Living room and dining room have lofted ceilings and big windows overlooking the Deerfield River. Full kitchen, laundry, and 2.5 bathrooms. Radiant heating keeps the house wonderfully warm in the winter, and the breezeway is the perfect place to relax in the summer.
Two bedrooms are equipped with AC.
It's a quiet, family house and we are looking for quiet, respectful guests. No parties please.
Situated in between Shelburne Falls and Charlemont, on the historic Mohawk Trail, this house is ideally located near quaint New England towns, activities for all seasons (Berkshire East Ski Resort, Zoar Outdoor Whitewater Rafting, and miles of beautiful trails in the woods all within 15 minutes of the house). Plenty of delicious dining options nearby.
The house was built in 2003, and the lumber was milled at the Hall Tavern Farm--which is just down the road from the house! The construction is entirely mortice and tenon (no nails!) and has spectacular woodworking features.

This was our second year staying at the house. The house has a well stocked kitchen for cooking family meals and the views are just beautiful!

Great home for a memorable trip
This is a beautiful house across from a river. Close to several towns and perfect for what we needed..Everything we needed was there with plenty of clean towels, dishes and places for everyone to relax. We loved the breezeway.
Our family loved being at the house and in the Shelburne Falls/Charlemont area. The owners and property manager were very responsive to any needs, and the house is just lovely!

My family and I have stayed there and had a wonderful experience. The home is very comfortable and located in a perfect serene area. It is a wonderful place to relax and connect with nature...We will definitely go back.
We enjoyed being able to open windows and the setting was relaxing. We saw a rafter of 8 turkeys and several deer.
Perfect weather and the "swimming hole," mentioned in the check in/out information is a must do!
We had planned to use the house as a base and spend most of our time exploring the area. The weather did not cooperate but the house was a perfect place to hang out while we waited for the rain to pass. A real gem!
Loved everything about this rental, the owners communication was great, as was the caretakers. Perfect location feeling secluded with a gorgeous view while only minutes from a cute downtown as well as numerous hiking trails, the river, and even a great playground for the kids. House is in spectacular shape, clean, comfortable, open, with comfy beds.
My cousin, Sarah's dad built this house so I know it well. I came with 2 of my grandchildren to explore family history, and the trip was a great success.
I was sorry to miss seeing Sarah though.
Vast 3-story high ceiling in main living/dining area. Third floor loft was way way up! (We couldn't figure out how to turn out the light up there...) Kitchen was well stocked. The library wall had a wonderfully eclectic selection of books. Bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. We didn't spend much time in the house because we were visiting family in the area, but it was very nice. Only drawback: the circular staircase to the second level was very narrow and quite steep (13 steps per floor, rather than the usual 14). A person with mobility problems would have a very hard time going up and down.

Choose This One
We rented the home for a college graduation weekend with extended family. The home was gorgeous, clean and well equipped. The guys "chipped" around the yard, the girls took long walks in the surrounding woods. The kitchen accomodations were great for our breakfasts and lunches. There is ample parking and as others have mentioned, the views are terrific. We spent time in nearby Shelburne Falls and enjoyed ziplining at Berkshire East Resort. There are a few minor considerations, the home is noisy with the open loft and wood construction, the circular staircase could be tricky for some and there is only one real shower on the lower level. But those things were very minor in comparison to the amazing home. Lisa was so easy to work with too. I wouldn't hesitate to rent this one!

Thank you very much for your review, and for all the helpful tips and advice! I will try to be more clear with future guests about the staircase, the open loft (noise does carry up there), and the shower. I'm so glad you all took advantage of the area, and that you enjoyed your stay. We hope to have you back again another time!

A wonderful, restful vacation!!
The photos from the listing did not do the property justice. This is a beautiful home on a beautiful piece of land. More than once this week, we saw the deer bounding across the fields. The house is spacious, very clean and well-maintained. Downtown Shelburne Falls (not even ten minutes away) was our connection to civilization, finding coffee at Mocha Maya's, fresh produce at the market and delicious home made creme puffs at a new little shop called Lindsay's next to the Glacial Potholes site. The Flower Bridge is beautiful!
The kids enjoyed swimming at "Sunburn Beach" (not necessarily an official name), swimming and tubing at Shun Pike Park, fudge from Mo's Fudge Factor in Shelburne Falls.
We spent a day out toward North Adams visiting landmarks such as the Natural Bridge. A word of advice; don't try to drive down to Tannery Falls from within Savoy State Park. There is an entrance in from the east that looks much more promising!
We had few questions during our stay and the owner was prompt in responding.
We would refer this property to others and hope to return.

Over priced - 3 weeks ago we stayed down the street with same amenities for 1/2 the price. Needless to say that place is booked regularly.
What a wonderful home. The owners built this home for their family, and the thoughtfulness shows. There are cubbies next to the king size (thermapedic!) bed downstairs, for your glasses & water & phone & eye mask & book. There are bars in a few places (we called them “Grandpa’s bars” although we actually had no idea who they were for), and my wife was very grateful for the one next to the bed. The kitchen is well supplied. The bookcase is stocked with an amazing variety of books, including not only Goodnight Moon but also the 1911 Massachusetts State Documents for Charities & almshouses, which I might just scan in full when we return! It was a great place to stay with our adult son & his partner, who used the upstairs king bedroom. The third bedroom with 4 twin beds would be a dream room for a group of young cousins. My only warning is that you can only have 2 people who can’t do the spiral staircase. That was my wife & me, and we slept on the main floor. But our son was fine with the spiral staircase, and kids would be happy too!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house is roomy and airy, minutes away from Shelburne Falls, Bridge of Flowers and the Trolley Museum. Not far from MassMoCA or the Clark too. Besides the rafting, kayaking, hiking and swimming, August is a good month for the various country fairs.
Thank you so much for letting us stay at your beautiful home! It was clean, spacious and had excellent amenities. The location was perfect for us since we enjoy being outdoors hiking, walking and viewing nature. We would love to come back another time.
The property is beautiful and the house is great. Even though the house is on Route 2, you would never know it. The view of the Deerfield River is awesome. The proximity to Shelburne Falls and Charlemont is great. We particularly loved Shelburne Falls.
The house is very comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped.
It was a great relaxing weekend in the Berkshires :-).
Our stay this weekend was great. It was close to activities and was very private. The house itself is gorgeous and the screened in porch with a grill was a nice bonus. Zoar Outdoor Adventure Park is a must see in the area. Our weekend was filled with zip lining and rafting. We will definitely visit again!
Well-maintained home with an excellent view. High-ceiling living space. We saw a doe, a wild turkey, and a buck on the property. Because the house is away from the road, the night sky with thousands of stars is highly visible.
Great stay at a roomy and fun house. Clean and comfy. Plenty of space to relax and unwind. Kitchen has everything you need and the bbq came in handy as well. House is close to local shops and sites. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to families looking for a local base to enjoy the region’s offerings.
It worked great for our group to enjoy a late summer sojourn in western ma

About the host
Hosted by Owner / Property Manager
My siblings and I share ownership of this house, which our parents built in 2003.
Why they chose this property
This house is cozy and bright, nestled away in the Berkshires, and surrounded by such wonderful scenery and people.
What makes this property unique
Radiant heating! Proximity to many different activities, and also to solitude and relaxation, depending on your mood. The house is new, so it has many modern amenities. But it feels rustic and traditional.
