My spouse and I enjoyed our stay here. It was so convenient and so close to everything. It was so peaceful with a country setting. Studio was beautiful and felt like I was in my home. Hosts we're super nice.

We were very happy with the experience. The residence was very clean and included everything we needed. It is very close to “must see”tourist spots. It is located in a very quiet and private spot. We highly recommend this.
My husband was a vendor at the Santa Fe Renaissance Festival in mid September and we stayed here from Thursday night to Monday morning.
It was perfect. After being around people and activity all day it was nice to come back to a quiet and spacious place where we could cook our own meals.
The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed. It was clean and comfortable. The outdoor patio space was great too, as we had my son and his partner over for dinner.

quiet place, nice owners, good location, on the rustic side.
quiet place. nice owners, good location. On the rustic side. next time, will not bring pets. Was to hard with too many rules to enjoy day touring. Owner and staff were there every day doing something. not as private as I would have liked but was okay.

Leslie, thank you for staying with us at Cuarto de Sandoval. I am puzzled by your statement referring "too many rules to enjoy day touring." First of all, our pet policy is one dog only. I made an exception for you to bring your two small dogs because one is diabetic. You informed my daughter you had found a doggie day care you were going to leave your dogs at so you could in fact go touring. We left a doggie basket with poop bags, a towel and food/water dishes. You however, brought your own supplies and dog beds. You are the first guest to bring their own bed linens/quilt because you said your dogs get up on the bed and housekeeping changed out the linen to the ones you brought. My two housekeepers and I were there getting three other units ready for guests but we were not there daily - they only work 3 days/week. My daughter contacted you once by text to inquire if you needed anything. Our maintenance manager did come by because you requested a firmer mattress. My staff and I do not bother guests because we do respect your privacy. You mentioned that you were quite comfortable and loved the studio you were in and would be interested in renting for the summer. Upon check out you left a very nice note stating you enjoyed your stay. Past guests have all loved Cuarto de Sandoval and it shows by previous reviews. Needless to say, it was a pleasure meeting you and again, thank you for staying with us.

SFNM stay
A big concern was throughout my whole stay the place smelled like gas, mold or something. I had to keep both doors open. The nights were tough when I had to close the doors & the smell was bad. Spoke to Flora & she said they had just turned on the gas pilot. The second thing was when taking a shower the stopper would not go up or down so the water stayed in the tub and took hours for it to go down. Flora did say that a plumber had gone before my stay to take care of this problem yet the problem still existed while i was there. It would also help if the shower drape had a liner so that the cloth shower curtain did not get soaked. Flora did not seem to be concerned since the water did not get on the floor. It is a quiet area and a rustic place. I did read from the messages other people left they were happy that Flora and/or daughter reached out to them on their stay to see if all was good. I also would of liked that but was not. I only had contact with Flora as I was loading up my car to leave. Also, when staying at Flora's place make sure you follow all the notes given because you will be charged with various things like unpluging the TV satellite. I have used on many occasion rentals & never had to do get damage coverage. I wasn't given the option to do this or not. I needed a place I just accepted it. I also paid for the rental but not given the entry code until I signed a rental agreement. Never had to do this with any other rentals

Jennifer, thank you for your review of Cuarto de Sandoval. We can understand your disappointment with the smell from the pilot light and I assure you the local gas company checked the water heater prior to your visit. We were informed the smell was temporary and caused from the pilot light. Our maintenance person did check the tub and water was draining properly prior to your arrival. After your departure the stopper was replaced. To be accurate, we did visit briefly the day of your departure, and this is when you brought all these to my attention. In the pre arrival information sent to you and also posted in our Welcome Book and on the refrigerator, we take great care in reminding guests if there are any problems or if anything is needed to contact us immediately and the phone number is posted. Had you contacted us during your stay we certainly would have taken care of these issues. Also, my daughter did send you a text asking if everything was okay on the second day of your stay - you did not respond. When you contacted us prior to your stay you addressed the damage deposit, and it was explained to you as a small business we must have property damage protection to cover any unexpected incidentals. Thank you again for your visit and we wish you the best.
We loved the location. We were out of the hustle and bustle of downtown SantaFe, but 10 Or 15 minutes to everything. That includes the significant historical sites and numerous places to eat. We loved our stay in a large and comfortable room that was tastefully decorated with a homey welcoming way.
This studio met was a wonderful home while I was waiting for the closing of my own home. I stayed more than a month. I sipped coffee on the patio, worked using the internet most days, and enjoyed the Santa Fe sunsets. The host is most gracious and I now consider her a friend!
Cozy room, very big. Beautiful view of the mountains & stunning sunsets. Close to downtown Santa Fe.
5 stars!

Thank you Scott! We enjoyed having you and Barbara stay at Cuarto de Sandoval especially as you celebrated your anniversary. It is so gratifying to know you enjoyed your stay and the studio felt cozy. That is surely something we strive for, that our guests do feel right at home and cozy during their stay! We certainly hope you return to visit us again - and soon!
Had a wonderful time in Santa Fe with a country retreat to rest up in after a bustling day in town! The lockable industrial screen doors allowed for the option of sleeping with a cool breeze or we could shut the doors and go for air conditioning. We had to do one night with the natural air because one shouldn’t always use go for the perfect temperature.

