Firefly Cottage has been part of our family for generations. Originally built in 1946, this little mountain cottage holds decades of memories for us — and I’ve been coming here since I was a baby. What started as our family’s special place to unplug and reconnect has now become something we’re excited to share with others.

We love the mountains of Western North Carolina and the charm of Hendersonville. Firefly Cottage is a peaceful place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy everything this beautiful area has to offer — from cozy evenings on the porch to hiking, waterfalls, wineries, breweries, and downtown adventures.

We love traveling as a family and know how important it is to stay somewhere that feels clean, comfortable, welcoming, and thoughtfully prepared. As hosts, our goal is to make your stay easy, relaxing, and memorable from booking to checkout.

We’re always happy to share local recommendations for restaurants, breweries, trails, family activities, and hidden gems around the area. Whether you’re visiting for adventure or simply to unwind, we hope Firefly Cottage feels like your mountain home away from home. And, if you stay during the summer months, you are guaranteed the firefly experience.

Reach out to us for any questions or if you need suggestions on what to do, we are happy to help.

Why they chose this property

My great grandfather selected this area in the 1940's, shortly after the war ended. He had a vision and now we are sharing it with you.

What makes this property unique

Unlike many newer short-term rentals that might be investment properties, Firefly Cottage is a true family mountain cottage with history, character, and heart. Originally built in 1946, the home has been part of our family for generations and has been lovingly updated while still preserving its cozy mountain charm.

What makes Firefly Cottage special is the feeling you get when you’re here. It’s peaceful mornings with coffee on the porch, cool mountain air, evenings under the stars, and summer nights watching fireflies flicker through the trees. Guests often tell us the cottage feels relaxing, nostalgic, and genuinely welcoming.

The location also offers the best of both worlds: a quiet mountain retreat while still being conveniently close to downtown Hendersonville, local wineries and breweries, hiking trails, waterfalls, apple orchards, and many of Western North Carolina’s most loved destinations like the Biltmore, the Smoky Mountains, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We’ve intentionally created a space that feels warm, comfortable, and personal — a place where couples, families, and friends can slow down, reconnect, and make lasting memories together.
