Great family beach house

Nice and Quiet

Beautiful neighborhood close to beach and restaurants. House was very nice, and was perfect for our family during graduation for our son at the Coast Guard Training Center. Look forward to staying again for a vacation!

Spring Weekend Getaway

House was perfect for our family of 10. Decks and decks great for morning coffee and afternoon drinks. Location is great, 2 blocks to the beach, quiet and easy walk to shopping and restaurants.

Cape May Stay

Excellent experience! House is a great location and we rented a golf cart which made seeing all of Cape May very easy and fun! Owners were very nice and the entire process went seamlessly.

Sisters get away!

I've been visiting CM for several years and always telling my sisters they needed to come with me. Now that 3 of them have retired, we finally got to go!! And it never disappoints! House was perfect both with size and location!

Great house and Bart is fantastic to work with

This is the second year that we rented this house. The location is ideal, close enough to walk comfortably to the beach yet far enough away to enjoy the peacefulness of Cape May. The house is very comfortable, with the screened front porch great for morning coffee and the large back deck great for family dinners. It is always clean on arrival and Bart maintains the house throughout the year. My family has been vacationing in CM for almost 25 years and this house is one of the best we have ever rented. I recommend it.

Great house and location

Overall a great stay. Nice size rooms. Smaller kitchen. Good size back yard. Grill would be better if it were propane and not charcoal. Very clean overall just a recommendation to change the shower curtain liners more often. I would definitely bring my family of 10 to stay there again.

Thanks for the feedback. I immediately had the liners changed based on your feedback. On the grill, I intentionally provide a large charcoal grill because not everyone knows how to use propane grills safely - I know someone who went through many surgeries after a bad accident with a propane grill, so I just don't want to take any chances on safety of guests. (I replace the smoke and Co2 detector batteries annually, and just replaced all of the detectors with new ones to be on the safe side.) I do upgrades every year - all new LED TVs last year, and upgraded all of the kitchen appliances this year. So the grill is simply a safety thing. Glad you had a nice time and enjoyed our convenient, yet quiet location in Cape May!

Great Vacation Spot!

We rented the Cottage on Maryland for our family of 4 plus all my in-laws. It was very comfortable for 10 people and it was an easy walk for our two young children to the beach. Big bonus! We had a wonderful time and plan to stay there again as soon as we can. Thank you to Bart and his family for giving us the opportunity to enjoy a great vacation!

Glad you enjoyed your vacation at our house! For 2015, we replaced the kitchen appliances with all new stainless steel ones, upgraded the cabinets, painted all the bedrooms. Location location location, and more

Our vacation was great. We love the house. Location could not possibly be more ideal. Just the right distance from the beach--perfectly walkable, but away from the crowds needing to find parking. And we walked to the Seafood Festival at the boardwalk--no need for remote parking with a shuttle bus. The beach wagon and umbrella are perfect. We were pleased to see six beach tags on the counter instead of four. The furnishings and appointments are all crisp and fresh, bathrooms and kitchen new, everything in tasteful seaside decor. The screened porch is a refreshing sitting space any time of day. Our wi-fi users were all happy with excellent reception, and our city kids loved running around in the grassy shaded yard. And I appreciated the eye-appealing landscaping. The house shows the amount of care and attention it has received.

This is our beach rental every summer. It has become a tradition. Landlord is wonderful, and updates the property every year. Location is quiet and convenient. We love it!

Great Place to Stay

We love the cottage on Maryland Ave. Our family of four, plus two sets of grandparents, have stayed here several times. The place is cozy, clean, conveniently located, and very comfortable. The short walk to the beach is just right and the quiet neighborhood is ultra relaxing - especially with the windows open at night hearing the waves in the background. The house has everything we need for a summer get away in a beautiful town.

great place to stay

We were so glad we picked this house. It is exactly how it is described and the owner was very nice to deal with. If anything it was better than he said. He was up-front with all the plusses and minuses and very organized. The house was clean when we arrived and extremely well taken care of. What a pleasant experience compared to some other rentals we've gone to! We had 9 people including an infant and I'd say that is the right amount of people for this house. More than that and it would get crowded. The location was awesome in that it was an easy walk down to the beach and to boardwalk and town yet not crowded on that street. My husband and I hope to go back this Fal and rent just a weekend for a getaway, we like it so much.

I have vacationed at this house since I was a kid in the 60s. It was very different then - a 3 bedroom cottage my Grandparents owned. As a kid I would help them with repairs and rentals. Since then, I have completely renovated the first floor and built up with the 2nd floor.

Why they chose this property

We do a lot of work each year to keep it very well maintained, which is somewhat unusual for beach rentals and even hotels at the shore.

The house has a 'shore cottage' feel. It was a one-floor cottage until 2004 when we renovated it and added the 2nd floor. We intentionally kept the 1st floor true to the original cottage feel, except we updated it. And mid Aug thru Fall you can get the 4th bedroom with its own bathroom upstairs, facing the back yard. Therefore it is cozy, not massive.

What makes this property unique

I like to make sure people get what they expect when renting so here's a few thoughts:

This house is right for you if.... you value great location on a relatively quiet residential street, a short walk to the beach, close to town and boardwalk, easy street parking, big yard, screened porch + 2 decks out back, very well-maintained home with modest size rooms. Think of it with the analogy of 'a very well maintained Honda Accord' good value, dependable, upper-middle level. There's enough beds and rooms for the stated amount of people allowed - in bedrooms - not on the floor or on cots like some places.

This house is not right for you if....
- If you value tons of floor space for sleeping people on the floor and a place for a big party weekend, this probably isn't the best place for you.
- If you want a classic worn, older rental that you don't have to take care of, this isn't for you.
- If you want a huge McMansion with a 'Great Room and nothing but stainless steel Bosch appliances, granite tops, and daily maid service, this isn't for you. I reccomend The Southern Mansion B&B or a $10k rental.

The usual people that rent this home in the summer are 1-2 families, 8 or 9 people; often it is a family and Grandparents/In-Laws.