Thank you Ed! We agree, having the option of the security screen doors is wonderful for sleeping with the natural cool breeze but on those nights when it is warmer our guests also have the option of refrigerated air. We do hope you travel our way again and glad you had a wonderful time here in Santa Fe!

A lovely place!
I stayed for one month with my little dog, Lulu. Our accomadations had every thing we needed. the staff checked with us frequently to see if we needed additional supplies. They were very respectful of my privacy and called ahead. The view of the sun going down behind the mountain each evening was beautiful. It was a quiet and peaceful retreat. I would recommend it to my friends! 5 stars! A nice homey feeling; a family run retreat!

Hacienda Leyba #4
My wife and took a four night trip to Santa Fe as first time snow skiers. The studio we rented was absolutely perfect for our stay. Comfortable bed, plush towels, comfortable furniture, etc, etc. Very private, no noise, great views. We were able to park just a few steps from the door. Owner Flora and her daughter Wanette were both very nice and easy to communicate with. If we ever make back to Santa Fe, this is where we would want to stay.

Perfect spot in Santa Fe
Flora and Wanette's studio was perfect for my extended stay. It has a beautiful view and it's 10-15 min from the plaza. It's a good size studio with all amenities. If I ever visit Santa Fe again this is where I'll stay.

Kayla, we miss you! Thank you for choosing to stay at Cuarto de Sandoval for your extended stay. Between working and studying it was good knowing you were very comfortable in your home away from home. We agree it's the perfect place for short or extended stays and hope you will return with your family for a vacation in the future.

Great stay with one tiny blip
Lovely setting on the outskirts of Santa Fe. My wife and I were thoroughly delighted with the accommodations and with Flora, who owns and runs the hacienda and gave us a tour of the other units. We wanted to be as far away from the city as possible, so we chose this location. However, that's where the blip comes in. When we arrived, we saw that a retaining wall was being constructed right in front of our unit - bags of cement, piles of cinder block and such - and the next day, construction workers starting working on it. We didn't know this going in and didn't anticipate construction just outside the unit. It may have changed our decision as to renting that particular unit. Otherwise, no issues.

It was indeed a pleasure to host Don & Rebecca, such a lovely happy couple. Check-in time is 3:00 pm; however, you unexpectedly arrived very early in the morning due to your long trip which was fine with me. I was able to also give them a tour of the other three units at the Hacienda complex and get better acquainted. While we walked through the property, there was never any mention to me of any issues with the retaining wall construction. My daughter emailed you a couple of times during your stay to inquire how things were or if anything was needed and again, you indicated everything was fine. Had you mentioned at any time any issues with the retaining wall construction, I would have immediately resolved it by either moving you to another unit or giving you a discount. We want to ensure the serenity and comfort of our guests during their stay at Hacienda de Leyba and we certainly hope you will return in the future.

Peaceful Spot
On morning I saw quail walking outside my front door. It was quiet and peaceful, and yet so easy to get to the center part of town. Great kitchen which I used extensively as I am on a special diet. All sort of dishes and pots and pans available for use. Bed is comfy, and the digs are comfy, too.

Perfect stay for Santa Fe Explorers
We had a perfect stay at Hacienda Leyba in the Sandoval Studio. Our hosts were kind, helpful and informative. They checked in with us regularly throughout our 4 night stay and were quick to answer any questions about our studio, Santa Fe and local New Mexican culture. We loved being on the edge of town with an amazing sunset view, quiet nights and the fresh mountain air. The studio itself was perfect for the two of us with a full kitchen, lots of natural light and a patio to enjoy Santa Fe evenings. We also loved the experience of staying in a Hacienda, a first for us. Thank you for making our first trip to New Mexico a so comfortable, welcoming and beautiful.

Just Perfect
The Studio was just perfect for the two of us. We liked being out of the hustle of town - nice and quiet with great view especially at sunset. Loved sitting on patio with a book enjoying the outdoors and that view. It is still close enough to town(about 5 minutes). Flora welcomed us and showed us around and even called us once while we were there to make sure we had everything we needed. Everything was really clean and neat with Flora's added homey touches and lots of light from the big windows.
The studio was quite spacious and even though the bathroom was a little small it was just fine with places to put all our toiletries. Plenty of water pressure and towels were so fluffy.
It had a big closet to put all our extra things (suitcases, cooler and bins we brought food in) as well as lots of clothes space. Kitchen was well equipped with all we needed. We ate in 3 out of the 5 nights and several lunches since we were so close to town. We will definitely consider staying here again when we can get back to Santa Fe. Thanks again Flora.

About the host
Hosted by Flora Leyba
Both my husband and I were born and raised here in New Mexico. We are in our mid 80's with 2 married children. We have 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. We love to travel and have been blessed to see many beautiful parts of the world. There is still no place lovelier than Santa Fe and we hope to share our love of Santa Fe and its surrounding area with our guests.
Why they chose this property
Growing up in northern New Mexico we are accustomed to haciendas (several dwellings under one roof) where families lived near each other. The hacienda is set up with four separate units under one roof. This is the smaller studio apartment unit.
What makes this property unique
The views from the property of all the surrounding mountains are superb! Spectacular sunrises over the Sangre de Cristo mountains to colorful sunsets over the Jemez Mountains. Just outside the city limits but close enough to drive to either the Santa Fe Plaza, Santa Fe Opera, Santa Fe Ski area and easy access to Albuquerque.
