In the heart of Rome's historic centre, overlooking the famous Fontana delle Tartarughe in Piazza Mattei, this elegant residence inside Palazzo Costaguti combines history and comfort in perfect balance. Located on the third floor and equipped with a lift, the spacious and well-appointed apartment accommodates up to 8 people with 4 tastefully furnished bedrooms, 3 modern bathrooms, a frescoed living room with decorative fireplace, a convivial dining area, a fully equipped kitchen and a terrace. Just a short walk from Trastevere, the Pantheon and Campo de' Fiori. The flat is composed as follows:
Living room: The living room, finely frescoed, is a space from another era where you can relax on the three sofas in the warm and welcoming light of the antique table lamps, in front of the stone fireplace and the central coffee table, which is both modern and classic at the same time. The furniture that completes it guarantees, in addition to functionality, spaces where you can store books, computers and all sorts of personal belongings to enjoy the beauty of ancient times, sipping tea, reading a good book and listening to music.
Kitchen and dining room: The dining room, with open-plan kitchen, overlooks the characteristic Piazza Mattei, better known as Piazza delle Tartarughe, with its fountain famous for appearing in numerous films. Light is the real star of this space, illuminating the large table for eight people and the functional, fully equipped kitchen island with American coffee machine, espresso machine, moka pot, toaster, ice machine, dishwasher and microwave, as well as all the essential kitchen appliances for preparing special dinners or simple Roman breakfasts. On request, dinners can be prepared at home for larger groups.
Bedrooms: The two double bedrooms also overlook Piazza delle Tartarughe, enjoying the same light as the dining room. Each has an en-suite bathroom, a double bed, bedside tables and comfortable armchairs. The third double bedroom is a twin room with two single beds and shares a bathroom with the fourth double bedroom, which is also a twin room with single beds and access to the apartment's terrace. All rooms are tastefully furnished in a classic style but are also highly functional, with attention to detail.
Bathrooms: All three bathrooms are refined and furnished with period terrazzo tiles and fully equipped. Two bathrooms have bathtubs and showers, and one bathroom has a shower. Each bathroom has a hairdryer and a set of shower soaps and shampoo.
Terrace: The property is completed by an intimate terrace, perfect for morning coffee or a glass of wine at sunset, overlooking the inner courtyard of the building and retaining all the characteristics of the terraces of old Rome.

Dear Vinchenza,
thank you so much for your kind words! It was truly a pleasure hosting you. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the location and felt well taken care of throughout your stay. Your appreciation means a lot to us, and we’d be very happy to welcome you again in the future.
A personal greeting by our host was most appreciated! He showed us everything we needed to know. The kitchen is more than well stocked for all your cooking needs! Plenty of room for your large group to comfortably move around. The area is great, central location! And, the small fee for service to the airport is more than worth it! Would definitely stay here again!

Thank you, Louise, you've been wonderful customers. I hope to see you again soon.
This is a fantastic place to stay, with excellent hosts and very good amenities. You are right at the centre of Rome, but in a quiet and atmospheric piazza. The apartment is extremely comfortable and all the provisions, like linen, are excellent. The support from the hosts is perfectly judged - very responsive to every question or request but otherwise giving you the freedom to enjoy a really remarkable building and setting.

This historic property is a truly authentic Roman experience, perfectly located with walking access to all of Rome’s central highlights and best neighborhoods. The apartment itself is sprawling and has a beautiful backstory. The family (Gian, for us) will share all the special highlights as they walk you through the home and rental instructions. From your third floor kitchen and bedrooms, open up the giant windows and you’ll see classic Italian architecture in the skyline and a popular piazza below. The piazza includes a great cafe, a small grocery, secure ATM, small pharmacy, a gelato shop, easy taxi access, even a pasta shop with amazing cooking classes - all right downstairs. Active and exciting during the day; noisy from about 5pm - 11pm, and then things close down. We didn’t have any problem with this - just part of the bustle of Rome. Also, this is not a ‘party square’ by any means - just the sounds of everyday living. Also within steps: a modern laundromat, and the ancient Jewish Ghetto. Not comparing the significance of these establishments! Just saying that this location has EVERYTHING.The apartment itself is not new (obviously, as it’s part of a former palace) but it is lovely and has all the basic conveniences. Also, it is very secure with a watchman at the main property entry, and a giant locked door when Mr. Luigi is not present. A locked door like…in older times it probably accommodated a horses and carriages. This is a classic.

And yes — long ago horses and carriages really did enter through the main gate!
