For those who want to be always on the move, the surrounding countryside provides a great venue for hiking and biking. Close to all main transport infrastructure it is also an excellent starting point for exploring the region. Families, romantic couples as well as groups of friends will enjoy this vacation charmer as their second home.
Mediterranean-style villa was designed to provide guests with seductive comfort. A large living room with an open fireplace breathes warmth and hospitality. Four peaceful double bedrooms have incredible views and guarantee a good night rest. Villa features three modern and clean bathrooms which allow guests to refresh after a day’s adventures. Fully equipped kitchen with an elegant dining room provides all that is necessary for a satisfying eating experience. Rooms are characterised by high ceilings, highlighting the spacious and bright villa’s interior.
Intelligent use of wood, stone and plants creates a natural feel to the villa and its exterior. Facility is enclosed by a beautiful landscaped garden with ornamental trees, aromatic herbs and an all-season
display of blooming flowers. Garden boasts a private swimming pool, a welcome respite in the heat of the day. An outdoor dining and lounge area with a separate lodge for grilling will transform the villa into a true party paradise. Villa is maintained weekly by a house cleaner (surcharge), a gardener and a pool cleaner.
Mediterranean at Its Best
Northernmost Mediterranean peninsula was historically part of many different empires, each contributing to a unique blend of rich cultural tradition that remains vibrant to this day. Istrian sentiment is complemented by unspoiled nature, characterised by dynamic shores of the glittering Adriatic Sea and a lush inland landscape with magnificent scenery. Blue sea and green nature are
contrasted by white stone of small medieval towns adorning hilltops and the coastline.
Lively resorts provide numerous possibilities for recreation and are among the most popular travel destinations. Diverse beaches feature picturesque bays, coves and capes with gravel and white pebbles. Some of them are still wild and untamed, hidden away from noise and tourist crowds. Countryside is marked with charming rolling hills embraced by vineyards and olive groves. A large part of the peninsula is covered with fragrant pine forests, casting soothing shadows on a hot summer’s day.
Most impressive Istrian natural monument is the National park Brijuni, a group of islands on the West coast renowned for their rich biodiversity and many protected species. Since the beginning of their tourist history Brijuni islands have served as a vacation hot-spot for the European aristocracy. They were later also chosen as a summer residence for the former Yugoslav and subsequent Croatian presidents.
Region offers something for all tastes. It is ideal for all cultural explorers, lovers of gastronomical pleasures, people with an active lifestyle and also for those who just want to relax. The Mediterranean climate with moderately hot summers and mild winters acts beneficially and improves the wellbeing of visitors. All this makes Istria a perfect destination for holidays and longer vacations all year round.
Gastronomical Delights
Satisfy your taste buds with original Istrian cuisine, prepared according to traditional recipes. Istrian food is based on locally produced ingredients, seasonal vegetables, fresh seafood, spices, and olive oil.
For first time sampling, try a typical local dish, which includes any of the different kinds of pasta, prosciutto and sheep cheese. Delicacies with high quality Istrian truffles or wild asparagus are also much appreciated and will inspire even the most demanding connoisseurs.
Istrian geographic position with rich soil, abundance of sunlight and mild climate creates the perfect conditions for producing top quality wines. Toast to your health with the fine white Malvazija or deep red Teran wines.
Body and Mind Activities
Fresh air and clean nature are ideal for all kinds of outdoor activities. Visit any of the Istrian beach resorts to take a swim in the Adriatic Sea or simply lie back and enjoy the warm sunshine and gentle coastal breezes. Wake up the adventurer in you and discover hidden bays and coves by sailing or canoeing. Sports enthuisasts will appreciate the range of recreational facilities for golf, tennis, volleyball and other sports in all main tourist centres. The seaside is also an excellent choice for all fishers and birdwatchers.
Explorers of nature will fall in love with Brijuni National Park. Discover rare Mediterranean flowers and plants, observe animals in the safari park or take photos of the marine wildlife while scuba diving. Experience hiking, jogging, biking or horse riding along the many winding roads and paths in the Istrian countryside. Mount Učka Nature Park will provide you with opportunities for freeclimbing, paragliding and hang gliding. The favourable Istrian climate also enables flying in hot air balloons all year round.
Wander the narrow alleys of medieval towns admiring impressive churches, museums, lovely little art galleries and fine examples of Venetian-style architecture. Don’t miss the famous 6th century Euphrasian Basilica in Poreč with its beautiful gold mosaics or the Arena of Pula, one of the three best preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. Enjoy the rich Istrian cultural life and visit one of the numerous festivals taking place throughout the year, ranging from folk music and dance to contemporary art and literature.
