About the host
Hosted by Steven Ackley
Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio. Denison University Graduate. I began coming to the Upper Peninsula with my grandfather (an exceptional fisherman) in the 50's as a child, and have spent time almost every summer since in the Les Cheneaux . Now, my wife and three teenage kids like to sneak up whenever we have the chance. All seasons up here amaze me.
Why they chose this property
This place is close to heaven, we believe. It is very quiet, yet we do have roughly a dozen neighborhood places on our point, mostly seasonal. You have a sense of community, however, neighbors are. It gives you remote relaxation, but is only about a 5 minute drive into the little town of Hessel if you need something from the grocery store. There is wonderful sailing, boating, kayaking, swimming, fishing, sunning or reading on the deck.
What makes this property unique
Fabulous views, on the water, quiet bay in Lake Huron, yet on the lee of the Point Brulee Peninsula, so mostly quiet , calm water, perfect for water activities or just sitting on the dock and reading, bird watching or sunning. Easy access by car. Deep water boating, docking and navigating into Lake Huron and the Les Cheneaux Islands. Feels like an island.
