We had an amazing stay here. Perfect home in the most beautiful location. The house was stocked with most of what we needed and was walking distance to everything else. The only thing to note is that three of the third floor rooms do not have air conditioning so were very hot especially during the day. Luckily with our group size only one person had to sleep in one of those rooms and there were fans supplied that made it tolerable for them. Overall would 100% stay here again!!
This place is wonderful! If you have a large family or group of friends, this is an ideal rental. Large enough to have your own space and cozy enough to feel togetherness. Ideal walking distance to all of Bar Harbor!
Great houseGreat weatherWonderful town and activitiesFerry ride to Schoodic peninsula was a hitHouse is old and tired and housekeeping was very lacking
I'm not sure where to start. "Sunset" is such an amazing home, I struggle to come up with enough superlatives. The location is fantastic. It is only one house from the Bar Harbor land bridge, 1.5 blocks from the Hannaford grocery store and 1 block from the start of the downtown shops. The home had so many features that reminded me of my grandparents lake home when I was growing up (in a great way). The furniture, the staircases, the butlers pantry, the food pantry, woodwork, bathrooms, etc.The kitchen was the most well equipped kitchen I have ever experienced in a VRBO propertyMost importantly, it was perfect for a family vacation with children and grandchildren. I have no doubt this will become a lifelong memory for my grandchildren. I know it will be for my wife and me.Thank you for the opportunity to stay in this beautiful home.

We are so happy that you loved our home and made many lifelong memories there. It is truly a special place for us that we love to share with others. We hope you will come back!
We love the location! Could walk to so many Places, shops and restaurants. The house held all of us comfortably. Our whole family could be in one place for a whole week!! It was the best!
Perfect location! Being only a short walk into town was great! No worries about parking. More than enough room to accommodate our guests comfortably. just a beautiful space and comfortable stay.
Everything about the stay was great. Right next to downtown and the walk to Bar Island. A huge house with everything you need. Simple check-in and friendly hosts!
Our family enjoyed this property and it's proximity to town as well as the land bridge. It was wonderful to be able to walk to shops and restaurants. The house is spacious with ample room for large groups, as ours was.
Great property for 3 generation family vacation. Plenty of room to spread out. Well supplied with necessities. Gorgeous outdoor space. Perfect location walkable to everything. Would definitely book again if vacationing in the area.
1910 Shingle-style mansion in the heart of Bar Harbor
Landmark 1910 Shingle-style mansion centrally located next to downtown Bar Harbor, just steps from the sand bar to Bar Island. House was as advertised; maintenance and operating features fine; booking and check-in process smooth. A perfect venue for an extended family reunion. (We booked the house for my wife's 70th birthday.)
Large mansion built in 1910 within easy walking distance to center of town and the sandbar. Many great spaces to gather friends and family (glass porch, large dining room, large backyard). Plenty of parking, good washers and dryers. Very nice owner / operator.
My family greatly enjoyed our stay at Sunset; the location truly can't be beat and the large house fits any size family and friend combo. Angelique was super helpful and easy to communicate with. Hope to be back!
Beautiful and spacious home. Within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor.
Weather was pretty rainy with Tropical Storm Lee just off the coast. Thank goodness for this spacious home. Plenty of space for grandkids to play.
There was plenty of room for all of us. The kitchen was well equiped. Some of our family members we’re working online and there were several areas to insure privacy etc. close to shopping , interesting places to eat.
Best location in town. Quick walk to downtown, grocery store, and ice cream shops. There were three generations of a family - twelve in total...but no one felt crowded because there is so much room. Everyone loved the "old world charm" of the house.

"Sunset" home well-named; favorite time of day!
Huge house, great for large families. Perfect location for walking to Sand Island and everywhere downtown. Ample parking. Three stories, lots of stairs; there is a good bedroom downstairs. Only 2 steps up to the front door. Quiet.
Location! Location! Location and More! As my eight-year-old grandson wrote in the guestbook, "The house is huge. It is right next to the beach very convenient." We are a family of 14. Everyone had a comfortable bed and there were two beds left over. A few of the rooms had en suites and other bathrooms were shared by two rooms. The kitchen was well stocked and there were grills outside for cooking. We rarely cooked because there are dozens of restaurants within walking distance. We were only a block away from downtown. Two blocks to a grocery store. There were lobster rolls and ice cream available on every block. Besides the fresh seafood restaurants there are also Italian, Indian, an Irish Pub, etc. Many places for breakfast or brunch. The lane down to the low tide walk to Bar Island is right next to the house. We also used the beach for exploring tide pools and swimming. The house also had lots of games, books, puzzles and more inside, and a beautiful terrace and large yard with lawn games, a hammock and an eating area. Then there is Acadia National Park. We all hiked and hiked! Some rented bikes in town and biked the carriage trails. Others drove to Schoodic Point and biked the perimeter. We had dinner at Jordan Pond House. We went sea kayaking, took a boat ride and a carriage ride, drove to the top of Cadillac Mountain to watch the sunset, etc. Our stay at Sunset House was the perfect base for our adventures.

Wow. It sounds like yall had a fabulous stay and I am so happy we were able to host your wonderful vacation! Please share our information with others and we hope you will come back.
Our 15 consisted of 2 grandparents, 6 parents and 7 children ages 6-17. Everyone had great sleeping quarters and room to be all together. The back porch looking over the land bridge to Bar Island was our favorite. Location was perfect for our activities of eating, shopping and hiking Acadia! We were especially impressed with the Owner's quick and positive response to our one request. Thank you so much for opening your home to our family. The wonderful memories of this place will last us a long time!
Overall we had a great stay at the property. Space to spread out with a large group and location can’t be beat. The house is steps from the shopping, food and drinks. Behind the house is the sandbar that leads to bar island.
Had a couple of minor issues however , there was some significant staining on at least one of the couches as well as a not very clean floor throughout the house. Earlier reviews calling it old house clean is a perfect way to phrase it.
Communication was ok but we had asked one question that was left unanswered by host.

Thanks for your review. The sofa on the back porch is an heirloom piece. It is a very unique alphabet print. It is cleaned regularly but does have an ink stain from a previous renter. We are hoping to find someone who can use the arm rest to get the stained area patched.
The floors are swept and mopped between every renter. I will definitely let my housekeeper know to be more thorough - thanks for letting me know.
I am not sure what question went unanswered but I sincerely apologize - I may not always be able to address everything immediately with Bar Harbor being an island and things taking time to get there but I do always try to respond quickly
