About this property

Unique, Private, & Walking Distance to Town

VRBO shows that the property is 1 mile to city center. I am .4 miles- a quick walk up the street, across a park, and down to the center of Main Street, the heart of the village. This village area is the most desired in Lake Placid.

You have lots of space to enjoy! Placid Chalet has three floors of comfort and roominess for your Lake Placid get away. The kitchen is open to the dining and living room. The home has beams throughout the home and the balconies make it a one of a kind home. When coming to Lake Placid you want the feel of a true ADK get away and Placid Chalet has this inside and out.

The two balconies are great hideaways for a morning cup of coffee or a get away reading nook.

Placid Chalet also has a large attached deck connected to the main living room with a magnificent forest view and cozy furniture. It expands the living space greatly.

Below this deck is a ground level patio. The covered deck provides an additional private outdoor entertainment space. There is a large propane grill with side burner. There are ADK chairs, pub style table, and such for lounging. Three levels of space give everyone the room they need and enjoy.

There are two large TV’s with cable access in two different living spaces. The 4K TV has internet access. Your guests can enjoy different areas!

Some of the kitchen and one living space has radiant floor heating to keep your toes warm!

We are less than a quarter mile to the nearest restaurant and .4 miles to the movie theater. Walking to town is so close, fast, and enjoyable. The Jack Rabbit Trail is behind the house for exploring- you will just need to go to the outlet of the trail that is close by.

This house has unparalleled privacy on a one acre lot- something seldom found in other village properties. This makes Placid Chalet so unique. There is much parking on a horseshoe driveway with additional parking spaces. No need to shuffle cars. If you have a boat or trailer, this gives you such ease in parking. But take note, Lake Placid only allows 4 guest cars.

The entire house has ADK flair inside and out with unique handmade Adirondack art and furnishings.

Bring your kayaks! Two free Lake Placid boat launches are so close with ample free parking. Mirror Lake also has easy launching at the public beach.

Towels, sheets, soaps and shampoos are provided. The kitchen is well stocked for your staples for your cooking needs. There are also BBQ utensils and a large clam pot.

There is an assortment of figure skates/hockey skates in the basement for guest use. Also, in winter, there are an assortment of kids and adults snow shoes to explore- especially the JackRabbit Trail!

I know you will love it! I think there is no better place to stay in the village!

Just remember- I use the home often also- I want it extremely clean for myself also and keep it that way for my guests too! When I do have a house cleaner clean the home she charges $225- yet I do not charge the guest that entire fee.

Adorable home, so clean, close to Main St!!
We had 3 adult couples staying here. The home is super cute with great attention to detail! Incredibly clean, very spacious…we come to LP often and will definitely keep this place in mind for future trips. The host was also incredibly kind and accommodating! A nice walk to Main St puts you right in the action but with plenty of peaceful privacy at the house!

Perfect Chrismas week vacation
This property has everything, including 5 pairs of snowshoes, which were put to good use on the Jack Rabbit Trail! The house was nicely decorated for Christmas, immaculate, well organized, cozy, convenient, and had a well stocked kitchen. The beds were also very comfortable. It was a perfect size for our group of ten. Looking forward to a return trip here for a Lake Placid summer experience in the future!

Well equipped and ckean
Everything was as advertised. Like most of LP, the walk to Main St is very hilly. 3 bathrooms worked out great, open floor plan has tons of room on main and lower levels.

About the host

Hosted by Cathleen

Host profile image
I have always loved Lake Placid. It was always the place I would take vacations and short weekend trips with the family since 1980’s. Here I fell in love with Lake Placid’s European-like charm and small town friendliness. Not to mention, endless year round activities here in Lake Placid make this a four season playground!

I recently purchased this home and can not live permanently there yet, so until I do I would like to share my home and love of Lake Placid with others!

Why they chose this property

This home has much character and Adirondack charm from the beamed ceilings and gorgeous bedroom balconies. It has great open space inside for friendly gathering. But also, additional space to have privacy. The yard provides much space to play and explore. Best yet, it is a quick walk to the busy Main Street. If you are looking for a Lake Placid- Adirondack experience- you should check out Placid Chalet!

What makes this property unique

It is located on an acre of land which gives the home great privacy in the village. The neighbors are well secluded from us unlike most village homes.
