➔ Billiard Room — Full-size pool table under the chandelier, plus 20+ board games.

➔ Bedroom 1 — King bed, en-suite bath with jetted tub, electric fireplace, Smart TV.

➔ Bedroom 2 — Queen bed, electric fireplace, Smart TV.

➔ Bedroom 3 — Queen bed, electric fireplace, Smart TV.

➔ Bathrooms — 3.5 total, including the jetted-tub en-suite.

➔ Kitchens — Two fully stocked kitchens, dishwasher, oven, coffee setups.

➔ Living Rooms — Two: leather couches, electric fireplaces, Smart TVs.

➔ Office — Private workspace with a desk.

➔ Sauna — Infrared sauna, year-round.

3 PROS:

1. Half a block to Main Street — dinner for 8 on foot

2. Separate zones: billiard room, 2 living rooms, 2 kitchens, office

3. Infrared sauna + electric fireplaces in every bedroom

2 CONS:

1. An 1893 building that lives like one — vintage wear, some dim lighting, quirky switches

2. One wall is shared with a separately booked unit — noise can carry; white noise machines provided

Guest Access:

You have the full main unit plus the lockoff bunk suite — both levels, both kitchens, the billiard room, sauna, and office. Self check-in by keypad, with free parking in front of the house and on the street.

Before arrival you'll receive an email link to our digital guidebook — this is the only place check-in details live, and it's also where pet registration is handled, so please open it before you travel.

The Neighborhood:

You're one block off Harrison Avenue in Leadville's National Historic Landmark District — coffee, restaurants, bars, museums, and shops are a half-block stroll from the front porch.

From this corner of town:

- Ski Cooper (15 min), Copper Mountain (25 min), and Vail (47 min) for lift-served days

- The Mineral Belt Trail loop for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and summer rides

- Turquoise Lake (12 min) for paddling, fishing, and shoreline sunsets

- Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive trailheads (about 26 min) — Colorado's two highest peaks

- Leadville's mining district, ghost towns, and Mosquito Pass for history and 4x4 days

Getting Around:

Most of town is walkable from the door — Main Street is half a block away. Free parking in front of the house, and in winter the free Lake County shuttle and Summit Stage connect Leadville to Copper Mountain and the Frisco Transit Center on snow days.

Other Things to Note:

License #001270

Pets: yes, 2 max — $85 pet fee, registered through our guidebook link. Pets may not be left unattended at the property; doggy daycare options are nearby.

Hot Tub: Please note that the hot tub is shared between the GM Main House and GM Attic when both units are occupied.

The GM Main and The GM Attic are units in the Governors Mansion.

Stays over 15 days include a required mid-stay cleaning (fee applies).

No A/C. Elevation is 10,152 ft — hydrate on day one and pace yourself; altitude sickness is real and not refundable.

This is an 1893 building in the Rockies: vintage wear and the occasional critter are part of the deal, and one wall is shared with a separately booked suite (white noise machines provided). After heavy snow, watch for snow-removal signs on parking.

Interaction with Guests:

We're locals and a text away — typical response under an hour. A couple of other suites in the mansion are booked separately with their own private entrances; your unit is fully self-contained. We'll check in once after arrival, then leave you to your trip.

Great location

We spent a night here while travelling for work and were surprised by the large size and beauty of the house. The location is less than a block off the main street and we had no issues parking. Check in was a little confusing, but worked by the time I got to the property. I d oh don’t have a code to send to others arriving earlier until I actually showed up at the house and did not receive an email response from the hospitality company that had been emailing me about my stay.

Great place to stay

Beautiful building, old, slightly worn, charming. Some inconvenience such as no body soap or wash in any shower, no wine opener, only one wash cloth. Beds very comfy with good pillows and mattresses. Fun electric fireplaces. great location and unique. You WILL definitely hear people walking around above you in the loft apartment. Convenient fenced yard. Not manicured by any means but fine with me. Would definitely stay again.

Place needs some attending to.

The home was ther perfect location and walkable to many rhings in the town. The highlight of the rental was the pool table. We truly enjoyed plsying as a family. The rental needs some work. Furniture was either torn or highly soiled and the lighting throughout the home was poor. No task lighting in the living area or the kitchen and the light above the pool table was very very dim. All else was fine in the house.

Spacious and historic Leadville accommodations

We love Leadville. It's such a great town - it's so honest about itself, but as a result, accommodations can be hit or miss. Nevertheless, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Governor's Mansion. It has a great location for walking to main street, it's quite spacious, and it's atmosphere fits Leadville perfectly. The mattresses are all memory foam / "Purple" style, and quite firm, which aren't our favorites but should hold up well for a rental property and were fine once settled in. The living room and pool table were great for evenings of struggling to stay awake after high-altitude adventures in the surrounding mountains. The fenced in front yard is also great for a morning or evening cup of something warm or cheery while idly tossing a ball for the pupper. Downsides - and these are all minor nits, nothing major - it's a bit rough around the edges - just like Leadville. The kitchen lighting was poor and the kitchen could do with a few more cooking utensils; the window coverings were a bit...rustic; and it could do with some better sound isolation between the two main units, primarily at the door between them at the front entry way; and it needed maybe some details like a bathroom shelf/table for toiletries in the master bedroom on the 2nd floor and a few updated bath fixtures that were showing some wear, but work fine. None of these distracted from our enjoyment of a unique home in the last high altitude wild west town on earth. It will be on our list when we return!

Perfect location in Leadville

As a hiking party of three, we were looking for accommodations in Leadville that provided separate bedrooms, good facilities, and spacious room close enough to town to walk to restaurants and shops. This property exceeded our expectations in all areas. Bed mattresses were all excellent for great sleeping conditions, and the kitchen/dining area was spacious and well stocked. The property managers were available to answer all our questions and most helpful to newcomers to the Leadville area. We would definitely stay here again.

Alex, welcome to Leadville. It is a historic town where most of the houses are built in the 1800s - believe it or not the Governor's Mansion is in one of the best conditions of any of the homes here. I'm honestly disappointed at your review considering how rude you were to us. Not only did you call and yell at the property manager, but you called because you didn't take the time to find the 4th bedroom and when our property manager explained to you where it was, you didn't say thank you, you simply hung up on him. It seems to me you are an angry person and I hope you find your peace.

Good for most, but not for everyone

This was a good location, close to downtown, at a reasonable price. They promptly answered all questions. The 2 full baths and 3 normal bedrooms are upstairs. On the 1st floor is only a very small half bath. While there is a bedroom on the 1st floor, it is not part of the heating system for the rest of the house, and it is very small. A standalone heater is in this bedroom (which is useful even on summer nights in Leadville). The rest of our group would stay here again - for me, if I had known this information in advance, then I never would have stayed here.

Wonderful spot in Leadville

We loved our time at the Governors Mansion! It is just off Main street so it's easy to walk anywhere downtown. It's about a 15 minute drive to Ski cooper, which was an easy drive. The rooms are big and roomy and our boys loved having a pool table in the house! Definitely recommend it for families. We will be back!

Clean, cozy, and perfect location!

The house was very cozy and clean! It was the perfect location, right around the corner from downtown! The beds were so comfortable, which is hard to find at a lot of places! The home owners were very welcoming and very easy to get a hold of! The only thing negative about the whole stay was we didn't realize that the house was split into 3 different sections and we were sharing the house with others but it was never an issue with noise or anything like that!
