About this property

Stunning 1BR Lakefront Dog Friendly - Hot Tub

Summary:

Take in a spectacular scene of evergreen mountains, sunlight filtering through the trees, and the deep teal waters of Lake Sutherland at this waterfront home on the edge of Olympic National Park.

This two-bedroom, lakefront home sits on the north shore of Lake Sutherland, a wonderful place to swim from the dock, launch the provided kayak, or fish for rainbow trout, coastal cutthroat trout, and kokanee all summer. The national park boundary is just across the lake while downtown Port Angeles is 14 miles east.

The Space:

Whether you're planning to hike, kayak, or fish, you'll find the perfect place to end each afternoon on the open, tree-lined deck. This stunning spot overlooking the lake is ideal for morning coffee with a view, afternoon barbecues on the gas grill, and evening soaks in the private hot tub. A firepit just off the deck provides a cozy spot for s'mores and stories at night.

The house is full of Pacific Northwest charm, offering wood-paneled walls and ceilings, windows that frame the lake, and a pellet stove to curl up to in the evenings. The upper, main level includes a sitting area with a TV and DVD player, an open kitchen with every essential, and two bistro dining tables to choose from. The two bedrooms are split between the two floors, with the lower-level primary bedroom offering a desk workspace and glass doors that open to a second shaded deck and hot tub.

The property was neat and clean and had a beautiful view from the deck. The parking and exiting was a bit challenging due to a very steep hill. I thought there was a washer/dryer offered, but a note said it was not for the use of tenants, so that was disappointing. Other than that, the home was well kept and comfortable. A nice restaurant, Granny's Cafe, is nearby and was excellent.

The views were beautiful. The noise from highway 101 was horrific. The chairs on the deck were incredibly uncomfortable. I would not stay there again.

We had a wonderful week staying at this cabin on lake Sutherland. The deck, hot tub, dock, kayak’s, and pellet stove all helped us enjoy our time here. The cabin is a little rough around the edges, but it didn’t prevent us from enjoying our stay.

Great lake side house

The location is amazing and the views from the patio deck are out of this world.

Lake stay with school age kids

The inside of the house is fine if you’re okay with a more rustic stay. The doc and lake are amazing! The kayaks are in great shape and are a nice bonus to have access to. The cabin was lacking basic amenities for the price point and the outside areas were junky and run down. The description of the steep hillside is slightly inaccurate, there are rusty pipes sticking out along the route that are tripping hazards for young kids.
Response from VrboOwner on 28 June 2026
Thank you for sharing your feedback and rating. We’re glad you enjoyed the dock, lake, and kayaks, and we appreciate your comments about the rustic style of the cabin. We’re sorry to hear about the concerns with amenities, the outdoor areas, and the hillside path. We will inform the owner of your suggestions and see if he would like to upgrade the pots and pans as well as the outdoor furniture. Your note about the tripping hazards is especially helpful, and we’ll make sure this is addressed for safety.

Overall, not worth the price you pay. There needs to be some serious updates to this house to justify the price you pay. The dishwasher is broken, you cannot use the washer or dryer, the house smells a bit off, and the lightbulbs flicker. Fixing some small things throughout could really male this place standout but it seems like the owners don't want to make any investment in this property. A shame too since its on a great part of the lake with stunning views.

We loved our stay at the Eagle's Nest! Just right for family of four adults. After several days of hectic travel it was the perfect spot for rest and relaxation. We enjoyed using all the amenities: hot tub, grill, kayaks and fishing rods! Items of note for future travelers; 1) Google maps may take you to a close but wrong location (we missed our turn off by 50 feet) - confirm final directions with rental company. The good news was we were able to connect immediately with rental company to get precise final destination directions. 2) the pathway down to the dock is rugged as advertised and you need to be hands free for balance on descent/ascent so put any items in a backpack/ruck sack when going to and from dock. 3) the dishwasher was not working as advertised when we were there but who cares with only 4 people! we enjoyed cleaning up together! 4) only the clothes dryer is for use by travelers so don't plan on getting your travel laundry caught up on at this location. A good time was had by all and we agreed this is a return destination for our family!

