About this property

Large modern house with huge open great room and four large bedrooms with baths

Blueberry lodge was built as a family vacation home suited to social gatherings. The lodge is 4200 square feet, with four large bedrooms with en suite full baths on the ground floor and a 2100 square foot open great room on the second floor.

Designed by renowned architect Piet Van Dijk, this modern lodge is designed to comfortably accommodate the needs of different family arrangements while providing a gracious and convivial social space.

The master suite contains a king sized bed, a kitchenette, dressers and large closets and a large bathroom with a double shower and vanity.

The second bedroom has a king that can be converted into two twins and a full bath with large shower.

The third bedroom has a queen sized bed, a full sized fold out futon and a full bath with shower and tub.

The fourth bedroom has a king that can also be converted into two twins, a queen sized murphy bed and a full bath with shower.

The entry hall is large and open with plenty of winter clothing storage and a couch. There is also a large separate laundry room on this floor.

The ground floor is heated with radiant 'in floor' heating which is very comfortable in the cold weather months.

The great room has a cathedral ceiling and a monitor that adds light and regulates heat in the summer. It comprises a large open kitchen, a formal living area, a dining area, a full bar, a gaming area, a billiards table that doubles as a ping pong table and a media viewing area with a 42" TV.

The lodge has DirecTV and high speed internet. There are also two wood burning stoves and a large exterior deck with a gas grill.

Renters will be able to use one bay of the separate three car garage.

Outside there is also a large slate tile patio under the deck, a wood storage shed and a covered entry way with a small patio.

There is a 'Boules' court and picnic table to one side of the house.

Finally, while Blueberry Lodge is deep in the mountains of southern Vermont on top of scenic Ames Hill, it is only twelve minutes from Interstate 91 in West Brattleboro Vermont so it is surprisingly convenient for visitors from the south.

The builder, Bill Glover, was a retired businessman who attended Yale right after world war two. His best high school friend is renowned architect Piet van Dijk. Piet and Bill have collaborated on all of Bill's houses since 1960 and Piet designed and Bill acted as general contractor for Blueberry Lodge.

Why they chose this property

Bill built the Lodge as a family gathering place. It is designed for easy access and accommodation for weary weekend travelers (bedrooms and storage downstairs) and communal dining and entertaining.

What makes this property unique

The house is unique due to its spectacular open plan great room. It is the ultimate family/friends gathering place with room for all sorts of vacation activities and past times, from quiet reading in the living area, to relaxing in front of an open fire to watching a movie on a large TV.
