A really wonderful house with large pool and gardens. Amazing mountain views. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. Location is great, on the outskirts of Soller and just a short walk to local shops and the tram.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. However, I would add that we live in a very rural area of Soller and it is entirely normal to have wild cockerels, peacocks and pen hens in the outlying orchards and fields. As one would expect in the countryside there are also donkeys and other creatures in the area such as dogs and cats and loud frogs! ;-) As regards equipment, all is practically new in our home from brand new fridge freezer, washing machine, dryer, and Nespresso coffee machine, kettle and toaster, to pans and dishes and linens. We do use IKEA wine glasses rather than for example, expensive crystal because many are of course broken by guests during the season and need to be easily replaced. These guests did incur some breakages including a heavy alabaster pestle, and dyed towels green which was a slight challenge for our laundry team! All the same, we're glad they had a fun stay. About the host
Hosted by Alan Stewart
My writer wife, 19 year-old son and I left our hectic life in central London for the beautiful Soller valley back in 2001 and have never regretted the move! It is a veritable paradise with orchards of golden lemons, oranges, olives and almonds all offset by the splendour of the Tramuntanas and the glittering sea. We live a very rural life, grow our own vegetables and keep a small harem of friendly hens, clucked over by cockerel Carlos. During the summer we tend to travel so recently decided to open up our home to guests - the sort of discerning souls who love the best and simple things of life - tranquillity, sun, relaxation, beauty, good gastronomy, spectacular scenery and charismatic and friendly locals. We therefore very much look forward to extending a warm welcome to you soon!
Why they chose this property
La Huerta, meaning the orchard, is Soller's best kept secret. Although surrounded by olive groves and citrus orchards it's just a stone's throw from both Soller town and port. The neighbours are welcoming, the air pure and fresh and one feels a million miles away from traffic and hustle and bustle. All this just a brisk 15 minute walk from the town!
We fell in love with our historic vicarage because of its beauty, warm ambience and idyllic and private location. We love that we can park right up to the door in our own courtyard and hear nothing but the sounds of nature and lie on the terrace smiling up at the clusters of stars at night. It is a special house with a magical history. We would never want to live anywhere else.
What makes this property unique
The joy of living in a rural location is being able to pluck your own lemons and oranges from the trees in the orchard each day, enjoy your own organic eggs and sit out on the peaceful terrace watching the sun set over the tramuntana mountains by night, with a glass of chilled Rosado in hand! The property is open plan downstairs, with plenty of sunlight on three sides and yet cool in the summer and cosy in the winter! One would be hard pushed to find a finca with so much character and so many assets which is why we chose our ruin and lovingly refurbished it in the first place. All our fittings and materials are of the highest quality. The house was painstakingly restored by Soller craftsmen with passion, skill and local pride.
