I Really Enjoyed It

The house was clean and had a cozy feel. Good location too, with a lot of restaurants/ neat stores nearby. I would definitely recommend this if you're looking to go on vacation to Connecticut.

Relaxing family time

Dan’s place is cozy and will remind you of your grandparents house. It is a close drive to area attractions. Once we were back from the day’s adventure, we would play games around the kitchen table. Beds are comfortable. The Deck and backyard are nice areas to hang when it’s nice outside.

Weekend away

We stayed for a long weekend after a conference in middle CT. House was clean and information correct. Many family pictures and items from decades past. Reminded us of a house on lake Candlewood we had for 75 years.

Lovely Location

This quaint property was in a very quiet neighborhood and close to all attractions. It definitely had that lived in feeling. So much so that the owner's personal belongings were everywhere in the house. Perhaps a very deep clean out of old pantry items in cabinets and clutter in the closets would allow renters to better utilize those spaces.

Homey place in a good location

Our 2-night stay was fine. The house is as described, feels like grandma and grandpa just stepped out to run errands. Neighborhood is well kept & quiet, and only minutes away from all amenities you would need. Thank you for your hospitality, Dan!

Great location!

This small, quaint house is located in a very quiet neighborhood and close to many places like downtown Westerly, the beaches, etc. The house is exactly what others have reviewed: small cottage with outdated furniture and appliances. If you don't mind feeling like you are staying in your grandparents house (which we didn't) it's a great place to call your home base.

Great place for a weekend share

I stayed with two friends over the long Labor Day weekend. It was comfortable and cozy, with everything we needed, including a fully stocked kitchen. The host was very accommodating, letting me drop stuff off well before check-in time and giving us a one-hour extension on the check-out time -- much appreciated.

Great value for the price

An older house but clean and very comfortable. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable and my wife and I slept very well for 4 nights. Full kitchen, 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. We spent a lot of time on the outdoor porch while we were at the property. Very peaceful and quiet neighborhood with very little street traffic. Pracically new washer and dryer in the basement.

Okay

Pros: Spacious house and yard in quiet neighborhood. Good sized deck with window boxes of flowers, very pretty. In window A/C units in each bedroom. Nice hardwood floors throughout the home. Great location close to many attractions. Cons: Definitely needs updating as others have mentioned. The couch is sagging and has a drape covering it. House could have been cleaner - downstairs bathroom has a cloth shower curtain with pink mildew growing on the bottom. Deck and deck furniture need a good power washing and items left scattered about (such as a snow shovel) need to be put away. Would be a nice little property with some attention spent on it.

Fun week

It was unlike any other place I've stayed. Very lived in but clean and comfortable. Just be sure you don't use both showers at the same time. This should be noted somewhere. We went to DuBois beach about 10 minutes away. The kids loved it because they got to go crabbing as well as swimming. Mystic is a short ride away as well. Weather was kind of crappy but we found things to do. Thank you Dan.

One comment for awareness

weird whistle-like shrill sound heard in upstairs bathroom. Source undeterminable. Sounded a bit like an alarm. Possibly air in plumbing pipes.

Perfect little house that had everything you would need!

Great location close to all the beaches, casino and mystic!! House was very clean and cozy with a nice deck in the back. Neighbor was very quiet and house had everything you would need. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location. Good value. Only issue was that the base of the toilets & floors around toilets not cleaned. I cleaned them . Bathrooms need to be updated. Could only use one shower as the upstairs one looked really bad.

Great for a small group

We had 3 adults, there 3 bedrooms (single beds), so it was perfect. Just a few minutes from town and 10-15 minutes from Watch Hill and the State Beach.

Spacious, good value vacation home

We were very pleased with the amount of space, 3 double bedrooms and 2 lounges, as we were a family group with our adult children and a grandchild. Well equipped with washer dryer, and host was easy to contact. In an a quiet location close to amenities, and close to a lovely historic area. We did feel like we were staying in someone’s home, as closets were filled with personal belongings and family photos were dotted around, and it could do with some updating/refreshing (eg our bed sheets felt very worn). But considering the price it’s good value and perfect for people who like staying in grandma’s home.

Great stay in CT

We really enjoyed our stay in Dan’s house. The location was wonderful and the neighborhood was quiet and felt safe. Google maps takes you to the wrong address and the house was hard to find at night. The house was clean and had plenty of space, but the furniture (with the exception of the beds) was very worn and could use updating. The beds were very comfortable.
