Despite the endless driving rain outside, we had a great time at Spring Cottage, which was ideally located, spotlessly clean, and beautifully furnished. The arrival/ departure instructors were also very clear and the property had everything we needed.
We had a fantastic stay and couldn’t have asked for better. The location is ideal—just a short walk into town. Even over a busy bank holiday, it felt like we had the best of both worlds, like we'd cheated the system somehow. We could dip in and out for food, shopping, and a bit of atmosphere, then retreat back to the house without worrying about parking (space for two cars on site) or dealing with the crowds for too long, although its a lot of fun people watching with an ice cream in hand. The house itself was spotless and beautifully presented, with everything we needed. We stayed as two adults with a 2.8-year-old, and it was well set up for families. There were even additional items suitable for younger children and babies, which was great to see.The shepherd’s hut was a highlight for our little one—she loved the tea set, Playmobil camper, and the selection of books for all ages. The direct access to the park from the back gate was also a huge plus, making it easy to come and go as we pleased.Beyond being family-friendly, the house is spacious and comfortable, easily accommodating six guests with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and dining areas. Even in May, the garden was catching the evening sun, so I imagine it’s a real sun trap in the summer months.Lynsey was a wonderful host—friendly, responsive, and easy to communicate with throughout. We’d absolutely recommend this property - a brilliant home in a great location, with plenty to do all walking distance.
Beautiful property in a fantastic location. Everything you could ask for plus extra little touches within the property. Property owners were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us, making us feel very welcome and gave us lots of information about the village. Would highly recommend and would love to go back in the future.
Great Cosy cottage within walking distance from Bourton on Water main street
We had a lovely stay at this very cosy well appointed cottage - managed by Lyndsey.
She helped us coordinate before arrival to book taxis from station.
The cottage overall was very tastefully decorated- every little detail was taken care off. Kitchen had all teh items one needed, we did have 1 dinner at home and found the instructions around very easy to follow. The room were cosy with very comfy beds. It was a bit HOT when we went - but there were fans in each room, so all good.
The cottage had a nice back garden- that further opened onto a private paying field - which was a nice bonus.
Overall. It was just PERFECT for our family reunion with my 70+ yr old parents and my younger brother & wife visiting from Asia. We had absolutely a great time here.
We chose this cottage for its location, being dog friendly with an enclosed garden and having more than one bedroom and bathroom and having off street parking. However our expectations were exceeded as this was a spotless, well maintained and delightful cottage. The mattresses were very comfortable which is so important. The owner gave me a list of condiments that are supplied thus saving doubling up and kept in touch in case we needed anything. The icing on the cake was an electric car charger so we charged up the night before and got home without stopping. It’s location was so central that you were into the centre of the village in 2-3 minutes gentle walking and we loved the extra touches in the cottage - box of chocs and milk which were greatly appreciated. This cottage tops all other places we have stayed at and we hope to return again.
Spring cottage is beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained. Staying here was the highlight of our trip to England. We’ve stayed in many holiday rentals over the years as we prefer them to hotels, and this was our favorite! I wish I could move in and stay forever. We didn’t bother with a car, preferring to walk and use the local bus. It’s a very short stroll to town with its array of shops and restaurants. Despite the proximity to town, the house is perfectly quiet and serene. The best part of our stay were the beautiful country walks right from our door, with some of the most stunning scenery we’ve ever seen. As bustling as the town was, we hardly saw a soul on our walks. Heaven!
Our hosts were lovely! Lynsey and Darren even helped my husband locate a wonderful trout farm so that our 10 year old could do a little fishing - and a driver to get us there.
I can’t say enough positive things about our hosts and their cottage!
This is our 3rd stay in this lovely cottage. It always feels like home and has everything you need. It’s just a 5 minute walk to the river, pubs, cafes & shops. Communication with the owners is always great and they keep the property very clean and well maintained.
This is a lovely clean cottage, probably the cleanest property I have stayed in ! It’s well equipped and has all you need for your stay including the essential condiments which you don’t get in other properties. The house is comfortable and everything is in good working order. There are shops within walking distance, walks on your doorstep and in the surrounding area, and many places to visit. Good communication from the owners. Recommend staying here. Shame we didn’t get to use the wood burner.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Spring Cottage. It was in a perfect location to make the most of Bourton and the local area. Ticked all the boxes for our family holiday and we can’t wait to go back.