Really the only good thing about this place was the view and location to the park (which hurricane ridge was closed) :( . Hot tub was ok but it was on the bottom deck so view was obstructed. House was not very great. No furniture to sit on decks to enjoy the view. No kitchen amenities like spices or salt. No washer/dryer which is needed for the area. The TV or DVD player never worked the whole time so no TV. The path down to the lake was not clear and very steep. We had a hard time finding the property. Little contact from the owners just in the beginning booking.

Incredible views ...but property needs some TLCUpon arrival, we immediately noticed the cabin has breathtaking views of the lake from both top and bottom decks. The lake is probably one of the best we've seen, Lake Crescent is close by, but Lake Sutherland is smaller and more intimate. There's a long steep windy path down to the dock. Was able to get in a nice 20 mile bike ride to Crescent Lake and back. My son also caught his first Rainbow Trout off the dock, then caught two more ... :) Two kayaks are available for use, but we opted to fish off the dock the whole time we were there. Would have been nice if they offered the 15-20’ Bayliner stored on the dock as a rental option! The cabin is very clean and spacious, and the hot tub is well-maintained. There is good WiFi signal throughout the property. We’ve stayed at a number of other Vacasa managed properties, but this one needs a more TLC. To be fair, they’ve addressed previous feedback: added a few more chairs to the deck, added more folding chairs for the fire pit and the dock, the pots and pans are ok, dinnerware and silverware, plenty of towels, and most of the outlets work. The deck chairs need a good power wash though. It rained two of the three days we stayed, so not having a smart tv to access our favorite streaming channels was a bummer. The dishwasher has not worked in over a year despite multiple customer complaints, no welcome book with all the details about the house to include WiFi, tv instructions, etc.

We really enjoyed our stay - particularly the view of the lake, hanging out on the dock and taking the kayaks out on the lake. The cabin was also very clean upon our arrival. The only issue we experienced was weak water pressure, but this may just be a nuance with "cabin-living".

The value in this property is in the view alone. I was fine with not having a dishwasher and smart TV as the listing laid out. What I was not fine with was: • Having 3 out of 4 folding chairs for the fire pit broken and/or rotting and unsafe for use - my husband (180lbs, not large) fell right through one. (It costs like 15 for a folding chair - c'mon)• None of the knives in the kitchen were sharp enough to even cut a tomato nor were there utensils to sharpen them. Thank goodness our friend had a pocket knife on hand. • The grills gas burners are completely crumbling on the inside and looked like a fire hazard.• Want toast with your breakfast? Too bad, toaster doesn't work.• No access to a washer/dryer for clothes.• The ladder on the deck came loose and almost off when my husbands 130lb friend tried to climb it.We paid 2.6k for 4 nights. I can only imagine this house with this location is bringing in 10k a month easily. We are fine with roughing it generally but for that price felt like it was a slap in the face. I reached out to the owners about the chairs once we discovered they were broken and my husband fell through one of the "good" ones and never got a message back. The lack of care is felt here. The owners know they have a nice location and feel they don't need to provide much else.

All the information was not included in the listing, such as all the steep stairs that led down to the beachfront... There were pipes protruding out of the steps it was extremely unsafe... the amenities were awful... They gave us one roll of toilet paper for 2 people for 5 days... You could not use the washing machine, but they only will give you 4 towels. The love seat in the supposed living room was barely big enough for 1person to sit on let alone 2. So there is no smart TV, they do, however, supply a DVD player, but the remote didn't work say I see you couldn't watch any dvds... The first time I got in a hot tub, there was so much chloride in it that it was literally burning our eyes. There were also ants on the kitchen counter, which made it so I didn't even want to have any food out at all... You can also not use the dishwasher, for reasons unknown. I can't even believe I slept there 3 nights.. We left a day early and didn't even say anything... Do yourselves a favor...and DO NOT rent this place

A wonderful escape on Lake Sutherland

This cabin on Lake Sutherland was a perfect hideaway for our family vacation! With beautiful views of the lake on both decks and a deck with kayaks, we truly loved this lake house oasis! It’s location is ideal for Lake Crescent, ferries to BC from Port Angeles, and other destinations in Olympic National Park like the Hoh rain forest, Rialto beach and Ruby beach.
