Nice location for quieter stay with pool
We had never been to the Big Island, and were flying pretty blind when choosing what place to rent for 10 days. We ultimately were satisfied with this choice for a number of reasons. The unit is fine - not great, but fine. It's position on the edge of the complex means it generally is pretty private, which was nice - you see the golf course, which isn't that active and the golfers were all quiet. You can see just a little sliver of ocean from the edge of the deck, and it's a quick walk down there at sunset. Being near the adult pool is nice, and it was generally underused. The ocean pool is stunning in location - depending on whether children are crowded in, however, can alter your experience.
The check-in was simple since there is a lock box. We parked fairly close and hauling the bags in wasn't too tough. The kitchen was generally well-enough equipped, and the instructions for trash, etc. were easy.
The ratings slips a little on some of the details. As mentioned by the renter right before us, please note you are on the ground level, and depending on your upstairs neighbor, the noise can be mildly irritating or deeply distracting. We had a "stomper" up there the entire visit, and she(?) seemed to be home all the time. It was like she was trying to get her 10,000 steps in all within the walls of her unit. And she was up by 6 am. I know the owner of our rental can't control that, but if that is something you are sensitive to, be warned. Also, there is a nice open area of grass right outside, which isn't very common in the complex. Great for kids to run around - so keep that in mind if you have kids. Also note that you will hear them if you don't! As others noted, the TV is tricky. We did appreciate the A/C, and when there was a hiccup with it, they got maintenance in quickly.
The unit is worn - the main bed sagged, the vertical blinds worked only partially, the towel rods were falling down (and the owner was attentive to that quickly), and the overhead ceiling fan in the master had a loud vibration all night. So, balance that with the reasonable price when considering this unit.
We really appreciated being one mile to the shopping center. Very convenient not to have to go into Kona for quick trips. Be aware that the drive into Kona is SLOW, whether you are on Ali'i or on Route 11 - if you want in on the action, go north. Seemed like mostly retired folks around us, quiet and peaceful - just what we wanted. Thanks!
Location was great. Weather perfect the whole time. Kitchen needs updating. Dishwasher did not work
Overall great time. Unfortunately had a stomper in upstairs unit that we could hear all too clearly
Beautiful Location - Photos don't do this place justice
I cannot emphasize enough how awesome this property was. The photos don't do it enough justice. We had 5 adults and a baby, and there was more than enough space - even for a active 15 month old. Plus, the house was clean and had everything we needed (and more). 2 people in our party slept on the aerobed in the living room and they reported it was comfortable. Although we did not use it, we noticed there was a pack-n-play for a kiddo in one of the bedrooms. As an added bonus, you can see the ocean from the lanai when you are standing up (otherwise the golf course view is nice as well). The parking space was close, and the property was nice. We enjoyed the pools and hot tubs at the property. In addition, the condo is in a perfect location- just a short drive to Kona. We were only there for a few nights before we went to another island, but I would love to come back - and I would highly recommend this place to other families traveling.
Enjoyed every aspect of this property. Comfortable condo, peaceful surroundings and yet convenient to shops.
Kanaloa at Kona
Very quiet and beautiful overlooking golf course. Easy drive into Kona. Just what we were looking for.
About Scott Norris
The Norris family has been traveling to Hawaii for years. We have listed this great Kanaloa at Kona condo on VRBO since we purchased it in 2001.

Why Scott Norris chose Kahaluu-Keauhou
We have stayed at many places in Kona and we looked at everything on the market. Kanaloa at Kona simply stood out from the rest, and as soon as we saw this unit the decision was easy. For overall size and quality, plus the great location and expansive setting, Kanaloa is tops.
What makes this Condo unique
For us one of the big things is traffic--or lack of it, when staying at Kanaloa. We have rented ocean view units at the Bali Kai and others where you get a nice view--from the living room. But in 2BR units the second bedroom may be facing the street! Step outside in those places and there's nowhere to walk or run except up and down the bike lane on Ali'i Drive. So we love Kanaloa where you can step outside and walk barefoot on lawns down to the shoreline, or stroll along the oceanfront or over to the nearby marina.
