Great location on the quiet side of Acadia! We appreciated the space (in and out), multiple bedrooms, and dining room table with room for at least 6! Even got to view deer in the backyard most mornings. Great stay!
This was an excellent place to stay while visiting Bay Harbor. The house was well equipped with all the essentials for cooking, coffee and sleeping. Thank you for having us!
The house was great with a mix of rustic and new. Perfect location for planning day excursions to Acadia National Park and surrounding seaside villages.
the house is beautiful, deer and other wild animals on the property. loved the wood stove. restaurants and shopping in Bar Harbor was a short ride. would rent again
Beautiful home and location! We loved the nearby trail walk to the bay and seeing the neighborhood deer. The house is beautifully done and we loved its atmosphere. Would definitely want to come back!
We stayed for a long weekend. The location to everything was oerfect we were able to drive in any direction to get to a site. The ammenaties were perfect and they had kids toys! 10/10 would rent again.
Excellent visit to MDI. Enjoyed the house and loved being on the quiet side of the island. House was exactly as described, clean and simply super cute! My family enjoyed listening to birds on the new deck! Highly recommend.
We love Acadia and this was a unique and fun home to stay in. We hadn’t stayed on this side of the island and I am glad we did. It was a fun location to do some things we hadn’t done before and the house/kitchen was perfect for us as a stopping ground. I would suggest adding another railing up to the loft, where the netting decoration is. Our kids ended up finding places to sleep on the main level because we were a little worried about safety coming down the stairs at night. It was also hot so we were more comfortable on the main level. We loved our stay and will be back.
I really liked this place. It was a nice wood cabin set back from the main roads. Surroundings were quiet and peaceful. The fire pit was amazing. Majority of regular gousehold needs/linnens/untensils were provided. Nice and clan interior. Only real nitpick is the grass couldve been cut, but other than that perfect!
Like an earlier reviewer said, a terrific spot. “Rustic” is well deserved but in a good way.Only quibble is downstairs bathroom is stated to be in basement but descending via pretty “rustic” stairs. Would have been nice for pictures of the downstairs bathroom and the stairs. It was okay but surprisingly rough. All in all, liked the place quite a bit. Just surprised at the basement stairs being a bit of a challenge and a very, very basic downstairs bathroom.A good stay at a good place!
My family of four had a wonderful experience while visiting Maine! This log cabin home topped off the outdoor experience while we hiked and did ocean kayaking. After a day of exploring Acadia and other surroundings, we couldn’t have asked for a better home to keep with the natural look and feel of Maine. Somewhat off the beaten path, which is what we wanted. Modern amenities, but the feel of being in the wilderness of Maine. Highly recommend the home and the host. Thank You for all the home had to offer.

Thank you Rich. I’m glad you and your family appreciate the outdoors as much as we do.
We enjoy the quiet side of Acadia, and quick proximity to the Park and many hiking paths. The rustic cabin was true to the photos and worked well for your group. Both the loft and basement stairs are steep, and require caution, the new, large deck off of the main floor was lovely in the morning for coffee and in the evening for cocktails. The kitchen was extremely well equipped and clean, as was the main floor bath. The two bedrooms cooled nicely in the evenjngs, however the loft can remain quite warm. The owner provided several fans, and we brought a few additional (and were glad we did.) We had a wonderful vacataion, knowing it would be rustic wifh modern comforts.
A spectacular log cabin in a beautiful part of Mount Desert Island. It's a fifteen minute drive to Acadia with none of the crowds. The living, dining, kitchen area is comfy and well appointed. Everything was spotlessly clean and in great working order. Great deck and outdoor area. Our only complaint is the stairways (inside and out). They were handmade with uneven steps, narrow treads, loose boards and wobbly handrails. Also, it felt more like a two bedroom, one bath because the 3rd bedroom was a loft accessed by a treacherous stairway and the 2nd bathroom (and laundry) were downstairs accessed by another treacherous stairway. Not the place for small children, older folks, or anyone with a disability. But if you're sure-footed and don't mind going downstairs to the sub-basement to use the second bathroom, it is absolutely ideal. It's a great value and quite lovely. I would definitely rent it again.
We enjoyed the cabin on the quiet side especially the amenities including bedding, towels, kitchen items, toys for the kids, and loved bringing our two dogs with us. The rustic decor was very nice and we loved the loft are for the kids however they had new roof, decks and skylights put in before we arrived (which they were up front about) and the downside was we didn’t allow the kids to use the loft area much as when we first arrived we found the area was hardly vacuumed and had saw dust in a lot of places as well as nails and screws. We also found nails outside in the grass so we were also afraid to let the dogs and kids out there much and were afraid to park our cars in the driveway for fear of a flat. The basement and loft stairs are definitely “rustic” like other reviews have mentioned. The neighbor was a little close for our liking especially as we hoped being on the quiet side we would have space. Overall we understood the situation with the recent construction the upgrades will definitely be a benefit to the property. Just not great timing for us. If not for that we would give 5 stars and if we ever traveled there again we would likely stay there.
There’s a lot to love about this cabin. It’s charmingly rustic and offers a lot of space and comfortable beds at a fair price. The “quiet side” location is peaceful. When we arrived, unfortunately, the property was in a bit of disarray. It seems like some repairs/ upgrades are in process, and there were a lot of construction materials and a shop vac left out, and I found a few stray nails on the floor upstairs (with my bare feet!). It seems like the property owners must use the home quite a bit because many personal items are out. This wouldn’t in itself a problem, but the overall impression was not exactly tidy, clean and organized. We also found mouse droppings in the kitchen. Also, I had read other reviews and was prepared for the basement stairs to be steep and narrow, but they are not all set at the same distance to each other, and some are pitched at an angle. I’m no slouch- I hiked the Beehive and South Bubble trail on my trip- but those stairs are scary. Also, while there were beds for 10, we barely had enough pillows for the six of us. If those issues could be resolved, it would be a five star property!

Thank you for your review. Yes, construction has been completed and wasn’t fully cleaned up after. We have Been there since and have taken care of everything. The new decks, skylights and roofs are beautiful.
