About this property
Spacious Seven Peaks Ridge: Quiet Side Hot Tub, Pet Friendly, Fire Pit & Deck
Seven Peaks Ridge takes its name from the seven summits of western Mount Desert Island—Beech, Acadia, St. Sauveur, Valley Peak, Flying Mountain, Bernard, and Mansell. Perched on Freeman Ridge, this stately colonial was designed for groups who value space, privacy, and the luxury of the "quiet side."
The clever layout keeps the gathering spaces on the main level while the sleeping quarters remain a quiet sanctuary upstairs, ensuring the whole party can relax without ever feeling on top of each other. This is more than just a place to sleep; it is a welcoming retreat that invites you to slow down, stay a while, and feel right at home. From the grand formal foyer to the cozy den with its freshened gas fireplace, the home offers a variety of inviting spaces to spread out, recharge, and truly settle in after a day exploring the island.
LIVING AND ENTERTAINING With a main living room, a cozy den featuring a gas fireplace, and a sunlit sitting room, there is always a quiet corner to land. The layout works especially well for families; early risers can take over the first floor while everyone else sleeps soundly above.
Upstairs, the primary suite offers an additional layer of privacy with its own dedicated Parent’s Retreat—a quiet lounge perfect for a morning coffee or a late-night book. To keep everyone entertained, the living room and every bedroom are equipped with Roku Smart TVs. With "Guest Mode" enabled, you can easily sign into your own streaming accounts and enjoy a movie night after a long day on the trails.
KITCHEN AND DINING The kitchen is fully equipped and stocked for everything from quick trail snacks to a multi-course feast. Centered around a KitchenAid gas range and oven, the space is a chef’s delight, complete with a dishwasher to make cleanup a breeze. Pull up a stool at the sun-drenched breakfast nook—which seats four and offers a natural flow between the kitchen and living areas—or gather in the formal dining room.
The dining room is a centerpiece of the home’s traditional charm, featuring a grand antique wooden table with seating for eight and classic maritime decor. Whether you’re sharing a locally caught lobster dinner or planning the next day’s hike over coffee, the layout ensures group meals are both easy and memorable.
BEDROOMS AND BATHROOMS All three bedrooms are located on the upper level, keeping the sleeping quarters a quiet sanctuary away from the main living areas. The Primary Suite is a true wing of the home, featuring a King bed and its own private sitting room—the Parent’s Retreat. This suite is uniquely designed for group convenience with a separate sink room located just outside the primary bath, allowing two people to get ready at once without compromise.
The two additional guest rooms are thoughtfully themed to create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The "Butterfly Room" features a comfortable Queen bed and classic decor, while the Twin Room has been freshly repainted in Navajo White and styled with a whimsical "Under the Sea" theme—complete with mermaids and shells to delight younger explorers. The home offers two full bathrooms upstairs and a convenient half bath on the main floor. We provide fresh linens, fluffy towels, and quality essentials throughout to ensure your group of six feels right at home from the moment you arrive.
LAUNDRY A full-sized washer and dryer are located in the spacious lower level—ideal for refreshing hiking gear or beach towels mid-stay. For your safety and convenience, we have equipped the staircase with sturdy handrails on both sides to ensure easy access to this space.
WORKSPACE & CONNECTIVITY We understand that even on the "Quiet Side," duty sometimes calls. Seven Peaks Ridge offers multiple high-speed WiFi-enabled zones to suit your needs:
The Parent’s Retreat: The private lounge off the primary suite serves as an ideal "laptop-friendly" sanctuary for remote work with total privacy.
The Den: A cozy, separate room featuring an oversized, comfortable chair—the perfect spot to settle in with a laptop or take a quiet video call by the gas fireplace.
The Creative Nook: A dedicated desk in the twin bedroom provides a quiet spot for children to craft or for teens to catch up on studies.
With upgraded high-speed internet throughout the estate, you can stay as connected as you need to be before unplugging for the day’s adventures.
GARAGE & GEAR STORAGE A rare find for the island, the estate includes a clean, oversized two-car garage. This space is more than just parking—it’s your dedicated hub for Maine adventures.
Vehicle Comfort: Keep your vehicles cool and out of the summer sun.
Secure Storage: A perfect, dry space to store your hiking boots, bicycles, or kayaking gear after a day in the Park.
For Your Four-Legged Explorers: To make traveling with your pets easier, the garage is stocked with a large dog crate, a pet carrier, bowls, and toys.
The garage connects to a large paved driveway with ample room for up to four additional vehicles or a boat/RV trailer, ensuring that parking is never a concern during your stay.
OUTDOOR SPACES & GROUNDS The grounds of Seven Peaks Ridge are what truly separate this estate from the rest. Sprawling and private, the exterior offers multiple distinct "zones" designed to highlight the beauty and seclusion of the "Quiet Side."
The Forest Well: Tucked away behind the estate for total seclusion, The Forest Well is our private hot tub sanctuary. It is designed for all-day recovery—whether it’s a mid-afternoon soak to reset your legs after a long day of trekking or a midnight retreat under the island’s famous dark skies. We have intentionally curated the lighting to be switchable, allowing you to disappear into the darkness and view the stars in total silence.
The Grand Deck: Located just off the kitchen, the massive, newly refreshed deck features outdoor dining and a grill, making it the perfect spot for an evening lobster bake while overlooking the lush tree line.
