The Bartlett was an incredible property for a romantic getaway. We were looking for something quiet away from the resort towns and Twin Lakes was perfect. The house has an elevated cozy cabin feel. The bed was very comfortable and helped us catch up on much needed rest. The best part is that no matter where you are in the house, you have an incredible view of the lakes, mountains, and wildlife. We spent hours reading and talking out on the deck and looking at the stars from the hot tub.The location is amazing. Aspen is 45 minutes away over Independence Pass - one of the most scenic drives we have ever done. There is no shortage of hikes either around Twin Lakes or right out the front door.Sebastian and Krista were great with communication. I really liked the detailed property guide because it limited having to run to the app so we could disconnect for a long weekend. There is so much to do and so much more relaxation to be had that we will have to come back for a longer stay!

We’re Krista and Sebastian, the owners of The Bartlett. We live and work in Denver, but most Friday afternoons we head to our Twin Lakes cabin, The Bartlett, and most Monday mornings we head back to Denver.

We bought this house from close friends in 2026 after years of visiting and falling in love with it ourselves. It’s been our secret place to escape. When we’re at the cabin, you’ll find us on the deck drinking coffee, out on the ATVs exploring forest roads, or in the hot tub.

We host because we love this place and love watching guests discover what makes it special; the quiet at altitude, the elk in the meadow at dusk, the way the light hits the lakes at sunset.

If you need anything during your stay, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. We hope you enjoy the cabin and Twin Lakes as much as we do!

Why they chose this property

Twin Lakes is one of Colorado’s quietest secrets. It sits at the foot of Mt. Elbert, the tallest peak in Colorado, in a valley most travelers blow past on the way to Aspen or Leadville. That’s exactly why we love it.

The village: a general store, a few historic buildings, a creek running through. But step outside and you’re surrounded by 14ers, two glacier-fed lakes, and some of the best alpine terrain in the state. Independence Pass is 45 minutes West, Leadville and Buena Vista 30 the other.

What we love most is the quiet. No light pollution, no traffic, no crowds. At night you hear the wind in the aspens and not much else. In the morning, the lake is glass. Wildlife wanders through, elk, fox, the occasional moose down by the water. It’s the kind of place that makes you take pause and acknowledge the world around you.

What makes this property unique

The Bartlett is a hand-built log home on a wooded 1-acre lot at 9,500 feet on the skirt of Mt. Elbert. It is surrounded by an aspen grove and tall pine trees. The main floor includes a wrap around deck with the lakes visible through the trees. Inside, it feels like a small lodge, complete with cathedral ceilings, a floor-to-ceiling log burning stone fireplace, and copper details throughout.

A few things guests tend to remember: the copper soaking tub in the main floor bath, deep enough to lose an hour after a day on the trail. The hot tub set into the aspen grove. Hammocks strung between the trees. The wood-burning fireplace we keep stocked through winter. A 4-car garage we call The Barn, with room for gear, bikes, sleds, and skis.

What makes The Bartlett different isn’t the feature list. It’s that everything in the house was chosen with care by people who actually use it. The books, the blankets, and the art is all personally selected by the owners who frequently reside in the property. It’s a real home, lived in and loved, that we now share with you.
