About this property

Stunning converted barn set in 80 acres of glorious English countryside

The Stables, is set in 80 acres of glorious English countryside, one mile east of Ashdown Forest in the High Weald area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This part of Sussex is perfect for visiting Brighton and the South Coast as well as Kent. This area is perfect for visiting gardens, farms and country houses. Within the surrounding area there are lots of lovely little villages and fantastic pubs and restaurants.London is also easily accessible by train from the local station.
Originally a Victorian farm, the Stables nestle beside a Sussex barn giving it a sheltered and secluded setting. The pretty country garden looks out across the wildflower meadows, where we often have sheep grazing. With our beautiful private woods beyond, which is all accessible to our visitors. The interior has been restored with many original features including stable doors, beams and a vaulted living room and all twenty first century comforts.
The stables has central heating and a lovely log burning fire for cosy evenings in.We are committed to promoting local sustainable tourism and the property is a Green Tourism Gold Award holder and accredited as Walkers and Cyclist welcome. Solar panels have been installed and logs provided are from our woods. The Stables are delightfully rural and yet close to amenities. We are easily accessible by public transport and a regular bus service passes the door. At the Stables you can enjoy walking from your doorstep through the woods to the local pub, tearoom or onto Ashdown Forest, looking out for deer, badgers birds and wildflowers on your way. This conversion offers a superb getaway, for everyone, in a truly unspoilt location.
We have our own on site bakery , we make organic sough dough and pastries . These can be pre ordered to be delivered while you are staying in The Stables.
This is a perfect place to stay all year round , with so much to do both here and in the local area. We ask for a min stay of 3 night but in July and August we ask for 7 night bookings.

The Stables
The Stables are very lovely. It seems a bit remote but the next supermarket is only 10 minutes drive away. Also if you go to Tunbridge Wells you can take a train to London. The house is in a good condition but in my opinion it needs some isolation. Like there are visible gaps at the windows. Everything else is just fine. There are boardgames and toys for the children in the garden. The kitchen is fully equipped and Lucy helps a lot with everything else what is needed.

Wonderful stay
Really enjoyed our stay. We had a very warm welcome and the property is really lovely and cozy. It was super clean and had everything we needed. The beds were also very comfortable so slept like a log. The baked goods we could get from their micro bakery were delicious. The gardens were very nice and enjoyed the walk in the woods. It definitely is a very zen like place. Wouldn't hesitate in staying there again.