Wonderfully pretty cottage in a amazingly scenic village. Lots to do near by and then coming home to this beautiful home made it a perfect visit for us. Loads of walks near by, plenty of shops pubs and restaurants. Woke every morning to bird song! Lovely stay!
We spent a week at the cottage over the Easter break and couldn’t have enjoyed it more. A lovely well stocked cottage in walking distance of the town centre. We will be back.
The listing of the property looks great however it is even nicer in reality. Very well equipped and a real home from home. As a family of 4 generations it was perfect for us. Thank you
A phenomenal quaint, well stocked and tastefully decorated home. As a family of three generations we had a brilliant week. The location is great to explore the area whilst the property is also cozy for the wet afternoons where you just want to read a book in front of the log fire. Pre-arrival details were excellent. I cannot rate Lynsey highly enough.
This lovely cottage was booked so we could explore Bourton on the Water. It was one of the most prettiest cottages we have stayed in (as is the village), and would highly recommend it. Lynsey was super to deal with and very helpful - a big 'Thank you' from Debi, Lesley and Amanda.
Fantastic experience all round; Lynsey was brilliant from start to finish and the property was first class. Bourton makes a great base for exploring the Cotswolds.
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2nd holiday in Spring Cottage. Lovely clean, well maintained cottage just a few minutes walk from the main village. Good communication with owners and easy check in and out.
Spring Cottage was a wonderful place to stay - spotlessly clean and with every amenity you could wish for. Location was ideal, just around the corner from Boughton - on - the - Water Hight street so we didn't need to drive every day - having off road parking was another plus!
Lynsey was the perfect host - excellent communication and the little touches, like flowers and chocolates, that make a stay extra special. We will definitely be back at some point.
We had a really lovely holiday in Spring Cottage. Communication with the property owners was excellent and we received an email with very detailed checking in information, directions to the property, and a list of everything that is supplied there so we knew exactly what we needed to take. It’s a very well maintained, exceptionally clean, comfortable property in a great location, just 6 minute walk to Bourton-on-the-Water High Street. We didn’t need to use the car at all during our stay as it’s only a short walk to bakery/Londis in the High Street or 10 minute walk to the Co Op Supermarket.
We had a 10 day holiday with my wife and 20 month old daughter. The house has everything you could possibly need, and the location is perfect. We hardly drove anywhere with a great pub across the road for takeaway food and drinks, and the village centre only 5 minutes walk. The little playground at the back of the house was excellent, our daughter loved it.
Lynsey was great answering any questions leading up to our arrival, and during our stay.
We were sad to leave.
Perfectly situation just on the outside of the busy but beautiful village of Bourton, the cottage was excellent. Well decorated and really well laid out, comfortable bed, sheets and towels. For the children there is a secret garden gate which backs on to a playground and a larger field. Very cozy dining terrace and all amenities in the cottage were great standard. Perfect!

About the host
Hosted by Lynsey Hodgkinson
We live in Lichfield in Staffordshire with our two sons aged 25 and 23. We love the Cotswolds as there is so many lovely places to visit and relaxing things to do. We particularly chose to buy a cottage in Bourton-on-the-Water as we love the convenience of being able to walk into one of the prettiest villages in England with it lovely shops, cafes and restaurants.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with Spring Cottage from the moment we walked in. It needed quite a lot of work but we knew it had potential. For a Cotswold cottage, it's a fairly large and it's so light and airy. It is in such a lovely location, being just a short stroll into the village, also it has a lovely south facing garden with direct access onto 'The Naight' which is a large playing field and park where Millie, our 4 year Westie can had a good run around. We especially love being able to walk into the village in the morning to get fresh bread and croissants from the bakery for breakfast. In the evenings we love to walk along the river and have a drink and sit outside one of the bars. The village takes on such a calm and peaceful atmosphere at the end of the day when most of the day visitors have headed home.
What makes this property unique
Spring Cottage is a beautifully restored, traditional cotswold stone cottage in a great location within a few minutes walk to the village. Spacious open plan lounge/dining/kitchen area where a family can relax and spend time together. 3 large bedrooms Large family bathroom and ensuite shower room Lovely south facing garden with garden furniture. 2 parking spaces (rare in Bourton on the Water). Very central location. Great to walkers. Great for those wanting to bring their pet. Log burner - the cottage is so cosy when this is lit. Very well equipped with everything you will need for a relaxing and stress free holiday.
