- Full kitchen & dining area for simple meals & games

The Space:
The night sky stretches over the dome like a dark velvet canvas, constellations glittering just beyond the floor‑to‑ceiling windows. A gentle breeze rustles the pine‑scented woods as you step onto the private deck, the fire pit crackling and sending warm embers into the crisp winter air. Inside, the king‑size bed invites you to sink into soft linens while the lofted queen bed offers a perch for stargazing from the comfort of your pillow. The scent of wood smoke mingles with the fresh, cold mountain air, creating a quiet retreat where time seems to slow.
Sleeping arrangements
The dome sleeps four guests. A king bed occupies the main level, and a queen loft bed rests above, reachable by a short staircase. Both beds are positioned to frame the night sky through expansive windows, making every night feel like a private observatory.
Interior comforts
The interior blends cozy furnishings with practical amenities. Heating keeps the space snug during frosty evenings, while air conditioning is ready for milder days. Wi‑Fi, a flat‑screen TV, and a sound system provide entertainment and the option to work remotely. A full bathroom with shower and essential toiletries lets you refresh without stepping back into the cold. A sound machine is available to mask any distant road noise.
Kitchen & dining
A compact kitchen offers the basics for simple meals—coffee maker, stovetop, and refrigerator. A dining table seats four, perfect for sharing breakfast, board games, or planning the next hike. The space feels inviting without overwhelming you with excess appliances.
Outdoor living
Your private deck extends the living area outdoors. The fire pit becomes the heart of evening gatherings, ideal for s’mores or quiet conversation under a sky full of stars. A BBQ grill adds the option of grilling even in cooler weather, and outdoor seating lets you soak in the surrounding forest views.
Setting & shared property notes
Orion sits on 35 wooded acres at one of the highest points of the Wardensville retreat. While another dome sits about 100 feet away and a yurt over 400 feet distant, your dome retains its own deck and fire pit for a sense of seclusion. Free parking is available on the premises, and a cleaning crew sweeps the deck and walkways before each arrival.
Area highlights
A short drive leads to hiking trails, fishing spots, and Lost River State Park. Nearby towns offer cafés, restaurants, and local shops for relaxed afternoons before returning to the dome’s warmth.
Winter travel considerations
Snow and ice can make roads slick; a four‑wheel‑drive vehicle or tire chains may be required. We recommend travel insurance for winter visits, as road conditions are beyond our control.

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert
I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
Why they chose this property
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this cabin in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
