About this property
Secluded Cabin w/ hottub, petfriendly, firepit, 20min to town, fish hunt slps 2
Come to this beautiful mountain cabin to fish, play, relax or hunt. King bed in master, updated, nice singles in second bedroom. You have to walk thru the second bedroom to the bathroom, so that's why we thought it be best that it was one couple and pets! Note: If you have drawn an elk tag for First Rifle: for unit 54 we can help! we are right next to unit 54. contact us! Located 20 minutes from Gunnison, 35 minutes from the Crested Butte ski slopes, just west of Almont, this cabin lies in an extra-ordinarily beautiful valley setting. It is in the Ohio Valley. Access to the National Forest. We are looking for a couple only. Pets are welcome. Fish in your own creek, build a fire in the firepit, gaze up at the stars. We have a new hot tub! You can board horses in the barn if you like, but that is not necessary as Almont is very close, and has great horseback riding facilities, river rafting, pond fishing, etc. Check out the ghost town of Baldwin. Drive over the Ohio Pass to Crested Butte in summer (from June onward) - it's called the 'Scenic Loop', for a gourmet dinner. Outdoor grill, linens provided. The owner's house is just down the road - not far away at all. Dogs are welcome, as are horses. We'll put them in the barn. There is floor heating and a wood burning stove also. The wood is provided. If you don't have a horse, several local outfitters will be happy to provide them. Connectivity! Yes we have direct tv. We have wifi - but not super fast wifi so don't plan on streaming! Remember we are in the country! We also have spotty cellphone service, so to counteract this we have a phone in the cabin you can use - but don't do international calls, of course! Used as a hunting cabin in the fall, this cabin has multiple access to Unit 54, prime hunting grounds for deer and elk. In season, there are private group hunting packages: pick up at the airport, gourmet meal preparation, guiding if desired, animal packing. Please call for details. Great satellite TV.. Come winter, summer, fall and spring!!!!

We were very impressed the hosts, the property and the overall comfort of the cabin. You cannot find two better hosts than Georgia and Walter plus their dog Tux. Such a beautiful setting where their property is situated.
This fantastic cabin was our base camp for a week while we played and explored all around Crested Butte. It's spacious, comfortable, quiet and just far enough off the beaten path to ensure a deep and restful sleep. Our wonderful hosts have lived in the area for years and were kind and informative about trails and restaurants. Even pointing us to a stellar Thai restaurant in Gunnison (Patcharees) that we're still talking about! If you want nature, peace, quiet and open spaces that unfold for days, this is the place for you - super highly recommended!
Thanks so much for providing such a warm and wonderful place to stay while in Colorado. Outstanding and friendly hosts! Although we worked during our stay, we didn't hesitate to maximize the views and relaxing atmosphere!
We thouroughly enjoyed our stay. The property is beautiful and surrounded by incredible scenery. We especially liked watching the hummingbirds. Our hosts couldn't be more welcoming and we enjoyed meeting them and their sweet dog. Our dogs had the time of their lives running around in the tall grass chasing birds and exploring.

Really enjoyed meeting you and watching the dogs run around having fun. Great guests welcome back any time!
Mi wife and I (and two doggos) stayed for a week. Walter and “Bunny” are fabulous hosts. Always there for any needs or requests. Super friendly. The accommodations were just what we expected and more. VERY comfortable, clean, and inviting. The front porch, where I spent many an hour, is perfect. Beautiful Mountain View’s and rolling meadows right out of your front door. Great place to hit that reset button.

