The place was clean and spacious. However, our main issue was with the hot tub, which is advertised prominently as a key amenity. When we arrived, the hot tub and entire deck was buried under 18" of snow. It took an hour to dig out the hot tub and deck. When we finally got the cover off, there was no power to the hot tub, and the water was frigid. They sent a tech person who flipped a tripped breaker on the main box to get power to it, but he said it would take 5 hours to heat, making it unusable for us on the day of arrival (we stayed one night). An hour after the hot tub was "fixed," the power was off again, so it was basically unusable--electrical problem. Nothing further was done to fix it. We asked for a discount, and to their credit, they did provide 150 and a 1 hour extension on check out time, but it felt too little too late. The fact that they advertised this as a place with a hot tub but did nothing to make that hot tub usable (e.g., most people would not take the time to clear off that much snow even if the hot tub was functional) is a huge red flag. Not quite a scam but not good!

Hi Loren!
Thank you for your detailed feedback. We’re glad you found the home clean and spacious, but we sincerely apologize for the difficulties you experienced with the hot tub. Guest comfort and safety are our top priorities, and we understand how disappointing it is to arrive expecting a fully functional hot tub and find it unusable.
Snowfall can sometimes make deck and hot tub access challenging, and we encourage guests to contact us immediately if any issues arise so we can assist as quickly as possible. Our team responded promptly by sending a technician and providing a partial refund along with a checkout extension, but we understand this did not fully meet your expectations.
We truly appreciate your feedback. We hope you’ll consider staying with us again so we can provide the seamless experience you were expecting.
Haha. Only two very minor issues with the property:
1. The only coffee maker was a Keurig. I think most people expect a coffee maker. If its only a Keurig please make that prominent so we can purchase PODS. Most people bring ground coffee.
2. We could never figure out how to turn on the drop lights which we really wanted to use.
Again, two tiny thoughts. It was a great property!

Hi Raymond, thank you so much for your feedback! So sorry about the coffee situation! We will be sure to look into the description of the coffee machine for the cabin. Next time for the drop lights, feel free to call the office and we can either explain how to use the lights or we could send someone to do it for you. Thank you so much for staying with Big Bear Cool Cabins and we hope to see you again soon! :)
Property was good. The only issue was utilizing the tvs. You should include some instructions on how to use the them. We were unable to watch cable tv. We were forced to only use Amazon Prime or Netflix.

Clean and Just OK
Overall this property was fine. They had mini packs of essential toiletries which was a nice touch. Located close to Rental, Big Bear, Snow Summit and Grocery. But it did fall short on a few key points.
Upon arriving at the house we noticed that the Hot Tub was chained closed. We had to call the rental office and they sent someone out with the keys to open it. Not a huge deal and but it took about 2 hrs for them to come give us the key. Not something that we wanted to deal with at night after a long drive up the mountain. It also only hold 3 people MAX before overflowing in a 6 person house.
The TV would not support the firestick we brought so that we wouldn't have to login to our services on the rental's TV.
Later that night when going to use the grill we realized the propane was empty. It was too late to call and get a replacement. When propane is added as a daily charge I expect it to be there and in perfect condition. When the maintenance finally did come to replace the tank hours after we called the next day, they left the gas on. Not the safest and nor the brightest maintenance man ever. We were also not refunded for the day and a half we did not have propane.
The next day when it was finally light out we noticed that the entire yard was littered with dog poop. It was clear that the previous renters and the cleaning crew was cleaning the yard.
The microwave almost blew up upon using it the first time and took all day for a replacement to be brought.
On our final night after being on the mountain all day and coming back from the night session, we realized the hot tub would no longer turn on. We immediately called to get it turned on but the property management would not come over as it was "after hours". Apparently, there is a 9pm curfew for "spa useage". This was listed no where in our contract, was not in the welcome binder or forms, nor was it told to us upon check-in. The night session ends at 8:30pm which means there is no way for anyone night skiing or boarding to come back and enjoy the hot tub to soothe the sore muscles.
All the beds did not have fitted sheets and came off as you slept.
The upstairs bedroom is a loft and has no door.
If you are renting this place for purely sleep this place is great but otherwise the lack of communication of policies, availability of services we were paying for, punctuality of correcting issues and cleanliness I would not recommend and would not book again even if it was the only place.

Hi Ashely,
Thank you for staying with us and leaving a review. We are very happy you enjoyed this cabin. I would like to apologize for the negative customer service you experienced. This is not our standard of customer service and we are very embarrassed about this.
Loved the house, and the staff at Cool Cabins was great and VERY responsive!
The only issue we had was the breaker went out on the microwave and refrigerator the last day, but they sent a maintenance and gave us late check out, so it was taken care of ASAP. Otherwise, great stay and experience, and we would definitely rent this exact house again!

Peaceful location, overall just ok
This house is in a great neighborhood, nice/ clean hot tub, and has a safe set up for dogs. It even has a doggie door! The kitchen was spacious and family friendly. The downside is that the property could use a deep clean inside (there were ants in the living room, smudges on the bathroom doors, we found a millipede in one of the beds), cleaning/ dusting of all the outdoor furniture would be helpful (there were lots of spiderwebs/ pine needles/dust), and there was also poor communication with the property management company prior to our arrival. You have to physically stop at their offices prior to going to your rental (office staff was nice but it’s just another step), we were told the property was ready for us (checked in around 445pm), and then arrived at the home to find the cleaning staff still working (it took an extra 25 mins) which after a long car ride was a little frustrating. Plus the cleaning staff were not wearing masks which was concerning to us.

Hello Deni,
I'm so sorry to hear that you had a bit of a frustrating start to your stay and that you found the cleaning lacking. We try out best make sure everyone gets all the information they need ahead of time. However, after a long drive all you want to do is start the rest and relaxation and we understand! As far as the cleaning we'll make sure to discuss that with housekeeping so that the property can benefit from the deep clean you suggested. Thank you so much for your feedback and your review.
Thank You,
