Annmarie was an excellent hostess, the cottage was quaint and had everything you needed. Their was a problem with the stove and Annmarie replaced it right away. Beautiful spot with a wrap around porch with lake views.

This property was a great find. Although small it has a rustic charm. Originally I was a little bit put off by a poor review but found that entire review to have been totally off base. The cottage was clean, the property great (only about 20 ft from the water), and the owner delightful. We would absolutely rent this property again!
So rare to find a lake house with a decent yard! Enjoyed the dock and boats and fishing was great for most ... The loft is a climb but the house lacks nothing. Great week vacation.
Loved the access to the boat, beautiful view great location. Bed in loft very comfortable but my dog needed company in living room. Sofa bed not that great but ok. Bathroom bathing a little tight in shower stall, other than that, I had a great time.

Sorry that the dow
nstairs sofa bed was a little uncomfotable. I had a new one ordered and it was delivered today..Glad to hear you had a great time.
Great little place ina great area. Sooo many things to do that you just have to figure out what your priorities are. Food, wine, cider, waterfalls , hiking, canoe, bird watching at the reserve, Food(I said it again so many nice restaurants like the Wheelhouse or Wolffy’s) or we stayed at ‘home’ and enjoyed the view . The upstairs is not for the challenged or large person. Tough ladder like stairs so we stayed downstairs but still had plenty of room. The deck upstairs can’t be missed though, THE VIEW!! As of no as the wind isn’t too bad. Fun to bbq and relax at the property or choose your own adventure. There is so much around you just have to decide. Really enjoyed the area and this place. Thanks to Ann Marie !

We had a wonderful time at the cottage.
Cute, clean, perfect mid-Finger Lakes location. Unbelievable sunsets! Only issue is stairs to bunk room. Pics don’t really give perspective of just how steep they are.

Thank you for your nice review of our lovely lake cottage. It was our pleasure to host you, and we are so glad that you had such a wonderful time during your stay. We apologize that you were surprised by the angle of the stairs that lead up to the loft bedroom, but happy that all turned out well and that you were able to negotiate them without any problems. We look forward to seeing you again.
It was very relaxing. The place was very clean and accurate described. Ann Marie was very nice and very helpful. She willingly shared her knowledge and her grapes and plums as well. The only disappointment was not being able to catch a salmon. One day I will. The place itself is all I expected from a cabin on a lake. And for us the stair climb wasn’t that difficult. Loved the use of the rowboat and canoe.i definitely would stay again. We enjoyed.
This was a good value for the price. I was looking to place to relax and unwind and that happened. The property is rustic. It is on a very fast moving road with trucks going by. Its not really safe to walk along the road. There is walking available a few minutes drive down the road in Cayuga at Harris Park. The host was helpful. The parking is very exact. Make sure you get specific instructions about where to park before you arrive. If you have trouble climbing a ladder, the top floor with a double bed will be very difficult to access.

We were looking for a simple home to enjoy the lake and outdoors and local Finger Lakes offerings. The home was clean and has everything you need including an outdoor grill and picnic table on the deck, a small dock and a row boat and canoe that we enjoyed, not to mention lake breezes and gorgeous sunsets. Our adult children had a blast with some of their friends on the water, having a bonfire and visiting local wineries. The home is near Aurora and Skaneatles for local shopping, antiquing and gorgeous views. We spent a lot of time at a park in Aurora which became my running route daily. It was a short drive away. Anne Marie is nearby to give tips and to ask questions like where is the closet Walmart. There is also a small grocery store, dollar store, gas station and laundry mat nearby in Union Springs. The house has interesting history if you appreciate things that are historic. It was fun to stay there with the knowledge of hundreds of years of history happening. We would definitely rent there again.

Won’t stay here again
Property manager lives next door. Was there when we arrived and proceeded to tell us about her problems with contractors and kept us for 20 minutes before we could go inside. We were first guest of season house not aired out. AC very bad. Only two burners on stove worked. Refrigerators were all rusty. Mouse feces in utility closet and on stove and bathroom sink. Sauce pans were rusty on inside. Chair cushions were very dirty and old. Dock access was blocked owner said to keep out geese. Owner showed up constantly and stayed. Wanted us to place weather stripping on door. Made sure we picked up dog poop everyday. Coffeemaker did not work as stated in ad. Shower was very small if your 6’ tall your touching the ceiling. Had to ask to have dead fish removed because they smelled. Found bugs in beds. Bath mat was moldyWon’t be staying there again

Misleading
The owners were very nice, however, the description is misleading. I asked specifically on the phone before we booked, since the house was located on the North East corner of the lake, if it was shallow, warm and was there seaweed. The owner said no. It was very warm, there was tons of seaweed and algae, the water was murky. We only went in a couple of times. Very disappointing. The house is on a busy truck route and the houses are very close. We had to keep the windows closed at night if the lights were on as hundreds of tiny bugs flew in through the screen towards any light. We enjoyed the area, but the house location was a disappointment for us.

