The Burt Lake cottage was impeccably considered for a multi-generational stay. They even had a small cubby outfitted with kids toys and a designated boat moaring area on their dock. Our family had a wonderful stay and created core memories with our children!

Best VRBO experience ever!!! Amazing Property!

By far the best Vrbo experience we have had. The owners are amazing and the property it’s self is stunning. The house is gorgeous and with the beach and lake in the backyard it is the perfect vacation!

Great Week on Burt Lake

This property is as beautiful and well-kept as the pictures portray. You will NOT be disappointed! Beautiful home,guest cottage, lake and surrounding area. Close to Mackinac Island and all the quaint lake towns of the northern lower penninsula. We had a great time here!!

Awesome place for multiple families

Loved the cabin! It was a perfect place for 3 adult siblings, their families and grandparents. There was plenty of room for all, cabin was not only super clean, but also was beautifully furnished as well. Beach was great and our toddlers LOVED the “playroom” under the stairs.

Special Place

Beautiful property that we made so many memories with campfires at night, kids playing in sand, finding pretty rocks and frogs. They even spotted a bald eagle! Totally recommend this property for your family vacation. Location was great allowing us to visit Petoskey and Mackinac Island. Love love loved our week at this special place!

First Trip to Burt Lake

Beautiful cabin and cottage worked wonderfully for our family. Cabin and cottage are decorated with that "UP North" feel we are all after. Sherry and Bill were great to work with and attentive to our needs. Hope to be back next year!

10/10 — We couldn’t have asked for a better place! This cabin truly deserves the highest rating in every category. The owners are incredibly gracious and hospitable, accessible, responsive, and communicate so well throughout the entire process. They have thought of everything and stocked the cabin with everything you could possibly need. You really only need to pack your clothes and a few personal necessities! The peaceful setting on Burt Lake is beautiful. The beach is clean and free of debris, and the water has no dangerous drop-offs, making it perfect beach for children to play and enjoy. There’s a toy nook for kids, games for the whole family, a closet full of life jackets and beach toys, kayaks to use, and roasting sticks for beach fires and s’mores. Boat rentals are nearby too! The hammock beside the little babbling creek became a favorite spot, and I think everyone got lost in their dreams there at least once. We held our son and daughter-in-law’s small, intimate wedding here, and the main cabin, yard, beach, and nearby guest cottage were the perfect setting. The cottage was ideal for the groomsmen to get ready and gave the bride and groom their own space to stay during our family vacation. We enjoyed family dinners, boating, tubing, beach time, fires, s’mores, and simply being together. This place gave us memories we’ll cherish forever…and we may have even started a new family tradition right here on this beach. We would absolutely love to return!

Beautiful Burt Lake Home

This is our 3rd summer visit to Bill & Sherry’s home & it has been perfect each time! Love all the extras they share with guests including everything from water toys to fire pit supplies, extra condiments, and basic household stock. Morning coffee on porch watching hummingbirds & overlooking Burt is a favorite. It is the best place for a family to make Burt Lake memories!

Beautiful home on a Beautiful Lake

Our family of three generations spent a week on Burt Lake. The Log Home is absolutely beautiful with spacious rooms and a great kitchen. The cottage is comfortable as well. We loved the lake, which was quiet throughout the week. The beach is sandy and the water is shallow and warm; great for end of June swimming. We rented a pontoon boat and our grandchildren enjoyed tubing on the lake.

2024 family vacation

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful log home. This our first full family vacation with adult siblings, all the kids and grandma and grandpa! We made so many memories and absolutely loved the home. It was so clean and well equipped. Bill and Sherry were so easy to communicate with and the whole process was a breezy! You won’t want to leave!!

Our stay was wonderful. It’s very apparent the owners take great care of their home. It was very well maintained and clean. Owners were very easy to get in touch with and had quick responses the couple times we needed to contact them. The beach was perfect size for the kids to enjoy and they had a lot of fun swimming. The covered porch was so nice and we found ourselves hanging out there often. I highly recommend this home. We would love to come back, we didn’t want to leave!

Up North Getaway

Another great time on Burt Lake but even better in this special log home and cabin again! This is our go to property when we want to enjoy this part of Michigan. Guys hit the links, while the ladies hit Harbor Springs and Petoskey. Other than a wonderful dinner at Michael’s Steakhouse in Indian River, we enjoyed hanging out and eating dinner at the lake. Kitchen is well stocked! Plenty of seating outdoors to enjoy this beautiful waterfront property, a very peaceful setting! Highly recommend!

Beautiful location on Burt Lake

Our entire family really enjoyed the beautiful setting on Burt Lake and the gorgeous log home and cozy cabin. We especially loved being so close to the U of M biological station as kayaking along their untouched shoreline and hiking their trails were our favorite activities. It was unfortunately too cold to swim but we enjoyed volleyball on the sandy beach. Both buildings are well equipped and have everything you need for your stay. The owners are extremely helpful and very responsive. We had a very relaxing time.

A charming northern MI retreat

Great property large enough to accommodate large groups without feeling crowded. Large well stocked kitchen has everything you will need for any meal you choose to make while there. Cottage is a nice perk for families with bigger kids. They liked sleeping over there and having their own space. Amazing view from the great room out to Burt Lake. We were there in winter but the beach looks amazing and the owners have all the outside accommodations you will need. Property is close to several small towns for exploring. Owner was easy to communicate with.

Perfect relaxation station

We had an absolute wonderful stay at this home. Communication with the owner was very prompt with well laid out instructions for entering and leaving the cabin along with great recommendations for local food and ice cream treats. The cabin was only a half hour drive (at most) to Mackinac Island which was perfect for spending the day there and coming back to relax at the cabin. The cabin was very well equipped with everything you could want and was so accommodating for all of our needs. The kayaks were an amazing bonus! Plenty for the whole family to go all out on the lake together. The peaceful nights out by the bonfire with your toes in the sand or relaxing in the hammock under the stars. It was such an enjoyable week and I would highly recommend staying in this cabin!

Reconnecting to Northern Michigan

Growing up by spending summers on both Lake Charlevoix and Burt Lake, but now living for the past 20 years in Atlanta, and having evolved into a family with 5 grandchildren, our family's goal was to "go back to the lake" and the area that defined so much of our memories. This property was absolutely ideal for that goal! The cabins were spotless, fully stocked, beautifully appointed, and the grounds that included both a lush lawn and a sandy beach exceeded our expectations. A volleyball net, 5 kayaks, beach toys, fire pit and a hammock were all bonuses! Communications with Bill and Sherry were both professional and personal, and you can tell that they put their hearts into making their guests as comfortable as possible. Highly recommended!

Up North Getaway.

Second time to this log home. Really enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, as it is near the end of a dead-end road. Hiked in the nearby wildlife area, while bird watching. Also enjoyed watching a variety of waterfowl on the lake. Got some kayaking in. The home is amazing (the ladies love the kitchen)! The covered porch is helpful on rainy days. Almost a zero entry beach, great for young children. Between Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Indian River and Mackinaw City, or just jaunts out into the countryside, there is plenty to do and see. Usually we do October for fall colors, but had to go early this year. The fall colors in the area are excellent if you can hit it right.
