About this property

Dixie's Cabin @ Muletown Farm in Columbia, TN 9 miles from Downtown

Dixie's Cabin was constructed in the mid-1900s as a clinic for the veterinarian who owned the property at that time. In 2018, it was renovated to accommodate guests. Enjoy a cup of coffee on the front porch rocking chair, explore the 32-acre property, or prepare some delicious s'mores by the fire pit.

Muletown Farm has been in existence since the early 1800s, and it boasts stunning sunsets, rolling hills, charming old barns, and log cabins. We offer three cabins and a farmhouse for rent, with the capacity to accommodate anywhere from 4 to 10 guests depending on the house you select. Choose your favorite or reserve them all for yourself and your friends! In total, we can accommodate up to 25 guests in all four houses.

We are conveniently located 10 minutes from Downtown Columbia, 55 minutes away from downtown Nashville and 40 minutes away from historic Franklin.

Nice quite getaway
It was a nice peaceful stay, I loved looking out the kitchen window and seeing the horses. I have 2 small suggestions. 1 I came in late and gps had me stop at the drive way before yours, I was able to find a sign on google maps showing the green truck and your farm sign. I know we did just get hit by storms so it may have blown away or got damaged. Something about not wanting to turn down unknown driveways in middle of the night. Second since it was storming I had to walk thru the mud to get from my truck to the cabin witch is not a big deal for me but I could see some people not a fan of the maybe some stepping stones? I just felt bad tracking a little mud inside the cabin.

Visit to Muletown Farms
It was wonderful. Holly and Chris were attentive to our needs, anything we asked for was provided immediately. We even brought my cousin's grandkids out to see Dixie (the horse) and the chickens, bunnies and turkey. They loved it!! I would highly recommend Muletown Farm, it is a beautiful property, a lot of history and very relaxing.

Muletown farm visit
A great piece of property. There are actually three houses all clustered together, which would be great for a gathering of friends or family. Our bed was comfortable. The property was clean. Great communication with the owner. I would definitely go there again without hesitation.

About the host

Hi there! We are the Browns and we purchased our 32-acre farm back in 2017. We were in search of a peaceful place to escape from the fast-paced life, and we were not only able to find what we were looking for but also a place that we can share with others who are seeking a couple of days of relaxation and connection with each other.

Why they chose this property

This farm has a rich history that dates back to 1808-1812 when it was first settled. The land was originally gifted to Colonel Grant by George Washington himself as a token of appreciation for his leadership during the Revolutionary War. Grant's family sold the property to the Armstrong family from South Carolina. Although it's unclear when the main house and side cabin were built, it's believed to have been sometime between 1812-1889. The Armstrongs eventually sold the property to Dr. George, a renowned livestock veterinarian in Maury County, who made the farm popular and recognizable throughout the town. Unfortunately, the farm fell into disarray after Dr. George's passing a few years ago, following a long period of illness. However, we fell in love with the farm's rich history. We saw the potential and had a vision of offering a stress-free weekend getaway to people, providing them with an opportunity to connect with each other, nature, and God. We invite you to be a part of our farm journey and hope that your stay will make your journey a little more pleasant.

What makes this property unique

If you're searching for a place that's close to all the wonderful things that Nashville, Franklin, and Columbia have to offer, but you want to stay on a nostalgic Tennessee farm, then this is the perfect place for you. You can enjoy the best of both worlds - the excitement of city life when you want it, and the peaceful countryside when you just want to get away.

The cabin has been recently updated with new heating and air conditioning, a new bathroom and kitchen, and new flooring. However, we've made sure to maintain the old farm style that makes it wonderfully charming.

We are conveniently located 10 minutes from Downtown Columbia, 55 minutes away from downtown Nashville and 40 minutes away from historic Franklin.
