Thanks Vicky! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.
Thank you for taking such great care of the cabin. We appreciate you choosing to stay with us and would be happy to host you again anytime you're back in the Smokies!
Chris was a very good host. Made the check in/process a breeze. Cabin was very clean and cozy. Only real issues we had was the the pool table was not level. Also the upstairs got extremely warm as to be expected as we all know heat rises. I would stay here again if I was in the area on vacation. Very short commute to town for necessities. Also we did see bears while there. Walked right up to us in the hot tub. Thanks for everything Chris.
Lovely property, very clean and well stocked. Even saw a bear and a cub.

About the host
Hosted by Chris Garnes
Hi, I’m Chris. I’m a contractor and small business owner based in West Virginia, and I’ve always loved the Smoky Mountains. The Black Pine is a place I’ve personally worked on and continue to improve so guests can slow down, relax, and enjoy the mountains the same way I do.
Hosting gives me the chance to share a space that feels comfortable and welcoming from the moment you arrive — whether you’re here for hiking, exploring Gatlinburg, or simply enjoying a quiet evening by the fire or in the hot tub. I take pride in keeping the cabin clean, well cared for, and easy to enjoy so your trip feels effortless.
My goal is simple: to create a place where guests can make great memories and want to come back again.
Why they chose this property
This area offers one of the best balances in Gatlinburg — peaceful wooded surroundings while still being just minutes from downtown attractions, restaurants, and the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
I chose this location because guests can enjoy the quiet mountain setting without long or difficult drives after a day of exploring. Whether you’re hiking, visiting town, or just enjoying the scenery from the deck or hot tub, it’s an ideal home base for experiencing everything the Smokies have to offer.
What makes this property unique
The Black Pine combines classic log cabin charm with modern comfort. High wood ceilings, a stone wood fireplace, and open living spaces create a cozy mountain feel, while updated amenities make your stay easy and comfortable. Guests especially enjoy the private hot tub, wrap-around deck, and game area for relaxing evenings after a day out.
Because the cabin is personally managed and continuously updated, attention is given to the details that matter most — comfort, cleanliness, and a space that feels both authentic and inviting. It’s designed to be just as enjoyable for a quiet weekend getaway as it is for a small group or family trip.
