This perfectly located getaway sits just above historic Kealakekua Bay – ranked #11 in the world and #1 in Hawaii by CNN as one of the best snorkeling destinations. The home is nestled in a beautiful and peaceful neighborhood that radiates the charm of old Hawaii, yet is only a short drive from Kona and minutes away from beaches, restaurants, a supermarket, cafés, banks, a hospital, and more.
The airport is located 6 miles north of Kailua-Kona. Our home is 14 miles south of Kailua-Kona – perfectly situated for both relaxation and exploration. For reference, Kona Paradise (which may offer slightly lower rates) lies another 12 miles, or a 25-minute drive, further south.
Our LUXURY home offers 2,300 sq ft (215 sq m) of living space, including a magnificent 1,150 sq ft covered lanai – the true soul of the home. Step out each morning to enjoy your espresso while watching the sun rise over the mountains, or sip wine in the evening as the sun melts into the ocean. At night, soak in the spacious hot tub under the stars with the soothing sounds of nature all around you. With the sweeping 180-degree views of the coastline, ocean, and lush mountains, from Kealakekua Bay to Honaunau Bay, you’ll find yourself completely enchanted – guests often tell us they can’t tear themselves away from the lanai.
The fully equipped kitchen and living area form an open, welcoming space perfect for cooking, relaxing, and entertaining. Enjoy a premium espresso machine, microwave, conventional oven, dishwasher, large Weber grill, and gorgeous quartz countertops. Whether you're preparing meals, sharing drinks at the island (seating for 4), or watching a movie on the 75" 4K Smart TV, everything flows seamlessly.
Dine al fresco at the large lanai dining table that seats up to eight while the sun sets across the ocean. The living room features a luxury sofa and entertainment setup with cable TV, Netflix, and more.
The top floor sleeps up to four guests in one king bed and two twin beds (which can be joined into a king). There is also the option to add a folding bed with a memory foam mattress – ideal for a child or smaller adult.
Wake up to unforgettable views right from your bed. At 1,100 ft elevation, the temperatures are ideal – around 80°F (27°C) during the day and 70°F (21°C) at night – providing natural comfort without the need for air conditioning.
Our home is located in a quiet and friendly neighborhood with an easy driveway and ample parking. You’re just minutes from The Coffee Shack, one of the best breakfast spots on the island, and close to a wide range of beaches and activities.
Here’s a taste of your first days:
Day 1: Head down to Kealakekua Bay (12 min) for snorkeling, kayaking, or spotting wild spinner dolphins in the morning.
Day 2: Drive 20 minutes south to Hookena Beach, one of the island’s most secluded and magical sandy beaches, perfect for swimming – and often visited by dolphins.
Day 3: Explore Honaunau National Historical Park (10 min) for a cultural experience and another stunning stretch of coastline.
Day 4: A visit to Hilton Waikoloa is well worth the trip—if only to appreciate just how peaceful and special it feels to return to the house afterward! The drive takes about 45 minutes north, and along the way you’ll find several of the island’s most beautiful beaches, perfect for a relaxing day in the sun.
Day 5: Take a day trip to Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park – about a 1 hour and 30 minute drive. Here you'll witness one of the world’s few active volcanoes, a truly awe-inspiring and unforgettable experience. Walk across ancient lava fields, feel the heat rising from steam vents, and if you're lucky, see the glow of molten lava in the distance. It’s a powerful reminder of the raw, living energy of the island.
Evenings offer great dining nearby, from the celebrated Keei Café (10 min north), or continue 10–20 minutes further to Kailua-Kona for a full range of restaurants, bars, shops, and services.
This home is also the perfect base for exploring the Big Island. You can circle the island in a day – starting at sunrise and returning by night – or take two days for a more relaxed journey. We recommend:
Visiting Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park,
Strolling through the rainforest on the 4-Mile Scenic Drive north of Hilo,
Stopping at Akaka Falls near sunset,
Exploring Waimea on the way back,
Or spending a night in Hilo for even deeper discovery.
Families love Hilo Zoo, and on the right night, you might even glimpse lava flowing in the distance.
After every adventure, guests tell us the same thing: “It feels so good to come home.” The peace, the air, the view – nothing compares. For those curious about the resort areas north of Kona, they're only 45 minutes away – but you may find that visiting them only makes you appreciate the calm and authenticity of your home even more.
Hapuna Beach, the island’s largest white sand beach, is also up north (about 50 minutes away) and well worth a day trip.

About the host
Hosted by Mikael and Carola Owner/ Manager

Aloha! We’ve been visiting this magical island of Hawai‘i for over 30 years. Our very first trip was both our honeymoon and a chance to attend a dolphin retreat—and it became one of the most profound and unforgettable experiences of our lives, truly beyond words.
Although we’ve traveled the world and explored the other Hawaiian Islands, the Big Island—and especially the area around Kealakekua Bay—has always been the place that calls us back. The climate, the ocean, the people, the deep Hawaiian spirit, the incredible diversity, and the presence of dolphins have left a lasting imprint on our hearts.
What makes this part of the island so unique is the stretch from Kealakekua Bay to Hōnaunau Bay and down to Ho‘okena Beach Park. It’s one of the few regions that has remained unchanged for over 30 years, preserving the magic and authenticity of old Hawai‘i. The landscape, the atmosphere, and the cultural spirit here are timeless—lush, peaceful, and full of mana, the deep spiritual energy that defines this island.

Why they chose this property
The area around Kealakekua Bay and Hōnaunau Bay has always been our favorite place on the Big Island. It’s lush, green, and incredibly beautiful—with a deep sense of old Hawaiian culture that’s still alive in the land and the people. For us, it’s the perfect balance of peace, nature, and adventure. It also happens to be one of the very best places on the island for snorkeling, scuba diving, and watching wild dolphins in their natural habitat. We fell in love with this place decades ago—and we’re still just as enchanted.
What makes this property unique
This is a newly built home designed with care and intention, offering everything you could possibly need for a truly relaxing stay—plus something truly rare: a breathtaking 180° view of both the ocean and the mountains. What truly sets this property apart is the expansive 1,100 sq ft (100 m²) covered lanai, which serves as the heart of the home. Whether you're enjoying morning yoga, a sunset dinner, stargazing from the hot tub, or simply lounging with a book, the lanai offers an unforgettable connection to the beauty of Hawai‘i.
