The Casita was perfect for us. Communication was excellent with helpful directions to reach the accommodation. Shirley lives in the large house and rents out two smaller houses which share the gardens and pool. The location is superb and the views are stunning across a narrow gorge inhabited by griffon vultures which soar really close by. The peace is wonderful yet it is an easy walk to the top of Casares. We tended to take the car to the free multistorey car park in the village in order to avoid walking up and down the the many steps in the village. Although Shirley, the owner, was away when we arrived she had left an excellent welcome pack - coffee, milk, bread, ham, bacon, eggs, fruit, beer, wine etc as well as basics such as olive oil, pasta, salt & pepper etc. Indeed, we did not need to buy any of the basics that are so often lacking in holiday rentals. The kitchen was very well equipped and had all one could need for cooking and this is what we tended to do - have lunch out in Casares, on the coast or in one of the very good restaurants on the main road out of the village and eat in at night enjoying the quiet with the occasional hooting of the resident eagle owl which we saw in its daytime hideaway.
The bedroom was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and everything in the casita was immaculate. Although the weather was changeable in September we still managed to use the lovely pool most days. The only slight disappointment was that the sun left the casita terrace by early afternoon although it remained on the pool for longer. We noticed that the terrace at the main house, also for rent, was in sunshine for longer but did not have such a good view of the families of vultures.
All in all we were very impressed with the quality of the accommodation and the area in general and would certainly recommend it for people who enjoy peace and quiet yet who want to be within easy reach of the coast and spectacular countryside and white villages.
