About this property
Firefly Cabin, A Forested Retreat on 300 private acres. 20 mins to Athens/O.U.
Firefly cabin, tucked deep in the woods, is the perfect place to escape. The cabin offers a peaceful retreat where you can temporarily separate from technology and connect with one another and the surrounding nature. Inside you will find comfortable, spacious rooms for both small and large gatherings. Outside, relax on the wrap around deck, sit around the fire pit, or hike our trails throughout the 300 acre property. The Firefly Cabin is one of several accommodations at Carpenter Inn.
The space
Our 2 story, 3 bedroom cabin has cathedral ceilings and tall windows creating a spacious and luminous interior. The downstairs includes one bedroom, a kitchen and dinette, a cozy living room with a wood burning stove, and a full bath with Jacuzzi tub and steam shower. Upstairs has two bedrooms and a half bath. The wrap-around deck provides a scenic view of the woods, as well as space for barbecues and gatherings.
The cabin's kitchen comes well equipped with most cooking/baking supplies, basic spices, and appliances. There is a drip coffee maker, French press, and electric water kettle, as well as regular and decaf coffee and teas provided. If there is any specific thing you think you may need during your stay, please don't hesitate to inquire....we probably have it!
The deck has two outdoor tables with seating for eating or lounging and a charcoal grill with a small bag of charcoal provided. Beside the cabin there is a large fire pit available to use with surrounding seating. Dry split firewood is provided.
Guest access
The entire cabin is yours during your stay!
Guests are also very welcome to explore the main grounds of the inn where they can find large flower gardens, a stocked pond for fishing or swimming, and the main office of the inn. We encourage guests to hike and explore our 300+ acres of forests and fields and can provide a map showing the property’s trails and perimeter.
The cabin is located down a private gravel drive. There is a small section of the road that is particularly steep. We frequently add gravel to the road to maintain accessibility, but it can be a little bumpy in spots where the larger gravel may be loose. We recommend that you drive at a steady speed or in low gear up the hill for better traction, especially if your vehicle doesn’t have four-wheel drive.
There are two parking spots beside the cabin. If you have more than two vehicles, you are welcome to park additional cars in our main parking lot located at the top of the hill. The walk down the hill from the main parking lot is about 700ft.
Other things to note
Due to our cabin’s very private location in the woods the cabin does not have WiFi or a TV. If you need access to the internet during your stay, you are very welcome to use the WiFi on the main grounds of the inn located at the top of the hill.
Cell phone reception can be spotty inside the cabin. Larger carriers, such as AT&T and Verizon, do come in well enough, especially on the deck, though we have heard Sprint and T-Mobile do not.
Although it takes a little getting used to at first, a stay at our cabin provides an opportunity to disconnect from technology and our often busy lives and focus on the natural environment and one another. Something our past guests have appreciated most about their stay!

About the host
Hosted by natanya
Hi, I’m Natanya!
I’m an Ohio native who loves creating welcoming spaces where people can relax, reset, and feel at home. Hosting is something that’s been in my family for years — I’m the second generation to help run our beautiful bed and breakfast, The Carpenter Inn and Conference Center. It’s truly a family business, and we’re all hands-on in making sure every guest has an exceptional stay.
We’re big on the details: clear communication, reliable service, and making everything as smooth and stress-free as possible from check-in to checkout. In addition to our lodging, we also host weddings, retreats, and special events at our conference center, so hospitality is something we live every day.
When we’re not preparing for guests, you can usually find us hiking at Strouds Run, grabbing a meal at Jackie O's with friends and family, or working on new ideas to continue improving our spaces.
Whether you’re visiting for a quiet getaway, an OU event, business travel, or just time to explore the area, our goal is for your stay to be easy, enjoyable, and memorable. And if you need anything at all, I’m always just a message away.
We look forward to hosting you!
