Ivy Lane Townhouse offers charming, spacious accommodation adjacent to the Canterbury city walls. The house is a listed building, with many period features, a walled garden and private parking. The house was entirely renovated in 2020 and includes many modern conveniences. Ivy Lane Townhouse is good for family vacation travellers and visitors to the many local universities.
The house has a beautifully presented entrance hall, living room and separate dining room, all with fireplaces. Windows to the garden create a bright environment. The large kitchen/dining room is fitted the with new top quality appliances. The conservatory leads to a lovely large walled garden. There is high speed internet, TV, large screen DVD player and a washer/dryer.
A substantial staircase leads to the first floor. A double bedroom has a king size bed, extensive fitted closets and en-suite shower/water closet. A single bedroom with fireplace, an office area and a family bathroom, with a bath/shower, complete the first floor. The top floor is a large bright room, with two single beds and a lovely ensuite shower/water closet.
The house was originally three cottages that have been brought together, retaining many original features, including fireplaces and exposed brick with timber framed walls. One cottage is used for a central staircase. A large kitchen/dining room extension was added in 2020 and result in a lovely space to gather for meals. In addition to the house, the space where a fourth cottage stood forms a large parking area. The spacious gardens are laid to lawn, with various trees and shrubs, and a lovely old brick wall.
Pets are welcome.
The location allows you to come to the house, park and not need to drive during your stay. Canterbury centre is steps away. Trains and bus stations are close by for travel to London or the seaside towns of Kent.
Canterbury's tourist destinations include a UNESCO World Heritage cathedral, medieval Tudor architecture, a Norman castle, Roman walls, a synagogue and early Christian sites. We were attracted to this house because of the central location in the heart of Canterbury - steps away from the Cathedral and High Street - yet with a wonderful hidden garden on a quiet street. It allows for easy day trips by train into London and is only a short drive or bus ride to the coast.
