Liked: Check-in, location
The cottage had ample space and appropriate equipment. The bed was comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and modern. The steep stairs were 19 in number, straight up, with narrow steps which represent a potential danger for older renters especially if bringing full size luggage. In the living room area, the couches for watching the TV are worn and offer a level of support only healthy teens would find comfortable. The room also contains a pool table with a ripped felt, which should be discarded and replaced with a couple of comfortable chairs along with side tables and lamps for those who enjoy reading. Although the first floor has a fair number of modern windows and sliding doors to let light in, it feels very dark, even at mid-day with the sun shining.
The accommodations were exactly what one might expect when staying in a house out on a lake, hardwood floors, and ceilings, old rustic, and feel even the boardgames and the toys in the children’s room were nostalgic kind of like staying at grandma’s house
This is the perfect Adirondack camp, right next to a lovely lake, and lots of hikes. Robin’s nest was very clean, cozy and even better than the pictures. Lots of space, Well supplied kitchen and beautiful property. Hoping to come back soon!

Thank you for your kind words, hope you can visit again!
Very clean & had everything needed. Great location & probably will rent again next year. Enjoyed the pool table also. Due to the rain all week limited our outdoor activities: golf, swim etc. Bars & restaurants were very good!
Robin's Nest was a perfect house & location for our family vacation. My young grandchildren loved it. Big back yard, firepit, close to the beach, concerts & very friendly. The house was great, roomy & had everything we needed. It has a nice community feel yet private & quiet. We had a great time.

Thank you for taking the time to say some kind words. We appreciate you and welcome you back any day!
This was our second stay at the Robins Nest which should tell you everything you need to know about the property. Well kept with all the modern conveniences but still a rustic feel. There's no cell service but that is true throughout Caroga Lake. Very good internet at the property though and there is a landline if you need to make a call. We'll look to stay again on our next trip to the area.

A lovely place!
My family and I had a great time at Robin's nest in January. It is very remote, next to a lake (people were ice fishing on it!!) and far away from the city bustle. The house was very clean, comfortable, well decorated and just generally fun. We had a lovely time and will try to come back. One minor downside, the food sources are not what you'd expect if coming from a big town, so plan accordingly.

Thank you for your kind words, Yelena, I hope you visit again!
There are large supermarkets (Price Chopper, Hannaford and Super Walmart) in Gloversville/Johnstown as well as a really nice co-op in Gloversville however it is not super convenient to Caroga Lake once you're there so definitely a good idea to shop prior!
You are welcome any day!

When can we come back to this lovely house?
Our family had an awesome time at lake Caroga! This house is simply stunning and had everything you could ever need. We enjoyed our family sit downs so much every evening. The children loves the bunk and trundle beds upstairs and the bathrooms were luxurious and comfortable. The lake is just a block away and we took many evening strolls through the friendly neighborhood. We cannot wait to come

Lovely vacation experience!
I brought my husband, 19 year old son and my in-laws to this house for a short vacation and we had a wonderful time! The first floor bedroom was perfect for my elderly in-laws, and the nearby beach is sandy and you can walk into the lake - not jumping off a pier! The house is up to date and comfortable with really traditional touches and we just really enjoyed it. Loved the lake! The three of us rented kayaks and had a great time paddling the lake. Overall a terrific vacation. I hope tomgo back someday!
Robin’s Nest was the perfect spot to catch up with family at Caroga Lake. We were able to have the whole family over for dinner and a BBQ in the beautifully landscaped backyard. We made good use of the pool table on our one rainy night. It was a wonderful surprise to find 5 bicycles and 3 stand-up paddle boards. The distance to the beach was fantastic. We were able to go back and forth easily. We will definitely stay again in the future!
The photos and description in the listing are very accurate. Very roomy property with all the modern amenities one would want (microwave, coffee-maker, wine fridge etc.). Large private backyard with a gas grill and plenty of seating around the fire pit. Good cable TV system with good wi-fi. Only downside was the area has absolutely no cell phone service. Not a fault of the property, just the area itself. Would highly recommend.
This is our second time in Robin's nest. WE love the place, the house, the area, the people. Everything. So it was a little disappointing when we saw that the floors and carpets were absolutely filthy. It wasn't enough to ruin the stay. We had a good time and will be coming back, hopefully. But next time, we hope for a cleaner house.
Caroga Lake is very peaceful and quiet. The kitchen at Robin's Nest is well stocked with appliances and utensils except for a working microwave. The chairs and seats are comfortable and the yard is a nice place to relax with chairs and picnic tables.
The house comes with descriptions of local hikes, which is very helpful, since our hiking book of the Adirondack Mountains contained only one of the local hikes that came with Robin's Nest. We did not see the interesting books under the coffee table until the last day. The books included a local history book and a plant identification book.
Robin's Nest is a short walk from the lakeshore and from the Caroga Lake Music Festival at Sherman Park. This was an enjoyable experience listening to an hour of excellent music.
Bringing your own linens and bath towels was a minor inconvenience.

Very nice lake community home
We had a very good time at this property. The house was beautiful, beds comfortable. I loved the mix of rustic and modern furnishings and decorations. The renovations they have done came out wonderful, the stairs are solid, not a creaky floor in the place. They provide a binder with lots of good local information, even directions to a local spring for getting spring water. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook meals. I did not miss the microwave at all. I hardly ever use one anyway. We did not use the room with the twin beds in it, but we did look in that room and saw a very nice set up for children if we had brought any. The room was bright, with a nice assortment of toys for various age levels. The recycling information was a little confusing, so we ended up taking the questionable things with us to dispose of at home. You can hear traffic on 29A from the house. Fortunately, that's not a busy road. The little beach nearby was nice. Very shallow for a long ways, a good place to bring kids. I would give a tip for future renters and for Aimee Hart. The directions given were good up to a point, but.... Sherman's is not well marked and we had no idea that it was an abandoned amusement park. So we had a little bit of a time finding the right road to turn on. After we got there, we figured out a more direct way. It may be easier for people to take a left on Grove across from the post office, then left onto Forest. And that is what my GPS had been saying all along. More info for future renters: We ate at the 19th Hole restaurant nearby. The food was OK and we were hungry, but I would probably not go again. The service was good although slow, but that is because they only had a couple of waitresses and a lot of customers. We did our shopping in Gloversville. That town has the closest grocery store and wine/liquor store as far as I could tell. There are smaller stores for quick items that are closer.

Thank you Cindy for your thoughtful review! Hope you can visit again some day :)
Great time at a great place. Being from Florida we were not used to the cold and rainy weekend but still found ways to enjoy the day! And climbing the stairs kept us in shape. See you next year !!
