatlinburg during the holidays are magical—especially from the hot tub.
🥾 One of my personal goals is to hike all 900 miles of trail in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. If you visit, I’d love for you to leave a note sharing your favorite hike or mountain view—reading guest notes is one of my favorite traditions at the cabin and usually the first thing I do when I arrive.
🏡 Grey Haven is meant to be a place for togetherness—a space to relax, reconnect, and enjoy the company of friends and family. I hope your stay brings you peace, joy, and maybe even a few new traditions of your own.
Warmly,
Kathryn

I have memories stored here- sitting on the deck drinking coffee with my mom- one day a bear came right up the stairs and we didn't notice him until my husband came to the door and told us to leave our coffee and back inside! I think about painting with my sister, dinners when all of our kids were there, foosball tournaments, going through Roaring Fork Motor trail with our family, going up to Ober and snowtubing. We love to stay there because it's close to what we like to do, and it's peaceful. There are 2 living areas so if part of your group wants to watch a movie and others want to play a game or read by the fire and chat you can do it.
