Inviting Lakefront Comfort in Historic Harrisville
Enjoy a lovely, welcoming, and comfortable 3-bedroom home on the lake. If relaxing and unwinding in a sunny spot is your goal, this is the place for you. Swim, kayak, and canoe from the dock, June to mid-September. Ideal for hiking, biking, and walking down scenic dirt roads May to November. Wonderful for reading, photography, painting – or purely relaxing. Stay at this historic country Victorian house in a quintessential New England village. The village is charmingly centered around restored mill buildings and conserved lakes, streams, and greenspace.
A few dates are still available in early June and late August, as well as September through October—a beautiful time transitioning from summer to the blazing colors of fall. Enjoy Village views, as well as sunrises and sunsets, from the porches or small screened gazebo at water's edge—a perfect spot for yoga, a good book, writing, or meditation. Take a five-minute walk to the village store for morning coffee or a gourmet lunch, and visit the area’s music, art and craft studios, antique stores, and theater productions.
The house sleeps four comfortably. It is a great get-away for two. It has 2 baths, one on each floor, and 3 bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen bed. There is a double futon on the 1st floor. The open-concept kitchen is fully equipped and includes a spacious dining area overlooking the lake and the 19th century village of Harrisville. Two steps down is a restored book-lined "barn" room with wide-board pine floors, and a wood stove for chilly nights. Beyond is a screened porch with rockers, and a table and chairs for dining, that looks directly out onto the water. There is upgraded WiFi and a flat screen with Roku and HD cable for streaming, but no live TV.
The region offers beautiful and interesting hikes and walks and bike paths of varied lengths and challenges. Mt. Monadnock, just 20 minutes to the south, is among the most-hiked mountains in the world, and it was a favorite of Thoreau. Fish the local lakes and rivers. Canoe and kayak from the dock. Or sit on the porch in a rocking chair and watch a storm coming up the lake. Swimming can be great into early September.
Enjoy locally sourced meals at the Harrisville General Store seven days a week, or take a five-minute drive up to Aldworth Manor where you can enjoy delicious dinners on Public Nights and other special occasions.
September and October are lovely for enjoying quiet, warm days, and cool early autumn nights by the wood stove. Golden months on a Golden Pond. Take a drive to Walpole for apple picking mid-August to mid-October, and enjoy the Monadnock Art Tour with open studios throughout the region on October 12, 13 and 14.
The nearby towns of Peterborough and Keene, 20 minutes to the east and west, offer interesting shopping and a variety of restaurants. Antiquing is an attraction region wide. Public tennis courts and golf courses can be found in Peterborough and Keene. We are close to the popular wedding venues Cobb Hill, Aldworth Manor, and Mayfair Farm.
Harrisville itself is an iconic example of picturesque New England. Its textile mills and surrounding brick buildings were declared a National Historic Landmark in 1977. The textile tradition continues to this day. Knitters and weavers will love visiting Harrisville Designs—a premiere destination for textile classes and locally made yarns, looms, potholder weaving kits, and more.
The comfort of 19 Main Street, nestled in the quaint village of Harrisville, is a place to kick back, completely relax, celebrate, create, reunite with family or friends, and enjoy. Out of respect for neighbors, though, it is not a place for rowdy parties. Come and see!

Our stay was perfect. The house is all that is promised and more. We attended a family wedding in Harrisville so the location could not have been better. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us.
Harrisville is a charming village in a gorgeous setting. The house is spacious and accommodating for large groups but cozy enough for a small party. The eat-in kitchen was well-appointed. The only issues we encountered were related to cleanliness (mouse dropping in the pull-out sofa and mildew in the first floor bathroom) and uneven floors (83-year old family member).
Superb from start to finish. The booking process was easy, the house was perfect, and views were to die for.Our host Eleanor is a gem, and the world is a better place, because of her.Harrisville is such a beautiful village, everyone was friendly and welcoming. The local village store has everything you'd need, and a bit more.We loved every moment.

