Just had an amazing Easter break, the most incredibly convenient central location but quietly tucked away. Everything in the house and already planning our next visit!
Lovely location . Everything you need , the only down side is the noise from the hotel kitchen at night time . Which is right next to our bedroom window . Otherwise perfect .
Charming house - living the underfloor heating- a bit of a tucked away in the middle of town - we were a bit worried that the workmen refurbishing the shop next to the house were going to be noisy but it turns out all the noise was them singing (very tuneful as it turned out but fortunately they packed up by 5pm A bit of a walk to find some grass fir Bonnie but once that was figured out, no problem A lot of Fowey seemed to be being refitted or decorated, but enough was open to survive Nice touches in the house - appreciated the little bottles of soap and washing up liquid and a real bonus to have the Quay bakery so closeHad a great time and would recommend to everyone
Great location, great price, lovely hosts.
but quite a bit of negatives.
Quite a bit broken or not working: bath is jacuzzi however couldn't get the jacuzzi buttons to work at all which was really gutting as we couldn't go to the hotel and use the spa due to covid. Shower holder and pole has cracks in which made it fall off while undoing the lever to move the shower head up and down down pole. Few handles are broken or fallen off already, hinge for cupboard in kitchen under sink has gone really rusty and fallen off completely when opened. Fridge and microwave wasn't clean, highly recommended the hosts to buy a plug for the sink in bathroom to stop things falling down it, (I didn't drop anything, just and idea) bath really really needs a bath mat!!! Safety reasons. And a hair trap plug or cover can be brought cheap just to put over the bath plug when women wash their hair. Over all cleanliness wasn't wasn't high standard and even more so with times at the moment with covid that it should be spotless! Need a bit of love and care on the house decoration, such as paint and raising damp on all walls, where the walls are peeling it's all over the floors, however it looks like it's been on the floor for quite a while before we arrived to stay which realky should be hovered or dusted up.

Hello Paige,
I am sorry you did not enjoy your stay, I would have been able to help with some of your issues if you had let me know during yhour stay?
1) Yes, the jacuzzi bath is broken which is why we no longer include it in the descriptions. We have been hunting for a part and someone to fit it for some time now but have sadly been unsuccessful.
2) Fowey Hall Hotel's pool is closed as they are installing a new 25m pool. We did make this clear in the Welcome Pack.
3) the shower and plug have been fixed after the cleaner let us know they were broken
4) good idea, we now have a hair trap cover and bath mat
5) We will fix the kitchen cupboard, we had not realised it was broken
6) I am sorry you did not find it clean. If you had let me know this could have been rectified immediately. Photos are always really useful too.
7) It is a 200 year old cottage by the sea, this is why we provide a dehumidifier in winter. The flaking on some parts of the wall is a constant issue, we need to tackle a few trouble spots every year. This is common in old seaside cottages.
Yours,
Sinead
Lovely little cottage in an absolute prime location in the centre of Fowey. Warm and comfortable, well equipped with nice touches such as fresh bread and fudge. Fowey is beautiful and recommend dinner out at Fitzroy, swimming at Readymoney Cove and the ferry across to Polruan to hike to Lantic Bay. Will definitely return!
Everything was great, lovely property and a perfect location to enjoy the whole of Fowey. No parking but not an issue as easy to get long stay parking close by. Would definitely book again. Thank you!
Easy to rent through home away. Exactly as described. Minor things, like the towels in the twin room and the bath mat should be larger. Great being so central and car parking very easy.

A mix of charming & quirky, pretty cottage, great location near a wonderful bakery!
Our family of 3 plus a little dog, stayed at Number One Albert Place for a week from Oct-Nov 2018. The cottage is in a great location (if you are happy to forego a river view) and is comfortable with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. Contrary to another visitor's comments, the cottage was pretty clean when we arrived - though to be fair at the end of the season after a busy summer, we would forgive a property if it was a little "tired"- so Albert Cottage needed some light bulbs replacing and some of the internal doors don't close, but not holiday spoilers in our view as I'm sure the owner will be checking over the property before the next busy season. In a former life this property was a fisherman's cottage and the owners have made a great job of updating it to the quirky, charming and pretty college it now is. We had a lovely holiday - thank you Sinaed, Nick & family
PS 4 out of 5 only because for us, we missed the view & having a locking bathroom door (so it doesn't open when the front door does!) - but it was our choice to compromise! We did also notice in the bathroom cabinet that there was a door bolt waiting to be fitted so that glitch will soon be sorted :)

Great location close to everything
We really enjoyed our 4 weeks at 1 Albert Place. The cottage was just right for us and was close to all the shops and pubs. We love visiting Fowey and living in the middle of town was great. We also made good use of the free access to the Fowey Hall swimming pool, which came with the rental.

