The Space:
Ever wanted to sleep under the stars? This “loft” style luxe glamping dome will have you sleeping at the highest point directly under the stars. Perfect for stargazing, watching the fall leaves, wintery snow days and rainy afternoons. Looking for a good place to hike and explore, access to Lost River is .5 miles from the Dome. Our luxe glamping dome has everything you need for a unique getaway with gorgeous mountain views and modern furnishings - surely to make this a trip you won’t soon forget!
The dome includes:
- A cozy king bed & queen (loft type)
- An indoor full bathroom with a shower
- A well-equipped kitchenette with a mini-fridge, microwave, toaster oven, & coffee maker
- Smart TV where you can quickly sign in to your favorite streaming service
- WiFi strong enough for streaming movies and taking video calls
- Mini-split AC and heat to keep you comfortable
Outside, you’ll also find:
- A new hot tub on the deck, perfect for relaxing after an afternoon hike
- Deck with mountain-view seating
- Outside fire pit with plenty of seating
- Grill on the deck while enjoying the great outdoors
- Mountain-side swing, perfect for relaxing while enjoying the fresh air and stunning scenery
- .5 mile down the road is access to Lost River
Please note: The Canopy is part of a large private retreat, with one other property nearby (500 ft away). While you may see other guests at these properties during your stay, The Canopy is still quite secluded — with your own private hot tub, deck, and fire pit. BTW, if you’re interested in booking both the yurt and the dome, please let us know!
During inclement weather such as snow or ice, you may be required to have 4-wheel drive or tire chains. We also recommend Travel Insurance during the winter months. We do not give refunds for road conditions that are out of our control.
While you are surrounded by 35 pristine, wooded acres, there is a state route to the north that can lead to noise, especially in the winter months with no leaves on the trees. For this reason we have a sound machine on the bedside table for a great night’s sleep.
Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but due to the natural setting, you may still notice some leaves, pollen, or similar—especially during certain seasons. We appreciate your understanding as nature tends to leave its mark, no matter how often we tidy up!
Beyond the dome itself, there’s plenty to do just a short drive away:
- Love the outdoors? Lost River State Park has nearly 4,000 acres of dense forest and miles of hiking trails (15 min drive away)
- Lost River: Depending on recent rains, the river can be clear and slow moving or a little faster. It's great for a scenic stroll along the riverbanks or putting some water shoes on and dipping your toes in. It's a flourishing trout river and is great for fly-fishing.
- Looking for good restaurants & shopping? Both Wardensville and Lost River are two small towns just 10 mins from The Canopy, and both have fantastic cafes, restaurants, and art shops
- In the summer, head over to Trout Pond where you’ll find a small beach for swimming and fishing – perfect for families! (about 30 mins away)
This area of West Virginia has so much to offer, and The Canopy is the perfect place – whether you want to explore the area, or just cozy up at the yurt and take in the sunsets.
We’d love to host you!

About the host
Hosted by Tony Cappaert

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.
What makes this property unique
We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and this dome in particular. We love how cute and cozy our dome is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