Wonderful guests.
Welcome them back any time.
Encourage other hosts to do the same.
My family and I fully enjoyed our stay. The house is full of character, charming, and peaceful, the kind of spot we prefer. Harrisville is a cute town - I suggest taking a walking tour and checking out the library and general store. This home is in a gorgeous spot, and I highly recommend it to all.
Our stay at this lovely home was truly delightful! Nestled in a picturesque town, the house feels warm and welcoming from the moment you arrive. The attention to detail, from the well-stocked kitchen to the cozy beds, made our stay so comfortable. Eleanor's thoughtful touches made all the difference, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!
We had a delightful stay at 19 Main. Harrisville is one of our favorite towns. Eleanor was a super host. She was always available and was easy to communicate with throughout the process. The photos of the home were exactly as pictured. We wouldn’t hesitate staying here again!
We had the most wonderful time at this beautiful vintage home. It is quirky and unique and the perfect place to disconnect from technology and connect with your family. Our children enjoyed walking to the general store and the beach as well as canoeing right from the house's own dock. Eleanor was kind and responsive and we look forward to returning.
Just what we wanted! Charming, quiet, right on a picturesque pond. The house is a little bit quirky which we loved it. My only hesitation in giving it the high review I did is that it might be hard for us to book a return trip!

I’m a little biased because it used to be our grandparents house so I obviously enjoyed being there to see how things had changed and what had stayed the same. I was little when we moved away so I didn’t remember all the quirks of Harrisville being an historical town. Eleanor was super helpful and we had everything we needed (except sunshine) for our stay.
19 Main Street is an amazing property. It is exceptionally clean and well-maintained. The amenities are above and beyond: breakfast fixings, lots of chocolate, toothbrushes, robes hanging in the bathroom, the best pillows and very comfy beds, just to name a few.
We are looking forward to our return trip in the fall.
My wife and I had this property for four nights to attend wedding activities at my daughter's farm. The house is very spacious, eclectically furnished, has fascinating artwork, and is very comfortable. We had two quiet receptions during our time there (after checking with the owner) and the house was a perfect venue. The location on the lake and steps from the village was both quiet and convenient. After busy days at our daughter's place, we relaxed in the adirondack chairs lakeside. No complaints.
Fall is so beautiful in New Hampshire and this property definitely had a gorgeous view. The house was a comforting New England style which was so lovely for our family. My husband and I will definitely bring our family back sometime in the future years. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
This is our second time at this charming home right in
an idyllic town. Eleanor was so thoughtful, available and
has a beautiful country home.
We loved our time in this area of NH. Everything was perfect
including the gorgeous fall colors.
This is a lovely antique home right on Harrisville Pond. The owner Eleanor is very responsive and made sure we had a good experience. We had some issues with checking in, but Eleanor allowed us to use the outside facilities. We were happy that linens and towels were provided as this is not always the case. When we got inside we were pleasantly surprised to see that not only was there a well equipped kitchen, but Eleanor had left us lots of goodies from breakfast items, fruit, cookies, chocolate and even a bottle of wine! Eleanor also made arrangements with her neighbor so that we could have 3 kayaks which we really appreciated. The one downside is that the water in the house comes from the lake, but again, Eleanor provided us with lots of jugs of water. Once we remembered to use the jug water to drink and brush teeth, etc. We were okay. With good weather, good friends and lots of kayaking, we had a great weekend!
We had a beautiful long weekend with gorgeous fall colors and
the majestic Harrisville. The house was great, plenty of space and the bed comfortable.
We will return!
Eleanor is a pleasure to communicate with!
We had a great time on our stay in this lovely home in Harrisville. The house was roomy and comfortable, with a well-equipped and supplied kitchen and cozy bedrooms. The enclosed porch at the back of the house and the backyard (love those Adirondack chairs!) look out over the water and across to the town library and church. We loved relaxing in the large rear living room and made good use of the wood stove on a couple of cool evenings. A highlight was taking the short walk to the Harrisville general store, where we enjoyed coffee and tea and a couple of very tasty lunches. The people we met there were welcoming and friendly. Eleanor was a great host - professional and attentive to our needs and questions. We'll be back!
Thanks for a great stay in this picturesque little town. We were looking for a lake side retreat to relax for a few days and this place was perfect. We had everything we needed and more. Would rent again in future!
Sitting on the porch having morning coffee overlooking the pond was amazing. The home was full of fun nooks and crannies. So fun to explore. Loved the kitchen for having family meals. Ms. Dury was very responsive to any questions we had. Being able to walk to the general store have a bite to eat and visit with the locals was wonderful. Harris villa is a wonderful place to just walk around. It was wonderful.
This property is both on the shore of beautiful Harrisville Pond, and just steps away from the historic Harrisville mill village and its delightful general store. Lots to see and do in Cheshire County: boating, swimming, kayaking, hiking, mountain climbing, bicycling, photography, and sampling all the cider donuts. The house is roomy and comfortable, with an up-to-date kitchen.
