THE ELLIJAY OLIVE (sleeps 6 + 2 dogs) is the quiet life of the party, tucked into the wooded hills of Ellijay, Georgia.
This is a modern cabin with rustic soul and an uncanny warmth that glows inside and out. Wrapped by trees and perched on a full acre, it offers the feeling of an intimate retreat while sitting just 10 minutes from charming downtown Ellijay. This dwelling rests deep in the hills surrounding the Coosawattee River. Step inside and it feels entirely its own—secluded, calm, and deeply nurturing.
Arrive in the afternoon, drop your bags, head straight to the forest deck and exhale. You’ll catch the sun peeking through those trees as families of deer greet you from below. The same mid-day warm light spills softly into the wide open living space and kitchen, as if the cabin has been waiting for you to make a home cooked meal.

This home is a thoughtfully crafted getaway to reconnect with what matters most. It's designed for playful reflection, creature comforts, and moments worth toasting (which is ANY, you name it)...
Inside, vaulted ceilings and clean wood paneling are balanced with rustic touches like a stone fireplace and a live-edge dining table softly contrasted by modern finishes and light fixtures. Layered throughout the cabin are soft textures, cozy throw blankets, and intentional details that invite you to linger.
Though they've welcomed you into their home, the deer are frequent visitors of your getaway, often appearing from the forest edges as quiet reminders that no moment is too small to celebrate.

The Ellijay Olive kitchen was envisioned as a home cook’s haven—less about presentation, more about process. It’s fully stocked with everything you need to cook together: from a KitchenAid mixer and Ninja blender to curated, tactile tools that make the act of cooking feel grounding and joyful. This is where kitchen dance parties begin long before dinner is ready, cake batter spatulas double as microphones, and slow moments turn into lasting memories.
GATHER BY THE FIRE
We provide a bundle of wood and kindling for every stay. As evening settles in, light a warm fire in one of two ways:
* The indoor wood-burning stove with mini lounge (NOTE: living room & primary bedroom fireplaces are NOT functional at present)
* Outside fire pit for roasting marshmallows beneath the trees
Later, when the kids are asleep and dogs curled up at rest, pour a glass of wine and step onto the back porch under the stars. These are the moments where you quietly say, "This day was well spent."

PRIMARY BEDROOM "The Olive Grove"
A quiet, shadowed retreat with private double doors opening onto the forest deck. Set the mood with your own dedicated Apple HomePod here. Wrapped in darkened walls, soft white ceilings, and clay-toned bedding, this king bedroom is a cocoon for grown-ups. Like stepping beneath a canopy at dusk, it’s hushed, intimate, and deeply calming—a place to sleep in and wake restored.
SECOND BEDROOM "The Olive Jar"
Drenched in olive green inspired by Castelvetrano olives—sweet, light-bodied, and native to Sicily, where our family’s story began. With cushy bunk beds for little ones and a Tuft & Needle queen for the young at heart, this room is cheerful, cozy, and full of personality. Bedtime stories may run long, and laughter often lingers after lights out. A sound machine here hushes these guests toward restful sleep.
LOFT SPACE (add'l accommodation)
A spacious loft with a pull-out sofa & cozy desk set up—perfect for remote work or writing a postcard. Let us know if you’d like the bed set up before arrival. Two cushy dog beds are staged here but free to be relocated anywhere in the cabin.
All beds feature premium mattresses, feather-down pillows, luxe linens, sound machines, and night lights for extra comfort.
PREPARED FOR FAMILIES & DOGS
Designed with peace of mind in mind, the property features fencing around the deck and yard so kids and pups can move safely from front yard to back deck. Family ready with amenities like a pack n play, sound machine, black out curtains and Honest shampoo & body wash. Dogs are provided doggie blanket, food and drink bowls, waste bags and outdoor trash bin for disposal.
PET FEE & ACCOMODATIONS
We are happy to accommodate dogs at a pet fee of $50/ dog with a max of 2 dogs per stay. You must indicate appropriate number at check out. Please monitor your dogs at all times.
PET RULES
1. We cannot allow pets that are not house trained and/or are menstruating. All dog waste must be picked up, bagged and disposed of in designated trash bin.
2. Keep dogs off the beds. We are happy to provide 2 doggie beds of their own (1 large & 1 small) for use anywhere indoors, and dogs are permitted to sit upon sofas with use of designated doggie blankets at all times. Thank you for preserving our people amenities!
3. If fur is found on beds, excessive fur on sofas, or pet accidents of all kinds (i.e. waste, sickness or property damage), fees start at $100 for extra cleaning time, supplies and repairs.
4. Do not leave your pet outdoors for extended periods of time. When leaving dogs indoors unattended, please close all bedroom doors to prevent their access to beds.

My hosting journey began fresh out of college while traveling, when I found myself stranded in Sicily with no money left, having spent it all on gelato and cannoli! I had no way home. Desperate, I begged my way onto trains. One attendant I’ll never forget. We were lost in translation, and I was in tears, but he graciously ushered me aboard. Soon after, he returned with a homemade sandwich, split it in half, and handed me a piece. In that moment, he offered something that needed no translation: You belong.
My career in storytelling has spanned film and television, home styling, culinary arts, and event design, eventually leading me to vacation rentals. In 2020, as the world spiraled into isolation and travel became a lifeline, I remembered my Sicilian train “host,” Salvatore. I opened The Olive Jar, serving other hosts with experiential design, to carry that feeling forward—welcoming travelers with generous warmth, story, and care, all rooted in one promise: Getaways to Reconnect.
Married for 17 years, on a wild adventure with our daughters, Sicily & Eva, and Jeff’s dad too, we’re honored to open our very own getaway, The Ellijay Olive, to travelers who value connection through boutique overnight stays.

Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Ellijay one Christmas long ago, after a first time visit to the Blue Ridge area. We were living in Los Angeles, visiting family in Atlanta at the time. It was on our drive back to the city that we discovered the beautiful countryside of Ellijay with a river running through it. We said a prayer that if we could ever own a vacation rental one day, that it would be here in Ellijay. Four years later this cabin practically fell into our laps--not even looking to buy at the time, but ready for dreams to come true as as we made our cross country move back to Georgia.
The moment we knew it was for us was watching the setting sun peek through the forest of trees like magic, while deer after deer came by for a visit. Connecting with nature here is simply so beautiful. The forest deck is our place to breathe it all in, while back inside, the kitchen warms our soul--cozy and inviting while spacious enough to cook up a storm. We dream of small, significant moments made through memorable meals here.
