About this property
Tranquil, cosy waterside cottage direct river views, local pub, shop, walks.
Pentye is a converted former boat store/ shed. The cottage is tucked in beside the wall of an old Lime Kiln, set on the banks of the river Lerryn near Fowey. There are direct river views from the dining table and kitchen and the upstairs bedroom. There is also a small balcony with table and chairs for sitting out and watching the tide ebb and flow and good evening sun. Great for morning coffee, early evening drink or a meal. It is ideal for artists, writers, bird watchers, kayakers, paddle boarders and last but not least day dreamers .
You can kayak or paddle board straight from the lawn across the road at high tide. Beautiful riverside, woodland walks straight from the door. The ancient woodland just along from the house was said to be the inspiration for Kenneth Grahame's book 'Wind in the Willows'.
Good coastal walks also a short distance away.
A perfect escape for 1 or 2 people, completely self contained, impeccably clean and cosy.
Comfortable living space with comfy sofa, chair, t.v and kitchen area with cosy chairs overlooking the river. Small cloakroom and wet room on ground floor. Under floor heating.
Mezzanine bedroom with king size bed, white bed linen and towels all provided.
Nespresso coffee machine, Internet t.v. Echo Dot for radio/ music and wif fi also included.
Parking is available right outside the cottage, there are 7 steps up to the front door. There is also free parking available in the village car park or outside the village hall approx 50 metres away for when the tide is very high !
You can hire kayaks from Golant or bring your own paddle boards, kayaks or inflatable boat and paddle from just below the house to St Winnow, Golant, Fowey or Lostwithiel. We do have an alleyway attached to the cottage where you can secure kayaks, paddles boards, bikes etc.
Alternatively Fowey is about 15 mins by car via the Boddinick ferry. There is a very good local shop within a few steps of the house, which sells wine, beer, take away pasties and a wide range of groceries, so no need to take the car out or leave if you don't want to.
There is also a pub in Lerryn again a few steps away called The Ship Inn.The ancient town of Lostwithiel is 3 miles away which has lots of inspiring antique shops, cafes, pubs and a small Co-op supermarket. The Duchy Nursery is just outside Lostwithiel with an excellent range of plants and a really well worth visiting cafe. The Eden Project is only 8 miles, The National Trust's Lanhydrock House and the fishing villages of Fowey, Looe and Polperro are a short drive. Local beaches and coves ideal for swimming approx 20 minutes drive. Within an hour you can reach the vast north coast surfing beaches or the Tate Gallery in St Ives.
There are many good food places to eat out in Cornwall from the nearby Sam's on the Beach at Polkerris to a bit further afield for Nathan Outlaw's in Rock or The Hidden Hut at Portscatho.
There are many quiet spots to just pack up a picnic and take a good book to read and enjoy a bit of solitude if that's your thing too ....
We can consider short breaks of 3 nights between November and April. Please enquire.

About the host
Hosted by Michele Legg
I was born and brought up in Plymouth, Devon right on the border with Cornwall, so seem to know Cornwall better than Devon. My parents were both from Devon and my grandparents were Cornish. I kept meaning to explore and live elsewhere but never seemed to get around to it, but as you get older you realise what a beautiful area of the U.K Devon & Cornwall are. I live with my husband Nick and daughter Milly on Dartmoor. We also have a son called Elliot. We run a food business on Dartmoor and are currently writing a cook book ..
Why they chose this property
Lerrryn is a creekside village just off the main Fowey river and a bit of a hidden gem. Easily accessible, but it seems far from the madding crowds. Good for beaches too on the North coast as well as the South coast. We already knew the area quite well as we were both brought up in Plymouth right on the border of Cornwall and Lerryn is less than an hour from the Tamar Bridge, so really easy to get there. When we saw this tiny quaint property right on the banks of the river, we weren't looking to buy anywhere but somehow serendipity just seemed to happen!
What makes this property unique
The walks straight from the house are beautiful and the changing seasons of the woodlands close by. We also enjoy having a pub and shop in walking distance, so we don't have to go anywhere if we don't want to, just stay here and watch the river, the birds and the tides.
