The Barn - a little bit rustic, a little bit luxe & little bit wild
The Barn is where the past meets the present in a blend of rustic charm and modern comfort. The thick stone walls and exposed timber beams have stood for over a century and tell a tale of history and heritage from the original Barossan settlers.
Relax in luxe comfort between crisp white cotton sheets and French linen pillowcases/duvet on the super-sized king bed. Light the candles for a romantic evening and feel like a world away from modern life. Wake up to rural views from your private north-facing deck, a perfect spot to unwind and recharge. For your modern needs, be entertained with the smart TV with Chromecast and portable wifi Ultimate Ears Bluetooth speaker. A Nespresso Vertuo coffee machine is provided with a selection of pod coffees alongside teas including herbals.
Your private lockable contemporary bathroom with a separate lockable toilet (and a ‘dunny' view) is a short walk away. Bathrobes are provided. You may not be in a tent but you will enjoy the nuances of glamping as you look up at the stars and feel the magic from the sparkling universe above.
Opposite The Barn, you'll find the Pug Lounge that offers a comfortable covered space to have a BBQ, to lounge and enjoy the atmosphere. You will have access to a Weber gas BBQ, . Additionally, The Barn itself has its own kitchenette equipped with a fridge, microwave, kettle, air fryer and crockery. The Barn does not have plumbed water but a 2-litre ceramic water filter vessel is provided for drinking water that filters out bacteria, contaminants and fluoride.
Whether you're here to unwind , explore or create special memories, the Barn has been a unique location for many of our past guests. We have hosted numerous proposals, engagements, honeymoon and anniversary celebrations for couples who have chosen The Barn to create special memories that last a lifetime.
Whilst it may not suit everyone - especially those who require the comforts of an ensuite bathroom at night - if you think you can enjoy this unique experience, we warmly you to Pondicherri and The Barn.

Carolyn and William were friendly and so helpful with suggestions to get around the Barossa! The views were beautiful and the little private deck was lovely to sit outside at night and watch the stars!
The main room with the bed was well appointed with lots of lovely little touches. Pod machine, chrome cast on tv, king bed, beautifully decorated. The outdoor sitting area was lovely and relaxing and the toilet and bathroom modern. William our host was helpful and a pleasure to deal with.

This was a lovely place to stay for a night or two. The barn has a very comfy king bed, big TV with streaming services provided and a very thoughtful array of tea/coffee/hot choc.
It does have the bathroom facilities (including all sources of running water) in a separate block about 10m from the barn.
The hosts were friendly and their pug is super cute.
Good proximity to Barossa attractions. Very quiet. The fire pit was a hit. Huge bed. A little bit cluttered in the main quarters and a little bit disjointed, having three separate buildings to go to in order to get things done. The host William was very accommodating and keen to make our stay enjoyable.
We didn’t think we were going to like the rustic place but strangely we did. We felt very comfortable in the large bedroom and there was everything we needed. Loved sitting on the little deck in the sunshine. The bathroom facilities are very modern and only a short walk from the bedroom. Thank you.
Spent 2 nights at the Barn and despite the wet and woolly weather we enjoyed our time here. Would get even more out of our stay in the warmer months what with the lovely outdoor areas. Highly recommend eating at Harvest Kitchen near by
Fantastic little cottage. Quiet, peaceful, homely and so relaxing. Came complete with absolutely adorable black pug and a very friendly cat that decided that sleeping with us on our first night was the way to go.
Very clean and private too. 10/10.
If you are looking for something different, this is the place my wife and I started out thinking mmm not sure what’s going on here as time went on we didn’t want to leave we will talk about this place for ever and will never forget it.
I wanted to spent some much needed time with my wife to re connect but didn’t want the usual setting, I reckon I nailed it we definitely recommend this for something unique a place to remember thank Carolyn and William and little pug such a cool dog.
Discovered a lovely quiet part of the Barossa Valley staying at the small charming Penrice cottage
Met on arrival which helps access facilities and provides a friendly welcome
Cheers and hope to return in the future
Absolutely stunning property, beautiful views with all the small details thought of 😍
Such an easy, relaxing and beautiful experience. We had the best stay and were very impressed with all the amenities. Highly recommend and will be back 😄
Lovely quiet retreat from our busy every day lives in the most captivating space. Was amazing to be able to strip back and enjoy the fresh air, gaze at the stars and watch the morning mist roll in from the comfort of the beautiful barn! We will definitely be back as soon as we can.
This beautifully converted historical barn experience was second to none. Extremely well appointed with a peaceful atmosphere and outlook with the best wine and food on our doorstep. Extremely helpful owners who gave us complete privacy but also offering to help in any way if we needed them. Will definitely be back!!

About the host
Hosted by Carolyn Herkes
I love to travel but not enough. I love to cook and share my table with family and friends. I love the smell of a newly picked lemon and fresh bunches of herbs. I love my little animals and the flocks of different birds that play and swoon across Pondicherri. I’m social and then sometimes, I’m a bit reclusive. I love the stillness and promise of a dawning sunrise more than the peace and surrender of a sunset, but both are spectacular, and I’m blessed to experience and appreciate it often. I’m grateful for living in a place that affords peace and privacy. And I enjoy meeting people!
Why they chose this property
Set on 5 acres, Pondicherri is a small acreage landholding with a cluster of small buildings and exudes a rustic village atmosphere. Its borrowed rural amenity and views are enabled as it is surrounded by much larger farming land creating a quiet private oasis yet close to everything within the Barossa Valley. Some of the buildings are of historic interest and date back to 1845.
What makes this property unique
We are only 5 minutes drive to the pretty historic village of Angaston that is well serviced with a varied selection of cafes, restaurants, 2 pubs, a supermarket, butcher, hardware, medical centre, post office and houses specialty Barossa food businesses. We are a 5-minute drive from the famed Barossa Valley Farmers Market that is open every Saturday morning. There are many high-quality wineries, restaurants, food establishments, and historic buildings to explore across the region. If food and wine are not your things, there are numerous walking and cycling trails, some easy bushwalks including spotting kangaroos at Kaisersthul Conservation Park. Or you could go ballooning or go for a helicopter ride for the bird's eye view! Just about everything except surfing! But we are about one hour's drive to the nearest South Australian coastline, only one hour drive into the city of Adelaide and a one hour drive to the Adelaide Hills area. There is so much to do and explore in this beautiful part of Australia. Welcome to Pondicherri Village and The Barn - a little bit rustic, a little bit luxe, and a whole lot of soul comfort.
