About the host
Hosted by Mark Anthony Stephens
I’m an explorer at heart and draw energy from discovering new places—or seeing familiar ones from a fresh perspective. Travel, for me, is about curiosity, connection, and experiencing what is truly rich, diverse, and beautiful in the world. My most meaningful trips have been shaped by local insight, which gave me the confidence to venture beyond the obvious and discover something authentic. I host in my hometown to help guests experience the real Chicago in the same spirit.
Why they chose this property
I chose this neighborhood because it offers a rare balance: it’s vibrant and culturally rich, yet calm and residential. Within easy walking distance, you’ll find legendary music venues like the Aragon Ballroom, Carol’s Pub, and the Green Mill; a diverse and evolving food scene; and easy access to Wrigley Field, the lakefront, and neighborhood parks. At the same time, quiet, tree-lined streets make it easy to forget you’re in one of the world’s largest cities. That unique juxtaposition—energy and serenity in the same place—is why I love living here.
What makes this property unique
What makes this property unique is the combination of thoughtful design, music-inspired character, and location. Set in a landmark 1915 brownstone, the apartment has been carefully renovated with modern comforts while preserving a strong sense of place. Original artwork, mid-century modern furnishings, and subtle nods to Chicago’s music history create an elevated, immersive stay—paired with a private entrance and easy access to some of the city’s most vibrant North Side neighborhoods.