The Hilltop Fire Pit: Follow the path to a newly set up fire pit area perched on a small rise just off the back of the deck. This commanding vantage point offers a view over the entire property and is the ultimate spot for classic Maine nights under the stars.
The Great Lawn: The estate features an expansive, lush yard with a scale that is a true rarity on Mount Desert Island. It is a Favorite frequenting spot for the local herd of white-tailed deer; you’ll often find them grazing across the lawn in the quiet of the morning. There is plenty of room for kids and pets to play, and it’s even the perfect spot to practice your short game before heading down the hill for a round at the historic Causeway Club.
(Note: To ensure the safety of our frequent wildlife visitors and your furry friends, we ask that pets remain on a leash or a run while enjoying the grounds.)
ATTENTION OTHER THINGS TO NOTE!
LAYOUT & ACCESSIBILITY Please note that all bedrooms are located on the upper level. The laundry area is situated in the lower level and is accessed via a staircase; for your safety and convenience, we have equipped these stairs with sturdy handrails on both sides.
CLIMATE CONTROL To ensure your comfort during the warmer months, brand-new window AC units are installed seasonally in every bedroom. For cooler Maine evenings, the home features an updated oil baseboard heating system and a cozy gas fireplace in the den.
TECH & ENTERTAINMENT Entertainment is streaming-only via Roku Smart TVs located in the living room and all three bedrooms. While there is no traditional cable, "Guest Mode" is enabled so you can securely sign into your own streaming accounts. High-speed WiFi is provided throughout the estate.
PET POLICY We are a pet-friendly property. To ensure the safety of our resident wildlife (including our local deer herd) and your furry friends, we kindly ask that pets remain on a leash or a run at all times while enjoying the acreage.

Spacious and gracious!
The location of this property is ideal for visiting Bass lighthouse, taking in various hikes, visiting unassuming Southwest Harbor!
The property is large, with plenty of living space, inside and out. The big kitchen has a sweet breakfast nook which overlooks the deck, while the dining room would be perfect for a lobster feed. Outdoors, the jacuzzi is private, and away from the fire pit where we could star gaze, given the wide open vistas.
The garage was an extra treat, as it kept us from being drenched when one of the rain bursts descended.

Why they chose this property
Seven Peaks Ridge offers a rare combination on Mount Desert Island: the architectural grandeur of a stately colonial estate, the privacy of a wooded ridge, and the intentional soul of a true family home. While many island rentals feel transient, this estate is a place for immersion. It is where you can wake up to a herd of deer grazing on an expansive lawn, spend your afternoon summiting the nearby peaks of Acadia, and end your night in The Forest Well—our private hot tub sanctuary—counting stars under some of the most preserved dark skies on the Eastern Seaboard.
The "Together but Separate" Advantage We designed this home for the way modern groups travel. With four distinct living zones—including the private Parent’s Retreat lounge off the primary suite—you never have to choose between group connection and personal quiet. The "quiet side" isn't just a location; it’s the luxury of having enough space to breathe.
A True Pet-Friendly Retreat We know that for many, a Maine adventure isn't complete without the whole family. Unlike many estates, we truly welcome your four-legged explorers. To make your packing easier, our "Adventure Hub" garage is pre-stocked with a large dog crate, a pet carrier, bowls, and toys. With a massive yard to explore, your pets will love the Ridge as much as you do. (To protect our resident deer herd, we simply ask that pets remain on a leash or run while outdoors).
An Explorer’s Hub Skip the traffic and parking headaches of Bar Harbor. From our ridge, you are minutes from the island's best-kept secrets: the pristine waters of Echo Lake, the working waterfront of Southwest Harbor, and the historic fairways of the Causeway Club. With an oversized two-car garage and a massive driveway for boat or trailer storage, you have the rare luxury of space for all your gear.
At Seven Peaks Ridge, you aren't just visiting the island; you are living its most authentic, sophisticated chapter.
What makes this property unique
The "Quiet Side" Estate Experience Unlike many smaller cottages on Mount Desert Island, Seven Peaks Ridge offers the grand scale of a true colonial estate. You aren't just renting a house; you are gaining a private wooded ridge where the only morning traffic is the resident herd of white-tailed deer grazing on your lawn. It is a rare sanctuary that offers total seclusion while being only minutes from the island’s most iconic trailheads.
The Forest Well: A Destination Hot Tub We’ve transformed the hot tub experience into a destination. Tucked away at the edge of the woods, The Forest Well is designed for dark-sky immersion. With switchable lighting, you can turn off the world and soak under the stars in complete silence—a benefit unique to our light-pollution-free ridge location.
A Professional Adventure Hub For hikers, cyclists, and explorers, the logistical ease of this property is unmatched.
The Garage: A clean, oversized two-car garage provides a dry, secure place for expensive gear, bikes, and roof boxes.
The Parking: With a massive paved driveway that easily fits four cars plus a boat or RV trailer, you skip the "parking shuffle" common with island rentals.
The Pet-Ready Setup: We eliminate the stress of traveling with pets by providing a large crate, carrier, and toys on-site, allowing you to travel lighter and settle in faster.
Sophisticated Group Living The home’s layout is a major benefit for families and multi-generational groups. The Parent’s Retreat—a private lounge wing off the master suite—means that even in a full house, the heads of the household have a dedicated space to work, read, or enjoy a quiet morning coffee. From the high-end KitchenAid gas range to the newly refreshed "Under the Sea" kids' room, every detail is curated to provide a professional yet authentic Maine estate experience.
