Ideal location
We spent a long weekend in South Haven and this property couldn't have been in a better location. It was a close and easy walk to downtown and the beach. Plenty of room for our family of 5 plus my sister's family of 4 to spread out. We had everything we needed and more! Would definitely stay here again!

This property is everything it promised to be. Perfect location, beautiful/charming house, and great outdoor space to enjoy. My only regret is not saying longer. Would love to come back again.

South Haven was a perfect place for our senior, yet active, group of ladies to vacation.
The house is charming and very well kept. Kitchen was very well stocked, and the dining room and porch allowed for plenty of space to eat. A highlight for us was the back yard - a “compact “ space with plenty of furniture to accommodate our group of 8 ladies as we gathered around the amazing fire pit each night. Grill was great too!

Great house. perfect location!!
We had 7 adults stay here, but had plenty of room for 5 more. The house was awesome. We couldn't have asked for anything better. We had lots of room to hang out.. from inside, front porch, back porch to outside seating area with firepit. We walked everywhere we needed/wanted to go. Beach, coffee shops, shopping, restaurants and bars. It was a perfect quick vacay for our family. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

About the host

Hosted by Anna & Jason Cole

Host profile image
Our family lives in Ann Arbor, MI. We were married in 1998 in Dexter, MI. Jason is originally from Flint and is a University of Michigan graduate and Anna grew up in the St. Louis, MO area and graduated from Illinois College. We are blessed with three beautiful children and a large wonderful family. Business and pleasure has taken us around the country and to different parts of the world.

We purchased this house in 2017, hope to retire to it, and will spend many wonderful years with our family here.

Why they chose this property

Growing up, Jason spent a lot of time in Harbor Springs, and on Sage Lake and Hubbard Lake. As a family we’ve vacationed all over the country and the state. The beaches of Lake Superior and Huron are amazing and lovely, but Big Blue (Lake Michigan) with her beaches, dunes and trails captures our hearts the most.
We’ve vacationed multiple times here in South Haven, but also enjoy neighboring communities in Saugatuck, Holland, Grand Haven and St. Joseph/Benton Harbor. We have made so many memories near Leelanau and Sleeping Bear Dunes it is surprising to not be nearer to there. We looked at many properties and considered beach access, lake views, activities, and the town or surrounding communities. We considered many options and thought seriously about only three properties. In the end, it was Blue View Victorian that grabbed us by the heart. It has the charm, beauty and location our family will enjoy for years to come (and so can yours).
On our previous vacations to South Haven we spent time mostly at the hotel/rental property or the beach. Since buying BVV, we’ve spent far more time in and around South Haven than ever before. Everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. South Haven is comfortable and casual and fits our style well. We love that we can stroll down to the beach/lighthouse or into town for a wonderful meal, a delicious coffee or ice cream, or to catch a movie. We love that in a very short time we are on first name basis with many of the proprietors and have been welcomed by our neighbors. Our deep connection to this community has developed quickly.
The first time we walked through, we knew this was our family’s legacy home – we offered the next day. We instantly fell in love with this 1889 Victorian with its restored charm and its seasonal lake views. We love listening to Lake Michigan waves and have spent hours marveling at the sunsets and stars. If you come to stay, you’ll see too.

What makes this property unique

If you are someone that appreciates architectural details you will admire this home. We love the original hard wood floors, moldings, grates, working pocket doors, door knobs, light fixtures, and the built in china cabinet. You’ll enjoy the history of this beautiful Victorian, but will appreciate the modern updates and conveniences. It is also perfectly situated between Lake Michigan and Downtown South Haven.
