About this property

The Dairy, Great Massingham, Norfolk

Dating back to the 1850s, The Dairy is a stunning conversion of a traditional Norfolk barn located on the edge of the much sought after, picturesque rural village of Great Massingham. Within close proximity of the excellent village pub, this hideaway is well equipped for family holidays, and ideally located for exploring rural and coastal Norfolk. Dog owners will enjoy the fully enclosed exercise paddock, and you can bring your bikes too.

Instantly impressive, The Dairy at West Heath Barn is positioned right on the Peddars Way, the famous Roman Road that leads to the North Norfolk coast, and set in 4.5 acres of private grounds, complete with resident alpacas. The barn's location makes it an exceptional choice for walkers, cyclists, and those who prefer to explore by car. Set in panoramic countryside, the barn is a perfect retreat for a tranquil holiday retreat amongst nature, whilst also being close enough to benefit from the wonderful amenities at the heart of Great Massingham village.

The conversion of the original was of the highest quality and furnished to a very high standard. The well-equipped farmhouse kitchen provides all that guests need to cater at home, and with so much delicious local produce available nearby, rustling up a delicious feast will be a must. Enjoy the fruits of your labour as you gather together around the dining table to create lasting holiday memories over good food and conversation. The spacious yet cosy sitting room features comfortable seating under exposed beams, and with a wood burning stove adding extra heat and ambient light, there is no better spot for nestling into after a day spent in the big outdoors. The master bedroom has an inviting king-size bed, that can be converted into twin beds on request, and is served by an en suite shower room. Guests can enjoy access from this bedroom to the sunny outdoor seating area. Dual aspect bedroom one has a further king-size bed and en suite bathroom offering bath with shower over. Outside, there is a courtyard garden with patio and barbecue area for dining al fresco. A shared quad courtyard is also accessible from the barn. Ample parking is available on the gravel driveway. Dogs are very welcome at The Dairy, and guests have access to the fully enclosed exercise paddock.

Walk 25-minutes into Great Massingham to experience one of Norfolk's prettiest villages, famous for the two large duck ponds at the centre, as well as the popular gastro pub, The Dabbling Duck. Walking from the barn is peaceful and traffic free. History lovers will enjoy time spent at HM The King's Sandringham Estate, Castle Rising and Houghton Hall which can all be reached in 15-minutes by car. Birdwatchers can reach the RSPB reserves at Snettisham and Titchwell in under half an hour. The vast and sandy beach at Brancaster is within a half hour car journey, with other spectacular beaches and walks at Hunstanton, Holme-next-the-Sea, Thornham, Brancaster Staithe, and Burnham Overy Staithe easily reachable from the barn. Even the popular coastal locations of Blakeney, Sheringham and Cromer can be reached in under an hour by car.

The Dairy comfortably accommodates four guests. For a larger party, the barn can be booked as a sleeps six option with an additional annex, listed as The Dairy (6). Located just across the courtyard The Cart Lodge accommodates four or six guests. The properties can be booked together, making them a great option for couples, multiple families and multi-generational families to holiday together, while maintaining privacy and independence.

Clean and Spacious cottage close to a pretty village

The Dairy was a perfect location for exploring the North Norfolk coastline and surrounding villages. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and really spacious. Easy walk from the property into the village & the quaint local pub. Great communication from the owners. Such a bonus that the dogs are welcome with their own exercise area.

3 day stay

We enjoyed our stay at The Dairy. Accommodation was spotless, owners were very hospitable and on arrival we found eggs and milk in the fridge and homemade lemon drizzle cake waiting for us, which was delicious - thank you. Satnav almost got it right, but for 50 yds from cottage. My son and his wife have a dog, so little paddock was perfect next to the cottage. My husband is a keen bird watcher so we enjoyed our visit to The Wash, and a walk into the village on arrival, although only road to walk on, no path. We played scrabble, dominoes and cards in the evening and there were also lots of puzzles. The amenities in the cottage we excellent, especially for a longer stay - dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, microwave and accommodation spotless.

Norfolk holiday

The Dairy is a great place to stay. Gill and Dave are extremely welcoming and lovely people. The Dairy was spotlessly clean and we were welcomed with a lovely cake and even some biscuits for the dogs. Dexter loved the dog paddock and settled in very quickly. The location is very good as it’s not too far to anywhere and we had a really good holiday. Thank you.

Lovely holiday accommodation - and dog-friendly, too

We had a great time at The Dairy. The house felt like a real "home from home" and was clean, comfortable and well-appointed. We enjoyed being able to bring our dogs, and the enclosed dog paddock made the stay very easy for both us and them. We were most impressed by the customer service before and during our stay - Gill and her husband were on hand when we needed them (and we particularly enjoyed the complimentary alpaca walk!).

10/10 Excellent

Our stay at the Dairy in Great Massingham.

The facilities were second to none and the welcome was excellent even down to the bowl of dog biscuits for the dog, Jeff, and a delicious Lemon Drizzle Cake for the humans.. Jeff adored the dog paddock outside the front door. The cottage itself was beautifully presented with all mod cons. The alpacas - Hemingway, Huxley, Oscar and Charley - were adorable and taking them for a walk was very interesting. Shopping was quite easy with a village shop within a mile and supermarkets within 20 minutes driving in all directions. We were a diverse family group with ages ranging from 72 down to 36 and there was plenty to do in the area. Gill and Dave, the owners, could not do enough for their guests. We all gave the Dairy a 5-star rating.
