Our host, Francesca, was AMAZING. She arranged for a taxi from Termini, for us. Then, when we arrived at the apartment, she had beer and a tasty snack for us to enjoy. Francesca carefully explained how to operate the washer (it also has a dryer), wifi and the other things about the space. In the past, I've been confused by the operation of European clothes washing machine - so her assistance was great.
The apartment was located on a piazza. So there was lots of activity going on in the square. There were kids playing, couples strolling, people dining, street performers entertaining . . .
One night, the celebration went on well past midnight. So if you are sensitive to noise, you might bring some ear plugs and a night mask. I was happy to have something to look are at almost anytime of the day. And was not bothered by the activity. Even watching the street cleaners scrambling around the plaza, in the morning was a hoot.
There are many nice restaurants within a five minute walk, coffee and gelato can be had right in the plaza. There is a supermarket about seven minutes walk away. The twisty roads surrounding the plaza enhance the European vibe.
The apartment was immaculate. It had everything we needed for a five night stay. It was like a second home. This apartment is not a cookie cutter hotel room. It has personality. There were warm hardwood floors, comfortable seating and plenty of storage. Some afternoons, we'd return from our Rome explorations -just to recharge for the evening. It felt comfortable. My wife would push her chair near the window, do needlepoint, and catch the action around the fountain. I may have taken a nap (according to my wife) but I don't remember it.
Lastly, after three weeks in Italy, I was craving some non-Italian food for a change. There is a small Mexican place, Pico's, about three minutes walk towards the river.
