Ventura Retreat

Great updated older house on tree lined street. Nicely landscaped rear fully enclosed yard for your furry fellow travelers and your self to enjoy afternoon sunshine and breezes.

Just like a local!

If you are looking to feel what its like to actually live in Ventura, especially on the west side, this the place! Local stores and local people. Really nice vibe! The house and yard are great! Everything you need! Feels like your ‘at home’ ! Nothing fancy but was just right for us. The host were very responsive and great! The only slightly annoying thing was the neighbours yappy dog. I understand that the owner and other neighbours were trying to do something about it. We were there for almost 3 months and would certainly come back again. Really enjoyed our time there!!!!!

Ventura Cottage

The process with vrbo was very easy and the owner was very accommodating. The house and yards are well maintained and clean. It is a nice neighborhood, close to beach, shops, restaurants and enjoyable place to stay.

Homey, relaxing house on a friendly neighborhood block

My husband, pup and I stayed at Sylvie and Craig’s house for 5 months this year. We originally only planned to stay for 2, but kept extending because of the warm vibe, the beautiful yard, the friendly neighbors and it’s proximity to the beach and Ojai Valley hiking. I can’t recommend this home enough. I’ll also mention that we both worked from the house and never had an issue with the internet. It’s strong, and video call friendly. Perfect for an extended stay - we will certainly be back!

We are an international couple, Craig from Australia and Sylvie from Belgium, both now citizens and proud Ventura residents. Craig is a marine engineer, Sylvie a tour guide. We both love travelling and spend quite a few months each year doing so.

Why they chose this property

The street and the neighborhood really appealed to us; very quiet with the bustling Ventura Avenue just around the corner. Our street has a cul-de-sac at each end, neighbors are very friendly and as sociable as you like them to be.

What makes this property unique

We spend a lot of time in the back yard when we are home. We have apple, navel orange, pomegranate, and lime trees as well as various herb bushes, a lush drought-tolerant lawn for the dog to play "fetch" on. A large hammock and two deck chairs for relaxing on and a deck with outdoor table and chairs complete with an umbrella for the sun, a patio heater for the cooler evenings and a large 3-burner gas BBQ grill for outdoor cooking.
The house itself is also charming with open living areas, beautiful oak flooring, recently remodeled bathroom and kitchen all recently painted and eclectically decorated.