Serenity at it's finest
If you are looking for some peace and quiet, look no further than this cabin. Imagine the hustle and bustle of the wind blowing the aspen leaves mesmerizingly, the hummingbird racing from one flower to the next, the chipmunk sneaking through the tall grasses to find a snack, and in the distance a faint moo from the grazing cow. If you are willing to move slowly to take in what nature has to offer, you just may be greeted with a mid-morning rain shower or two. Not to worry, the rain moves quickly through the valley and you are again warmed by the kisses of the sun. Take in the daily activities sitting in the rocking chair on the porch while sipping your coffee, tea or afternoon adult beverage.
If you must break away from the rocking chair, the cabin is well prepared with all of the amenities to cook indoors, grill outdoors and slow cook with the crockpot.
Sleeping with the windows open and breathing in the fresh mountain air is all the better on the comfortable beds and snuggly comforters. Cleaning up your dirty clothes from sitting on the rocking chair or your day hiking trips is a snap with the full washer and dryer. After a long day of hiking, fishing, or exploring relax in the hot tub under the stars. Relaxation, rejuvenation, peace and quiet is what you will find at this cabin. It can't be beat.
Just what we wanted... a secluded, quiet Mountain View getaway! Our host was right next door and was so helpful- even set up our campfire. We relaxed in the hot tub, and enjoyed visiting nearby Crested Butte and Gunnison National Park.
Enjoyed our time in at the cabin. Close to the pass for hiking, fishing etc., otherwise its a 30 minute drive to any other activities. I believe the description says there is a dishwasher, but there was not, unless you count my husband.
Tux- the owner's dog is a sweetheart!
Exactly what we were looking for and better than expected
My husband and I and two dogs stayed at the cabin for 6 nights. The cabin was clean and very comfortable. Bed and couch were great. The owners really thought of everything when stocking the cabin with the necessities and then some. Wi-Fi and satellite worked well as did appliances and shower. The cabin is very quite and secluded. Owners are just down the road and very quick to respond. Even our dogs whom are very tentative around other dogs they don’t know, eventually gave in to the charm of the owners dog, Tux who visited us often and gave us the tour of the property. It is an easy drive to visit Crested Butte and Gunnison for a change of pace. We hope to book again next summer!
Beautiful, remote cabin off the beaten path in the Ohio valley, with scenic drives to Crested Butte, Lake Irwin and Gunnison. The cabin had every amenity we needed, clean and comfortable, and the owners checked in to see if we needed anything. Highly recommend if you're looking to unplug and relax! Enjoyed our evenings on the front porch or hot tub.
The perfect place to unload stress and relax. Enjoy the wildlife coming near the cabin both morning and evening. Take a walk to the national forest through the aspen trees.
Walter and Robin were fantastic hosts. The cabin is exactly what we expected, fabulous. Loved the disconnection with the world and the beautiful surroundings. Very peaceful, highly recommended for those who love nature and enjoy unplugging from society for a while.
The views are breathtaking in every direction. The hosts are so wonderful, kind, helpful and knowledgable. The cabin was exactly as described. 1 main bedroom with a dreamy soft king bed and another partial room with a single bed. The bathroom, kitchen and living room are spacious allowing us and our dogs to spread out after a day of hiking or exploring the cute towns in the area. The cabin was very clean and comfortable making us all feel right at home. I hope we can go back one day!
This was our first experience staying in the Ohio Valley. It's a beautiful area with scenic views and lots of aspens. The location was secluded enough for us, yet convenient to town of Gunnison. The hosts were helpful and kind, and near enough for questions without being intrusive. The cabin was a perfect size for us with our dog, and had everything that we needed. We would recommend this property to anyone looking for a country cabin with beautiful views and nature all around.
My husband and I recently spent a week at this beautiful cabin. Paradise best describes location and overall experience. We are excited to visit again.
We live in the mountain and love staying in the mountains while we are away and this property was like a home away from home! The secluded location was perfect for a relaxing time away during these trying times. The owners were wonderful, welcoming and helpful and we miss Tux the Ranch pup already!
I'm sum, phenomenal! The cabin has everything one needs for a proper getaway: comfortable beds, relaxing living room, well equipped kitchen and a good shower. Thanks to the washing machine and dryer, you won't need to pack much either. Although it's a fair bit away from town there's a lot to do. The property is spacious and the national forrest close by will keep one busy enough. It's not only our dog who already misses it.
Cell phone reception is poor and the internet connection works well for email but that's exactly what's needed to escape the mondaine and to deeply relax instead. The owners live on the property which only makes the stay better as they are super friendly and helpful in any and all situations.
Really enjoyed our two weeks at the cabin and since we wish we could have stayed longer, we'll start looking for an opportunity to come back.
If you want beautiful surroundings, peace and quiet, a quaint comfortable cabin and great hosts, this is the place. We were sad to leave, but will be back. Wildlife is abundant and places to hike are close. Thank you Georgia and Walter for making your place available. What a gem!
We enjoyed a peaceful ten day stay. the views were fantastic, lots of deer and elk, and the quiet was just what we hoped for. Ohio Valley is a great place to be close to Crested Butte and restaurants while away form the crowds in town.

so glad it was exactly what you were looking for. Come again!
The surrounding scenery was SO beautiful. We enjoyed watching the stars, taking walks, sitting on the porch, soaking in the hot tub under the starts, and just hanging out. It was truly a piece of paradise!! The hosts were great and very accomodating. It was nice to be outside of the hustle and bustle of Crested Butte, but still close enough to go have dinner (about a 30 minute drive, which was gorgeous).