My husband and I feel terrible to have received this review because it paints a misleading image of our wonderful lake cottage, and implies that we are dishonest. Our historic lake cottage has been a labor of love for us for over 20 years. We are very proud of our attention to detail in restoring the cottage, and believe that the setting is peaceful, natural, and pure. We have truly enjoyed offering it as a rental for many years so that others can share what we have come to see as a special place. In that time we have met many wonderful people, and have numerous perennial guests who come back year after year.
We always do our best to communicate accurately with all of our guests so that no details are overlooked before their arrival, and so we can make any special arrangements ahead of time. Indeed, we do not take online bookings because we want to ensure through phone conversations and email correspondence that our cottage is going to be the right fit for our prospective guests. We do our very best, but sometimes it is a challenge to address questions involving weather and nature because we are not in control of those forces. Anyone booking any lakeside rental should be aware that lakes can have some seaweed, some bugs are attracted to light, and water temperatures can fluctuate. That being said, this is the first time since we've been renting our cottage that we've been criticized for such things. Our guests are always pleased with our accommodations and our natural peaceful setting. We love the area, and our entire family has enjoyed this wonderful lakeside living for countless years.
Rest assured that there is no bug problem, and our widows are equipped with screens. Water is knee-deep at the shoreline and gradually gets deeper until it is well over one's head. Summer water temperatures typically fluctuate between 66-76 degrees Fahrenheit, (with long-term water temperature data recorded and tracked by Cornell University) . Some might say that it is a bit chilly, but what constitutes the perfect water temperature for swimming is quite subjective.
Please call and we will be happy to answer any of your questions accurately and honestly to make your stay enjoyable.
Sincerely,
Frank and Ann Marie Szaba
We had a lovely time at the cabin. Swimming in the lake was really great, especially during the really hot summer days. The sunsets are really beautiful on the lake.
There are many positives to this property, and a couple of negatives, at least with our lifestyle.
Positives include the owner (who lives in the house next door). What a delightful person to chat with. We loved the porch, all the chairs available to sit and enjoy the view, the access to a canoe, and the cottage itself. Everything that the owner could control we thouroughly enjoyed. The negative for us (living in rural PA) what the distance from the cottage to the road. The road is the major north-south route on the eastern side of the lake, and even though it was quiet at the cottage 85% of the time, trucks did use the road, and we all know how load some trucks can be. The evenings were very quiet. Early morning you could hear the road becoming more active.
Overall a very positive experience. Our dog settled in very nicely and to sum - up the review, yes, we would stay there again.
AnneMarie was the perfect host! She greeted us when we arrived and gave us an overview of the cottage and general info. We had our daughter and 18 month old granddaughter with us and AnneMarie even brought toys over for her❤️ AnneMarie even lent Eric a fishing pole! She shared the grapes and apples from her yard as well. She was a Wealth of information for places to eat or shop. So very kind ! The cottage was very clean and had everything we needed. We did bring our own linens. Kids will love the loft! Fishing off the dock or on the boat was great. But oh those sunsets!!!

More minuses than pluses for seniors
Minuses - Limited parking, VERY steep stairs to upper floor and balcony, SMALL shower; due to bad weather and flooding prior to our arrival, dock was unavailable for most of our 12 day stay.
Pluses - Convenient location but lots of road noise from traffic.
Definitely would not recommend for seniors.

bathroom shower is a standard 1 person shower.
I am unable to control weather. Hurricane Ida effects came through causing an abundant amount of water on the lawn due to a few road closings with ditches filled to capacity. My driveway next door was offered to park their car.. Waters dropped down by that evening leaving ample room to park.
Plenty of railings and handles to walk up and down stairs.
We had a wonderful time at Camp Onondaga! The cabin is clean and well maintained. The stairs to the loft take a little getting used to but eventually you get the hang of it. Swimming in the lake is absolutely wonderful. The lake is shallow where the cabin is located and it gets deeper very gradually. Plus the lake water is fairly warm, so it's easy to get in! I also appreciated that the row boat and canoe were in great shape, which so very rare these days. To top it all off, fishing on the lake is a lot of fun. There are plenty of fish to catch and even observe.