Tired downstairs and grubby
Photos look great for property but reality somewhat different.
Floor in kitchen needed a good scrub (sticky to the soles of your feet). Bin under sink filthy inside and out with previous occupants rubbish left for us. Freezer in fridge so iced up it was unusable, and needed defrosting. One of the stools at table has a broken seat. The settee was uncomfortable and has come apart.
Upstairs we found the double bed very uncomfortable and we slept on top of the quits rather than the thin mattress on the metal bed frame.
Should have been much nicer.

Beautiful spot - in lovely Fowey
Cosy small cottage in beautiful Fowey - bang in the centre of Fowey. The small quiet alley away from the main street was the perfect lace to sit and read and relax. We stayed a week and only had two trips during our stay, Land's End and the Eden project.
Recommendations: Sunday lunch and Cream tea at the Fowey hotel - fantastic food and great view. The small cosy beach - 15 min. from the cottage. Lovely pubs - 5 min. walk from the cottage. Book parking at Caffa Mill parking lot - 10 min. walk. Book in one weeks advance(public car park run by Cornwall Gov.). Don't forget to take the ferry to Bodinick and walk the Hall walk to Polruan.
We had Cornish Pasties everyday for lunch - just baked across the street.
Will absolutely come again.

About the host
Hosted by Sinead Hanks
Unlike most second home owners in Fowey, we love it so much we live here too and have excellent local knowledge. Our useful links with local businesses mean that if we can't help, will know someone who can.
We (Nick and Sinead) moved to Fowey in 2011. Sinead had spent an idyllic childhood here - after-school evenings on the beach, sand in her hair and dodgy tales of Gossips ‘nightclub’. Nick (though it was hardly his fault) grew up in Hampshire.
Both moved to London to find their fortunes, Sinead as a press officer, working with charities and social entrepreneurs, Nick as a journalist (Daily Mail, Guardian, Times Magazine, Radio Times) and author (Dalek I Loved You). After meeting over a love of karaoke and pub quizzes, they waved goodbye to the city for Fowey with their baby daughter, Regan (named after John Thaw’s character in The Sweeney), so she too could have afternoons on a beach. Fortunately for them, Gossips had shut down.
Together they set up the popular Love Fowey website which promotes the town, and Nick also runs the Any Old Lights vintage marine lighting shop next to the church.
We are closely involved with local activities including the Community Bus, Squires Field Community Centre, Regatta Week and Fowey Christmas Market
Why they chose this property
After returning to Fowey in 2011, we stayed with Sinead's mum, also in Fowey, desperately looking for somewhere to live. No easy task, as we were looking for somewhere old yet full of character.
And as soon as we saw Albert Place, we knew we had found it. Neglected and in dire need of some love and care, yet we could immediately see how beautiful and cosy it could be. Many months and restoration from skilled local builders and specialists later, we moved in with our three year old daughter in 2012.
We include 'before and after' shots' in our Welcome Pack so you can see how far we have come!
By 2015, another wee one arrived and we had outgrown our little cottage - however we still live in Fowey and loved our time at 1 Albert Place, bang in the middle of town - the ‘Soho’ of Fowey!
What makes this property unique
You are so ridiculously close to all amenities - 10 seconds from Fowey's main shop and just minutes from all the pubs and restaurants. Yet tucked down an alley you can get away from it all!
You have use of the Fowey Hall Hotel swimming pool and hot tub and are just three miles from the world famous Eden Project
300 years of history means that the place has a traditional, cosy feel to it yet also includes underfloor heating and a whilrlpool bath.
It is a unique property in a very special part of Cornwall.
