MooseHaven Old Forge NY

MooseHaven Old Forge is the perfect Adirondack retreat for you and your family. Located one mile from the village of Old Forge, right across the street from the spectacular and scenic Moose River, the location and home features are ideal. Built in 2001, inside you will find 1,600 square feet of spacious, new living areas. Three bedrooms (all with log beds, blankets and pillows,) two baths, full kitchen with island, dining room and large living room overlooking the Moose, and wrap around porch will provide you and your family space to enjoy each other or solitude if desired. We prefer our guests bring their own bath towels and linens, although we do offer a linen service available for a $75 fee.

Outside you are minutes away from all the splendor that makes the Adirondacks a magical place. Every morning you can canoe or kayak the Moose; a beautiful, serene, quiet nature sanctuary where you can visit remote sandy beaches, look for loons, otter, woodpeckers, and blue herons. (3 kayaks are available for your use.) You can swim at the sandy beach on Old Forge Pond (w / lifeguard) in town or take a hike up to a remote beach on beautiful Nick's Lake. Walk or bike 1/2 mile to 2 trailheads and hundreds of miles of hiking trails in the Adirondack Park system, leading to places like Nick's, McKeever Lock and Dam, and the famous McCauley Mountain. Hiking Bald Mt. 5 miles away is a "must-do for all ages! Or, you may choose to relax and view the scenic Moose River from the front porch while enjoying a good book and cup of coffee.

You will enjoy the cottage, but the greatest feature of MooseHaven is its proximity to everything Adirondack. Enchanted Forest / Water Safari, swimming, great shopping, food, the Arts Center and a magnificent public golf course are less than two miles away. Within 30 minutes you can whitewater raft, climb Bald Mountain, go horseback riding, or tour one of the great Adirondack estates. In an instant you can disconnect from the everyday grind and escape into mountains, the river, or simply enjoy the wonderful village of Old Forge, and beyond. MooseHaven is a quiet, idyllic setting that you will want to return to for years to come.

SPRING AND FALL SPECIALS

Although summers are popular for week long vacations. Spring and Fall are perfect for week or long weekend getaways. Many locals claim May is their favorite month, offering unique opportunities to see the signs of new life, and in September and October, there are few better places in the country to experience the brilliant display of color than in the Adirondacks.

Fantastic camp

Stayed here with my 2 kids. We went hiking to the lock and dam, plus bald mountain. They bikes and kayaks on site were perfect, and moose river is right outside. Host was awesome. Would stay again!!!

We stayed here over Thanksgiving week with our five children, my husband, and my mother, and the home was perfect for our family. There was ample space for everyone, great seating, and a spacious kitchen with an island and plenty of room to cook and gather.We opted for the linen service add-on. The linens were provided but not placed on the beds. We arrived late and ended up having to make the beds ourselves—not a big issue, but something future guests may want to know for planning purposes. (To be fair, I didn’t ask for specifics ahead of time.)The house itself was clean, welcoming, and incredibly close to everything in Old Forge. We absolutely recommend staying here and would happily return in the future.

MooseHaven is in a great location with a view of Moose River. It's very clean and has all the comforts of home. The well stocked kitchen will even keep a gourmet cook happy. The futon beds under the bunk beds are a little difficult to sleep on (hard as a rock). So I suggest you bring a mattress topper for better comfort. The other beds a comfortable. I'm going back in the fall with family and look forward to it. Thank you Shawn for being so accommodating. Your camp home gets an A+ from me!

Lovely Stay in Old Forge

My family gathered here for a long weekend, and we very comfortably slept and entertained 8 people for 3 nights. The kitchen and general amenities were all fully functioning, allowing us to stay indoors during an unplanned rainy day, and still have plenty to do. We cooked full meals, enjoyed the provided board games and general family time, read books, watched a movie, napped when we felt like it.... It was precisely the kind of getaway we wanted. When the weather improved, we were able to enjoy the onsite kayaks and easy river access. There were several hiking trail heads nearby, which we did not use due to time. Old Forge town center was only a mile away, so grocery and supply shopping was a breeze. We very much enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning! My only comment is that had I not read the agreement closely, i would not have realised that i had to bring my own bedsheets. This was not difficult to do, but it wasn’t clear to me in the original listing. That minor complaint isn't enough to dimish our wonderful experience. Highly recommended, would book again.

Cozy Adirondack Camp

This was our second time staying at Moose Haven and it was wonderful! Close to Water Safari, shops, movie theater, and dining! Camp is on the Moose River. My favorite was sitting on the wrap around porch with my morning coffee!

We can’t say enough about this home! Warm, Comfortable and Spacious with easy access to town, walking trails, hiking, biking and kayaking!!! You can relax in style in the charming family room or walk outdoors to any number of adventures! Although there are lots of great eateries in walking distance, it’s nice to eat in too! The kitchen offered everything you could possibly need and more! The Communication with the owner was fantastic! We will definitely return! THANK YOU!!!

Great place to stay

This was a lovely home full of Adirondack charm. Large living room and kitchen and bedrooms provided plenty of space. It was decorated in wonderful Adirondack accents and was clean and comfortable. The kayaks that were available provided wonderful trips up or down the river to neat swimming holes and wildlife. We liked that we were close enough to town to walk or ride a bike but far enough away from the noise. The road that the house is on is a little busier than we thought it would be but really didn't cause any disruption to our stay. The owner was prompt in replies and very friendly to deal with. Thank you again Shawn for a lovely visit!

Why they chose this property

It is so close to everything, but still feels remote. You can grab coffee, take a quick kayak, and get back to read the paper on the front porch before the family is awake! Hiking, biking, skiing, golfing are all minutes away, but above all, relaxing away from the normal routine of life.
