About the host

Host profile image
We (Bob and Lee Mann) are originally from the New England area (Keene, NH and Holliston, MA). We have two grown boys that we raised in Holliston, Oberkirch Germany and Keene, NH. We lived in Germany for 5 years (1999-2004) about 20 minutes east of Strassbourg, France. The past 3 years we ran a 4.9 star rated Bed and Breakfast (Green River Bridge Inn) in Guilford, Vermont. We love having people enjoy these special places.

Why they chose this property

The cottage has been in our family since 1958 and has been the source of many happy memories. This year we decided to share the property by renting it so others can get to experience the beauty of this place. We love this place so much and are happy to share it with others!

What makes this property unique

The cottage is on a great location on beautiful, clean and fun Long Lake. We are in the middle of a cove that protects our part of the lake from wind and waves. As well, our lakefront has a sandy beach with a gentle slope, that makes it safe and easy for swimming and water activities. We have 300 feet of private frontage with trees on either side of our lot to provide privacy. Our front yard is open and provides an uninterrupted view of the lake from the cottage and the lawn. We have a 30' long dock with a 12'x10' seating area at the end that makes you feel like you are sitting in the middle of the lake! You can launch your boat at Plummer's Landing just 1/2 mile north of us or rent a boat in Harrison (3 miles) or Naples (8 miles). There is a beautiful trip on the lake from here to Naples, under the bridge into Brandy pond and then into the Songo river. You can even go through a set of locks in the river and continue into Sebago lake!

In winter time with the lake frozen over and covered with snow, it is just beautiful and peaceful. There is access to the Maine snowmobile trails either via the lake or down Kansas road to the power lines (about 1/2 mile). Also, ice fishing is popular on the lake as well as skiing at Pleasant Mountain in Bridgton (8 1/2 miles). You can cross country ski on the lake or on many of the groomed trails in the area.
