The surrounding area of this cottage is beautiful, private and very quiet and the creek in the back is its best attribute. I have stayed at several vrbos over the years and this one felt more like a camping cottage on a camp ground than a vrbo home. We were surprised to find it was heated by an electric fireplace in the main room which was broken upon arrival. The hosts did a good job of getting it fixed the next day but it was a cold night. Most of the accommodations felt like items picked up from a yard sale. Overall it was pretty clean and we were grateful for a place we could bring our small dog.
Lovely rustic location in the woods. Stream is just beyond the fire ring. Nice outdoor space. We enjoyed our stay! Close to the Bald Eagle State Forest and hiking trails. Neil was quick to reply to communications.Note for anyone with kids who may wander the property - there is poison ivy - so be sure to know how to id it!!
For a pet friendly place, the price is about right, but the unit itself has aged from the photos. The listing left me confused as the back appears to be the front. When we arrived we weren't sure if we were in the right spot. The gutters are dirty and look to potentially be clogged, and the outside of the unit has collected plenty of dirt over time. The unit smelled musty upon entry. We had to buy air wick refills for the plug ins that were in the unit to cover that smell. Not overbearing, but it wasn't pleasant. Livable, however without anything else to cover it.The placement of the air conditioner does not allow cool air to circulate into the back bedroom. There is also no fan supplied in the unit, so we ended up purchasing one. Placing it just inside the main room and pointed into the back bedroom worked best. If you're going to do this you'll need a fan that can move a decent amount of air.The bed is memory foam and FIRM. I do not prefer that but it may work for some people. We didn't use the other two bedrooms but for the one on the left in the main room that we did use at a closet, the bed seemed to be a coil spring. The internet is abysmally slow here, but it may be the only option. 3Mbps speeds.Host was super nice on the short interaction I had with him. Overall this isn't a bad place to be, just a poor fit for me.

Welcome to the woods in rural PA! The gutters have guards which catch the leaves and keep them from blocking the gutters, so no. They are not plugged up, but thank you for noticing. We are cautious about overusing air fragrances because of guests with allergies. Homes in the woods during the humid summer season tend to smell a bit musty from being closed up between bookings. We will look into possibilities for better climate control before next summer. We’ve only posted this rental within the last year or so. The photos are current. Glad I got to meet you. Maybe try visiting during cooler weather. Fall is gorgeous in the valley! Thank you for choosing our little place.
