The summer season brings activities like hiking and mountain biking, as well as kayaking, fishing, swimming, and golfing. Hike some of the numerous and beautiful nearby mountains, or bike the Kingdom Trails system in the Burke area. Kayak, fish, or swim in Lake Memphremagog, Crystal Lake, or Lake Willoughby. All are nearby. You can also fish the Black River from the back yard.
Not far away, Jay Peak Resort is home to an 18-hole championship golf course, in addition to an ice arena, tram rides, and as previously mentioned, an indoor waterpark.

Pleasant stay. Only mild complaint was that there were a ton of ladybugs (?asian lady beetles) in the house and particularly in one of the bedrooms upstairs. Comfortable otherwise.
We take my Dad to Vt every year around Fathers day for a fishing trip.....this location was one of our favorites. Huge house, all the amenities, couldn't have been happier. Highly recommended
We all have an incredible time in Vermont at this property. It was simply perfect. It was close to Jay Peak for skiing and restaurants for going out. The beds were all comfortable and plenty of living space for all of us to spread out.
We had a wonderful stay here! The propery is well maintained and spacious. We loved walking to the brook in the morning (the mist above the water with the reflection of the foliage was beautiful)- and there were many trails to investigate! The bedroom was cozy and the den was comfortable. Our dog Harlie loved the house- and the back yard- and the walks. Thanks for a great stay!
We went to play Newport CC and have a weekend with my two children and their spouses. We also had our 6 month old grandson. The house was set up perfectly as one bedroom had a smaller room connected to it. Perfect for the baby portable crib. The house is a very quick drive from Newport activities. Great weekend. Plenty of space in house.

About the host

Why they chose this property
The homestead was originally built by Daniel Bean in 1855, and then sold to his son George and wife Lodeska where they operated one of the largest dairy farms in Vermont at that time. The property stayed in the Bean family for more than a century until it was sold in 1965. In 2013, the property was repurchased back into the Bean family, six generations after it was built, and was fully restored over the course of the next two years.
