Beautiful, secluded, little slice of Wisconsin paradise. Pet friendly. Clean. A nice hot tub if you need a break from swimming in the lake. Water toys available. Not a far drive from some cool trails and waterfalls.
It was exactly what I was looking for - a few days in the woods with my pup running free happiest I have ever seen him! The hot tub was perfect, the location is so private and quiet, and the entire place was so charming and comfortable, I loved every minute of it! All of the little details make it so special.
The secluded cabin was perfect for dogs with stranger anxiety. They enjoyed walking the wooded dirt roads on long leashes. We enjoyed kayaking on a quiet lake and relaxing in the well maintained hot tub and sitting by the bonfire. Taverns, coffee shop and gift/antique shops all nearby.
This is the second time my husband and I have stayed here with our two dogs and we will definitely be back again! We love this little cabin- there’s lots to do but this time we mostly stayed inside or in the hot tub where we could stay plenty warm and unplug from our busy lives for a few days.
We had an amazing time at the Lil Bear! Using the hot tub in the middle of the winter wonderland was fabulous! We had everything we could possibly need and enjoyed our time immensely!
Exactly as listed- excellent host, very superior property, everything you need was provided for. Great getaway— I really wish I had more time to spend there.
Cabin is cozy and it had everything we needed. The property is great, super private and secluded. We brought our boat and we slayed the bass and huge blue gills. The lake is smaller but the fishing was great. The wildlife was awesome, a bunch of eagles and other birds of prey.aqebirds oawtreat
I loved my time at this property. The scenery was beautiful, saw a beaver and swans most days, great sunsets, spectacular hammock, lovely added amenities. A real gem! A must stay!!
We always a have great stay at Little Bear Lodge. Stephanie, the owner is responsive to all concerns. Everything needed is within a few miles(grocery, cheese, meats, antiques, casino), but feels so secluded. We caught a lot of fish and always enjoy this quiet lake. We have already booked our stay for next year.
Little Bear Lodge is a rare find! We loved our stay here! The cabin is adorable and the location can’t be beat. The inside is clean and cozy and the outside is very private and picture perfect. We loved having easy access to the lake with plenty of toys provided to keep the kids entertained (kayaks, paddle boat, paddle boards), a fire pit for s’mores, a hammock to relax in, a grill, and plenty of places to just sit and enjoy nature. We have nothing but positive things to say about our stay and hope to come back again in the future!
We stayed at the lil bear cabin and loved it all. So much wildlife and privacy. Very accurate description of the cabin. All the essentials were provided. We made use of the kayaks and paddle boat. And when the sun started to set we had fun by the campfire and toasted some marshmallows. It was very convenient that the firewood was provided. We will definitely be looking through our schedules to find another time to come back.
This was a much needed escape for our family. Property was as described and had many amenities and nice touches. Games and books well stocked, lake area was clean, lots of available firewood. The A/C was nice for sleeping during humid nights. Beds were very comfortable! Thanks again.
This small cabin in the woods is always peaceful and restful. No noise from neighbors and little boat traffic. This was our fifth trip to Little Bear, and it never disappoints. Plenty to do in the surrounding small towns and there is excellent fishing in Long Lake. We have already booked for 2023. Stephanie is always responsive and helpful.
This is our second (of hopefully many) years at Lil Bear cabin! It’s like traveling back in time and enjoying the slow-living lifestyle I try to produce in our city life: Fishing, kayaking, walks in the woods, cooking over a campfire, canoeing, bird watching, roasting s’mores, reading by the lake…It’s all there. Thanks to Stephanie for being a wonderful host! -Autumn
The cabin is gorgeous. Decorated nicely, and super clean! All the perks of a rustic stay with creature comforts like a great a/c unit and a keurig.
While it’s tempting to just stay in the comfy cozy cabin all day, the outdoors will call you. The boats are well kept, fresh firewood that burnt amazing, and clean lifejackets. Fishing was fun! The kids were able to catch small fish (not big enough to keep) and we caught a catfish. Saw lots of loons and a pregnant deer across the water.
I cannot say enough good things about this cabin or the owner! She was consistent with communication before, during, and after the stay.
We will definitely return in the future!!

About the host

Hi! My name is Stephanie. I am a web designer and I also manage and own a few rental properties. I grew up in Woodbury, MN and currently still live near the Twin Cities. I attended the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire for college. I love the outdoors and I grew up spending time at family friend's cabins, so I enjoy getting to share our little cabin with others.
Why they chose this property
When we were initially looking for a cabin, we wanted something that truly felt like a getaway. We chose the Turtle Lake/Cumberland area because I grew up going to our family friend's cabin in Cumberland, and I fell in love with the area. It's also such a perfect distance from the Twin Cities, at just 90 minutes, and close to many cities in Wisconsin. With nearly 8 acres, this cabin felt like a true escape from city life. It's cozy, and we don't claim it to be a mansion, but it really has everything you need in a cabin. Plus, isn't the point to spend time with family or friends?! We also wanted to make sure that everything we love to do at cabins, we get to share with our renters. We provide lots of outdoor activities, such as paddleboards, a canoe, a hammock, fire pits, and a swim platform just to name a few.
